There is a bit of confusion over that bit, because of the time traveling element in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah; we don't know if that Godzilla in 84 melted in 95, or if the 54 one came back in 91 and that melted in 95. Heck, even I don't know, lol. That movie, while good, was confusing.

That would be awesome and it appears that they are headed that way. It wouldn't be the first massive horrific event that was covered up in human history. Man this movie has me so intrigued now. I live the original and this really seems to have the same vibe.

Plus they referenced Biollante in SpaceGodzilla, yet technically that shouldn't exist in the new timeline lol.

As for the script leak

In that original script, Serizawa and his team discover fossilized remains of a dinosaur, basically like the Godzillasaurus from GvsKG, only much more aquatic. They find out that Godzilla was awakened by the Nagasaki bombings and that the US government along with the Soviet Union nukes this creature while it was on it's way to Japan. Point blank apparently. They're not sure whether or not the Godzilla we see in the current day events is the same one from the 50s. So you could say that it starts off the same as the original film, but becomes an alternate timeline before he can actually reach Tokyo for his famous rampage.
