I'd dig hoffman. he's a great actor.[YT]Y-i3ECq-LO0[/YT]

rain dance!

"I just sharted..."

Along Came Polley. LMFAO. A sleeper funny one for me. Hoffman was hilarious. He can play it all.

Lex Luthor: "Please, can I kiss you on the mouth?"
Superman: "No!"
later
Lex Luthor: I'm a ******' idiot. I'm a ******' idiot. ******' idiot...

I remember awhile ago bringing up Snyder's words regarding his Lex Luthor being a Brad Pitt colliding with a Richard Branson. The one actor, who I automatically thought of when combing the two actors, who I really, really like was Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He fits that description quite nicely and can pull a modern Luthor off. He's got a nice chunk of hair too (Pitt) and the ginger of Branson.

Fans over analyze the "looks" department for Lex as their depictions have to fall in line PERFECTLY to the comic character. In a modern age, I think the look off Hoffman can pull Snyder's vision off:

I can certainly, without question, see vision in which Snyder described (Brossman/Pitt) and I hope they take this route other than the usual "Lex needs to be bald, young, fit and as good looking as Superman blabblah" debate. It's what makes the film direction exciting. It's all in how the director sees it rather than the current comic book realm of things when it comes to appearance. IMHO, Hoffman would NAIL IT.

Philip Seymour-Hoffman's not a bad choice. I like it!:woot: I think this clip from Mission Impossible 3 sums up the acting chops to pull off Lex Luthor:

only thing is hoffman probably doesn't resemble the modern lex most have been clamoring for

this is modern lex

Ever since this movie was announced, I've been more interested to see who plays Lex than who plays Bruce. C'mon, Warners!

Perhaps it is like their casting of Batman,
they know who it is, they are just waiting to announce it.

If Cranston is too Gordon for Luthor Hoffman is to Cobblepot dang it

shame Brolin is doing the new Jurassic Park movie. he was my first choice for Lex.

If the show "Arrow" isn't connected to the Man of Steel universe, I hope that Brolin is cast as Deathstroke at some point.

The "modern Luthor" that fans want has to do with his personality, intelligence, characterization, etc, not necessarily his physical appearance.

jackie earle haley anyone???

A very interesting choice. There is definitely an unspoken connection between Lex casting and Batman casting. Rorschach was essentially the Batman of Watchmen, so I can see this working very well.

Exactly my mindset, worked with Snyder before as you mentioned with Watchmen, so hes definitely gotta be at least a plausible option.

It's growing on me more and more. I was never a Cranston for Lex fan, I want to see Mark Strong's Sinestro back and most of the popular "outside of the box picks" are probably unattainable, so he's in my finalist list.

Hopefully we get a definitive choice soon. Want to see how the rest of this cast rounds out.

For sure. The big ones that I'm waiting for are the Lex casting and who (if there is) the supervillain is.

OMG, when are they announcing it!?

This. Taking forever. I bet mark strong gets it though, since I believe Snyder already expressed interest in him. After watching him on low winter sun a couple of times, I think he would be a great choice.

I could see J.E.H as a Brainiac. He got the eerie features and those inhuman buggy-eyes.

Basically I want an actor who would have to really stretch to be a bad guy so we see him actually attempting to switch it up from his usual. Unfortunately a lot of the good actors have all played bad guys before. Sometimes that's all they've played.

I also want someone playing against type.
