The Dark Knight Rises Life after Nolan: What comes next...

Indeed. It was the comic book come to life. The most impressive part was seeing him fight off the armed gunmen. The choreography was awesome, and it was shot perfectly to showcase the action.

Directors should take note.

I'm sure everyone and their grandmother has seen the new trailer for Arkham City.

THAT in live action is what we need after Nolan's trilogy is complete.

GOAT.

Actually, that trailer reminded me of the way Bale fought in BB and especially in TDK. Generally I got a very Nolan vibe from that trailer. Strange sounded weird, though, and not in a good way.

What? No way!

Yeah, especially at the start of the trailer he sounded like he was sqeaking like the Penguin.

I don't know about BB, as I rarely saw what way he fought there. But yeah I saw a lot of the TDK fighting style there.

I think he sounds great. He actually sounds a lot like Christopher Lee.

Yeah I only wish Nolan's Gotham looked like that:funny:

I loved Hugo's voice and look, but the dialogue was a bit daft I understand.

Guys you seriously think Nolan's Batman fights like that? Did we watch a different video?

No but I wish that he would

My main complaint with the Nolan series I dont like Bats' fighting style

You dont like "elbow, elbow, elbow, elbow, punch, grab, elbow, elbow, kick, elbow, elbow, elbow, elbow, elbow"?

Its so awesome! :awesome: [BLACKOUT]NOT[/BLACKOUT]

The elbow hits in conjunction with the constant hip-turning he did was reminiscent of the style. It's only similar though. One would only need to play AA to see just how different he fights. We've only seen a short clip.

Yes, I do and no, we didn't. There was lots of elbows and there was a movie where he punches a guy's wrist just like he did in TDK when he went after Maroni in his club.

Yeah, there was a **** ton of elbows being flung in that video.

Better camera work but not very much different from the Nolan style at all. Same glide-into-barrel-roll move, pretty much entirely grounded without any flying kicks and somersaults. Overall a little more fluid and more video game like (duh). Makes sense since the gameplay is so heavily based on unbroken combo strings.

I want to almost suggest that WB will try to go with a similar route ala the Nolan films and will hire people that will try and make a fourth installment into the Nolan Batman movies. In a way, Batman Forever feels like a third film to Burton's but the tone and atmosphere changed drastically. Yet the scenes showing Jack Nappier and the references to Catwoman in both films made it feel like "Oh, well sure it looks different...but guess this is still part of the story."

It would be interesting to see someone else's take on Nolan's Batman world...but with a whole new Bruce Wayne/Batman and director...it most likely would end up being a pile of garbage if given to the wrong hands...or just in general.

I honestly don't know what I would want next really. Nothing in the world got me more excited for a movie like TDK right now it's kind of hard to even imagine Batman without Nolan. =/

lol that and it just seems so slow

Lol, true, but after the BB criticism that the fights were too "fast" and closely edited together, I don't think they had much of choice but to slooooow it down for all to see.

I'm also not sure just how much they can do with that suit anyway. Even though it allowed for head movement, TDK suit was actually heavier than the BB one. IF they ever go the cloth route, I imagine the fights would be a little more...acrobatic, for those wishing to see that

I'd like to see a new Batman television series, with a 1 hour HBO time slot, Sin City-esque cinematography, intelligent writing like on Dexter, with broad mystery story-arcs spanning several episodes.

I agree with those who are suggesting an Arkham-esque type universe for the movies. It's gritty enough to be taken seriously, but still maintains some of the fantastical elements of the Batman mythos.

Then you could finally stop the Batman movieverse from being completely closed off from the rest of DC and start to integrate and cross-polinate the different characters. Your Green Lanterns, Supes, etc. Eventually culminating in a JLA movie. I'm sure WB wants to catch up to Marvel right now.

The green screen Sin City/300 type adaptation of classic Batman graphic novels is not a terrible idea either. Real noir detective stuff.

I'm sure WB wants to catch up to Marvel right now.

I'm not too sure about that. A WB producer said that there are absolutely no plans to connect Nolan's Batman to Snyder's Superman (could be a lie as of now, but still), plus the Marvel universe is kinda falling apart, what with the lukewarm reception of IM2, Favreau leaving IM3 and yet another recast of Bruce Banner (and let's not forget the rumors about the Cap footage not looking good enough to warrant a trailer right now).

I think WB is waiting to see how Avengers will be handled and do at the BO.

There are no plans to connect the two universes as long as Nolan is around, but I bet as soon as he is gone, should WB find the prospect of a Batman-Superman team up or a Justice League movie appealing (especially if Avengers is a big success), don't be surprised if they disregard what they said before.

That's what I'm implying. I'd actually be surprised if they didn't follow the Marvel route at some point (but hopefully better organised).

What's so badly organised about what Marvel is doing? Their organisation is great, just because Iron Man 2 wasn't as good as the first doesn't mean everything is falling apart.

The recasts are the only problem I see and I think that's more to do with money than planning.

Marvel is at that risky juncture... IM2 made plenty of money... But if they forget that they have to have good stories, we'll end up with an Iron Man 3 that's like Blade 3... stinky and loaded with danger. It seems IM3 is going the route of many of Marvel's thirds...

Well, I love IM2 more than IM, so there's no gripe there from me. The problem is, apart from the money issue, they are rushing things and meddling a lot with the creative process (ie. Norton and Favreau).

Exactly... Marvel seems to be making the classic blunder... Favreau did pretty well with IM and IM2... Some of the better superhero movies out there... Let him have IM3 and let him do it his way.
