Guardians of the Galaxy Lee Pace as Ronan: the Accuser

I am crossing every appendage I have for Lee Pace to be Nova. I think it makes sense if they're hoping to spin him off into his own franchise.

If the rumor about Pace's character getting a spinoff is true, I'd definitely put Nova at the top of the list of likeliest contender. But it could be a case of "future projects" just meaning that he's signed for prospective GOTG sequels, which would make him more likely to be an actual Guardian; which, to me, would point more towards Adam Warlock joining the team (makes more sense than Nova with the whole "he's a bad guy, but he turns good later" rumor).

Agreed, again. As much as I would LOVE for Cumberbatch to become a central pillar in the MCU, I'm not really seeing Strange there. Come to think of it, my perfect Marvel role for him would be to play Reed Richards in a reacquired, rebooted F4.

On Lee Pace, I actually think he'll turn out to be an RR as well... Richard Rider. (Hows that for a segue? )

Possibly. However, I somehow think they might be saving Magus/Warlock for the sequel.

Assuming the logline is accurate, the GOTG are a bunch of fugitives on the run from space cops (probably the Nova Corps) which would mean the Nova Corps are antagonists, which could be loosely construed as villains.

There is most definitely going to be more going on than that, there would have to be.

Agreed.
The rumor "consensus" on Pace is that he's a bad guy who becomes a good guy, and is being groomed for future movies. That describes Magus becoming Adam Warlock, a regular fixture in the GOTG, far more than it does Richard Rider. (Nobody would ever knowingly call Nova a "bad guy.")

Yeah, but second hand reports often mix up "villain" and "antagonist," and once one person makes that confusion, anybody following will continue it.

But you also have to think that if there is a bunch of human kicking around the galaxy then it makes Quill not so special.

Also with how much I've heard about this being a launch for more Marvel Space, I think we can expect to see more characters with spin-off potential, Nova Corps, Black Bolt and Medusa, Warlock/Magus, etc.

True; but would they sacrifice new franchises like Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel and others who've been rumored for Phase III, or even ongoing franchises with proven box-office records, to gamble on even more Cosmic Marvel titles? Especially when they're still shooting only two films a year?

Seems to me more likely that the whole "future films" rumors boil down to GOTG franchising, and actors like Pace, BDT, and JCR re-upping for those sequels, rather than spinning off whole new franchises in space.

Yea, that's where I'm coming from as well.

I mean we are talking about a mainstream Hollywood press that pulled out an inadvertent "Killidarin" amalgamation of their own by unleashing Ronan "The Accuser" Dey on us unsuspecting, terrified nerdlings.

Oh, most certainly.

Even if they went the "Pace as Rider as Antagonist" route, the "Co(r)ps vs. GOTG as Robbers" angle would probably be only one plot thread among others. Del Torro would almost certainly be the Big Bad, whether he's playing Thanos or the Collector.

According the an article on the site that shall not be named, Pace has been confirmed as Ronan. If its true, I am very happy, never seen Pace act, but Ronan being in the movie has me amazingly excited.

Apparently Karen Gillen is Nebula as well.
