Why does it have to be 2014. Why can't they begin filming later in THIS year, so it can be released in 2013. Shouldn't the script have been finished by now?

Warner Bros.' 2013 slate is full. They already pushed Jack the Giant Killer to March 2013 and The Great Gatsby to Summer 2013. Their 2014 slate just has The Hobbit 3 and a animated Lego movie. Mad Max is also likely to hit summer 2014 but no dates have been given.

Besides, do we really want them to rush this? We might end up with another GINO

I want the CGI to be flawless

do you think they will ever release the Comic Con teaser trailer?

Good point. Though I didn't think GINO was as bad as most people did, it was still a bad Godzilla movie. I think they'll get this one right.

I think I heard the comic con footage was just a proof of concept Gareth did for the studio. Basically to show how he would do a Godzilla film.

The footage shown isnt actual footage from the movie.

If they had released it as just a new monster movie I dont think it would have gotten such a bad reception.

Hobbit III will move to Christmas 2014. No doubt.

IF it's ANYTHING even remotely like the last one...then they should just stop now.

Still, it would be nice to see this teaser...its not fair that only Comic Con attendees got to see it...surely they know there are tons of Godzilla fans out there that are just dying to see this teaser of sorts...besides isn't the Godzilla design in that trailer more or less the final design?

They should do it like Rampage. Godzilla smashes the world!

They're already working on a Rampage movie right now.

As long as they have Godzilla fighting another monster and not just the military I'll be happy

Tron Legacy had a proof of concept teaser for Comic Con that they eventually released online.

Warner Brothers has Pacific Rim coming out in 2013. Translation: They already have a giant monster movie coming out, why have another in the same year.

Del Toro has actually mentioned in interviews some of the tip-toe-ing around the two productions had to go through, trying not to include the same locations or similar action set pieces.

Godzilla Stomps Into Theaters on May 16, 2014!

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have slated their take on the classic Godzilla franchise to hit theaters on May 16, 2014. The joint announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures, and by Legendary Pictures.

Toho Co., Ltd.’s Godzilla franchise contains one of the most widely recognized movie monsters worldwide, including more than 25 films, multiple television programs, video games and book series. Legendary, which has been developing the project, and its partner Warner Bros. will return the character to its epic roots with a gritty, realistic actioner. The project will fall under Legendary's overall agreement with Warner Bros.

The film is directed by Gareth Edwards, who earned worldwide acclaim for his feature directorial debut, Monsters. Edwards directs from a screenplay by David Callaham (“The Expendables” films), David S. Goyer (the "Dark Knight" trilogy) and Max Borenstein (upcoming The Seventh Son). Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce, along with Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher will serve as executive producers alongside Doug Davison, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.

A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho Co., Ltd. The tent pole film is expected to be presented in 3D.

The other movie scheduled for May 16, 2014 is the Jonathan Liebesman-directed Ninja Turtles, to be produced by Michael Bay.

Starting to get excited for the possibilities. I need to get Pacific Rim out of the way first before the excitement really starts, though.

WB has been doing alot of this lately. The hobbit on the next Xmen date. The Hangover on top of Fast six, now this over ninja turtles. If only the other studios would stand their ground. Their features would arguably topple WB at each juncture.

As much as I love them, the X-men will probably lose against The Hobbit.

I can also see Godzilla beating TMNT, but it depends on how the movies present themselves.

Hangover has a big crowd, but so do the Fast movies... Not sure about that one.

A lot of people didn't like/care for Hangover 2 while Fast Five was very much enjoyed. If neither of their sequels move I can definitely see Fast Six(?) winning out.

They're both opening Memorial Day weekend, both Hangover 3 and Fast Six should do well though Six could have a bigger opening. Hangover 2 may have turned people off but still have a large opening weekend.

Ninja Turtles still has lots of weeks in 2014 that are still open to move to.

Holy crap I totally forgot Jack the Giant Killer existed

Wow. WB strikes again. What's going on in that studio right now? Not that I'm looking forward to TMNT (the complete opposite) but this is the third time now. Still kinda dickish.

If that's the case then why can't WB place ANY movie in Summer 2014 on a date that isn't already occupied by another potentially huge tentpole?
