I'm reading that they casted him. They're saying it'll be a six picture deal. I'm not sure if it's true, but I'm reading it from multiple sites.

Before you get jumped on, just pointed out that "casted" is not a word. It's all good though. Anyways, I'm pretty sure that came from the cosmic rumor site. It spread to a couple other sites after, but I don't think it was confirmed. A lot of people started talking about the possibility because Cranston came out and said he would like the role of Lex.

Multiple sites reporting the same questionable source. I highly doubt it's legit.

How about this one.... Tom Cruise as Lex. Give it a minute to sink in.

I like Tom Cruise, but I'm going to say no. Not necessarily because I don't think he could do a good Lex Luthor, but because of the likely backlash. If you thought Ben Affleck had strong negative baggage to deal with, that's nothing compared to how a lot of people view Cruise...

Cosmic is also the first place I saw report it, They often report things based on poorly drawn conclusions, this makes alot of people angry and is widely regarded as a bad idea. take anything that originates from Cosmic with a salt shaker's worth of salt.

Is nobody talking about Bryan Cranston?
I think we're all still too floored from the BB episode last night to talk about him.

Walter White's scheming makes Lex Luthor look like a kid on a playground.

Cruise would be good, but he kind of has a facial structure similar to both Affleck and Cavill. That would be weird lol. They all could pass as related imo. heh

I no longer refer to him as Walter White. He's King Heisenberg.

Heisenberg already turned Gus Fring into Two Face in season 4, so going after Superman is next.

Cruise would kill it. Would he really get a ton of backlash?

I think if Tom Cruise got cast as Lex he would play it like a serious version of his character from Tropic Thunder. Lance Grossman I think his name was HA HA. But hasn't it been confirmed that Bryan Canston is playing Lex?

yes, cosmicbooknews confirmed it, making the confirmation extraordinarily questionable, I wouldn't be surprised if Cranston were cast, but CBN is not a reliable source.

Cruise needs a CBM role.

Yea, if it was legit SHH would have posted an article confirming it already. So I am taking the news with a grain of salt. It is awesome if true though!!

is cranston lex? c'mon already. announce it wb. amiright? they could do worse.

And there Facebook and site has been bombarded with comments telling them that their source isn't reliable. Whoops!

Now would be a great time for Cranston or WB to confirm or deny it.

I don't know, this seems like a step down for Cranston. Not that he can't be great at pretty much whatever you throw at him...comedy...drama...I just don't get why he wants to do this.

How is it a step down? Cranston's a tv actor. People have to stop treating him like he's Daniel Day Lewis. Hell, the guy was willing to play the villain in that terrible Recall remake last year and you're saying he's too good for a summer blockbuster featuring Superman/Batman? Pure idiocy.

When Superman: The Movie was announced in the 70s, Hackman approached the producers about wanting to play Lex Luthor. This surprised them since Hackman was just coming off an Oscar win for The French Connection and was considered, in their words, "a respected member of the serious actor's clique". Hackman's was a more renowned(and better) actor than Cranston and he WANTED the role.

Considering the calibre of the actors that have portrayed Luthor on the big screen before him(Hackman and Spacey), Cranston WISHES he were in their league...which is probably WHY he wants the role.

Cranston just seems like a too on the nose suggestion. Frankly I'd expect someone who doesn't seem like a fan cast suggestion because they've seen him play a bald guy before.

We live in a world where a POS hack like Mark Wahlberg is respected by the general audience while Cruise is looked down upon like the plague. Sad and pathetic.

Just think how many people in hollywood (or anywhere really) will continue on with their careers while some continue to write angry posts about them in a forum. lol

Cruise comes with too much negative baggage due to his religion, which weirded people out more and more as time went on. I find him to be a decent actor, not all that great, but decent. He's more movie star than chameleon actor. His "brand" is sullied due to his personal life.

Wahlberg knows his limitations, stays within them and balances between dumb-paycheck movies and passion projects. Besides, he's fantastic in Boogie Nights, a scene-stealer in The Departed and solid in The Fighter. So he's not the worst out there. He's not really all that strong or diverse an actor, but what he can do he does well.

That's the difference. It's not a talent disparity. It's a PR issue mostly.
