Yeah letting an A-lister take top billing on a poster with many 20 minutes of screen time yeah that makes sense

Sigh

Its nothing new. Look at all the huge stars to have accepted small roles. The list is endless. Tom Cruise for example in Tropic Thunder. And don't forget the films which are divided into multiple stories, often have a long list of stars each contributing 20 minutes (Magnolia for example). Either way, you'd find lots of A-listers ready to play 20 minutes of Batman for a decent paycheck.

Lex isn't entertaining, right. A PROPER Lex would be ridiculously entertaining to see. They could finally play up the genius aspect of him, not just throw the word out randomly.

You mean like....if Lex put his hand on his chin entertaining? What kind of entertaining?

Anybody who doesn't recognize that Lex is Superman's best villain is fooling themselves.

I'd say Brainiac is his number 2.

Lex is to Joker what Brainiac is to Ra's

The Joker vs Lex. One is a clown with a degree in explosives and crazy voices. The other is a 'genius' in a suit.

please bother to read/watch some of the good Superman stories with Luthor before making posts like that.

What? WHAT? He's THE villain. The opposing force. The Yang to his Yin. The darkness of humanity against the beacon of hope. HE'S THE OTHER HALF OF HIS SOUL, MAN. He's the villain that'll mourn his death. I'm not even a huge Superman fan and I know this. What makes Lex entertaining and interesting is that he's the human opposing the all powerful alien. That dynamic is FAR better than pew pew bang bang esplosions and punching.

I'll believe he's so entertaining when I see it, in a film. What villain isn't evil, anyway....

At least an alien villain has deadly powers, rather than simply being evil-minded. And the thing is, its supposed to be an ACTION movie. I don't want to see Lex eating up time in some boardroom or on the telephone. Lex will need to be assisting an alien-villain. Although no room for that, if Batman is in the film.

That's a point.

But it's a very weak possibility that this will happen with Batman in this movie.

They're now selling it as a World's Finest film. If the TDKReturns line is anything to go by, it's a half Batman VS Superman film is well.

Anything less now would be a HUGE letdown.

They could write the film as 50-50 in terms of how much focus is on each character. But I believe it's still very much Superman's film, and so Batman will have a role, like somebody else said, like Harvey Dent's in TDK. A Big role, but not stealing the movie away from the main character.

I guess it just makes me sad cause I figure there will be another solo Superman movie at some point in the future, but they will sort of have already done Luthor in this film, so the next Superman film will probably be Brainiac or something instead.

I don't know if we'll ever get a Superman movie that's just Supeman vs Lex (and a possible secondary villain) now, and that is my absolute dream.

It's just gonna be weird having Batman there.

Yeah just like Loki appeared in the first Thor movie and was then done for good. :whatever:

I get that you prefer all the pretty splosions and caveman punches and you probably get all confoosed when someone has a complex motive or an in-depth characterization, or anything that actually makes characters and a story, ya know, compelling and interesting, so I'm just gonna calmly say that your post is wrong.

Anthony Hopkins was onscreen in Silence of the Lambs for 16 minutes total, big actors can have small roles.

Are people just hoping Batman won't have a big role?

Anything to back up this 20 minute theory?

Pretty much if the title is Batman Vs Superman or World's Finest (both means 50% split in terms of screen time) I wonder how fans will react... or will this be another part of the bluff that Manofsteeltrilogy is talking about.

I kind of think that Batman will be a shadowy figure with unclear motives for most of the films.

The movie would be a massive letdown if Batman is a minor character.

Like I said, it's being treat as Batman VS Superman, or a friendly team up, depending.

It's not MOS2 with Batman just appearing.

I hope it's 56% Superman 44% Batman. If Diana is in it, she throws the ratio off. How do you even mix her role in when you have to introduce huge characters like Batman and presumably Lex?

I am hoping 60 % batman and 40% Superman but then I never was really into superman sorry.....

but I would be fine with superman having a little more screen time as long as Batman has more then 20 minutes

Well you just explained why my post ISN'T wrong (because this film needs caveman punches and explosions, as its an ACTION MOVIE). Show action, don't show people with thoughtful looks on their face "plotting". If you want complex, you aren't going to find it in a superhero film. There was nothing "complex" about the Nolan films either (but they still lacked action unfortunately).

Action works fine, I love it in MOS. However, that's not the ONLY thing that you can be. Nothing complex about the Nolan movies, yeah right. A more cerebral, thriller-esque movie would set it apart from the sci-fi/ war film that MOS was. Lex in the comics is great because he's this master manipulator who can convince people of his noble intentions, then do horrible things. If you want action, have Lex create Metallo to fight Superman, and everyone gets what they want.

Back to casting, I think Joel Edgerton would be awesome as Lex. Try to imagine him shaved bald, he just oozes contempt in a very Lex Luthor way.

None of that crap matters. And YOU'RE watching the wrong everything completely if you really believe this mindless gibberish.

If it were me, it'd be 60 percent Clark and his world (including Smallville/ Lex/Lois,etc), 20 percent earth's reaction/a global element and the other 20 percent being Batman. Wishful thinking, I know ;)

Only way I would be ok with that ..... Superman is about to die from Kryptonite and Batman saves his life

The two are going to have a fight though. There's little doubt in that.

In that, we need some strong focus on Batman. To get his reasons out for his animosity towards Superman and our (the audience) understanding as well. We can't have him just showing up and wanting to take down the Man of Steel. It'll just make him look *****y.

We need a clear understanding of it, we need to see his POV. We need to see how and why Batman makes the decisions to fight, and ultimately, become allies. ..that ends up with the former enemies creating the JL.
