The Dark Knight Likes And Dislikes

No the second trailer was dark and serious. The third trailer is what wasnt dark and serious

Either was the TV spots, Super Bowl Spot and Final trailer for BB. It was as serious as TDK's final. Final trailers always show everything, the humor, story, action and emotions that you will see in the movie. Thats standard.

Fox didn't say 'a three button suit suit is SO 90's' he said 'a three button suit is a little 90's' you make it sound like he talks like a rich and spoiled white girl from the suburbs.

Okay so I didn't quote him exactly, the joke is still the same. A mens fashion joke about the 90's isn't very funny.

Maybe not, but it won't make or break the film and the little jokes aren't as big a deal as you make them out to be, unless you're talking about Schumacher's campiness.:brucebat:

Its just like the humor in BB and that I love about what Nolan has brought. Its not meant to be laugh out loud or comedy funny, just more sarcastic, sly, and dry humor. And I for one love that.

Amen.

I don't think Lucious is supposed to be the comic relief, and considering we don't know the full conversation, we might want to reserve judgement on whether its funny...it might be hilarious once we see the complete scene.

I didn't say it would make or break the movie, but in a 2 minute trailer I wish they had used the time better than telling bad jokes. I would have rather seen a lot more Joker or action shots.

So now we have a disscusion going on about which film is "darker"? And then in a a few months i'm sure it will be which one is better. Didn't we just go through this with Batman 1989 and The Dark Knight? Now we're pitting Begins with it's sequel, it's SEQUEL? How do we define "dark"? I mean I just don't get it. The stakes seem to be raised, does that make it darker? Or does dark mean that the body count is larger and the take on this one is more goth. (Lets give it an R rating!!! Lolz!)

I think it's pretty safe to say that this is truly the sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. It's another story building on what was great three years ago. Why does it have to be extremely different? Why does it have to be darker? I mean we don't want another Returns do we. I see alot of comparisons between TDK and Begins, but alot more similarities. (which isn't a bad thing)

As bad as the Joker seems to be in the Dark Knight, we'll never, ever see his true insanity and grusome personality like we did in the comics and the "dark" graphic novels. This might be based off of them, but we'll never see anything as graphic, as say Arkham Asylum.

I really don't understand the mentality here. It seems like alot of people really wanted to see an R rating, and others are determined to point out that Joker is saying f*** in the new footage that we've seen. Does that make it a better film? Believe me I hate camp, but these "tastes", I just don't get. "Let's see the Joker split some skulls.", "I want to see the Joker, kill a couple of kids.", "Does he listen to punk music or heavy metal?" I think The Joker even stated that he was going to give them a "better claas of criminal." I doubt he would want to be labled or titled with one personality considering he has multiple ones. Do we really have to see Batman breaking necks or the Joker carving smiles to get the idea that this is "dark"? Didn't Begins set up the universe that is the Dark Knight?

I thought most of the tv spots and trailers for BB were pretty dark and serious

I think the movie's evolved. Sure it's serious, but just 'cause there might be a light crack like Al asking about the Batpod, I don't see it as anything bad like B&R type stuff. Even in the comics that are seriously done there might be a light moment here and there as with life.

It's nothing to worry about. There's just going to be more to this story is all. The first was very dark since it was about the death of the Waynes and Bruce dealing with that and all and becoming Batman. Now there's more in the story than just that. But it still looks very dark and Joker seems pretty twisted, more than the 89 Joker even.

Well I'm not actually worried about the tone of the film at all. I just thought the trailers gave the wrong impression by cramming probably 1/2 the jokes in the entire movie into a 2 minute spot. It would take a hell of a lot of jokes to ruin the "seriousness" of Joker on film for even a single minute. :woot: And I hope they're not trying to "balance things out" ... I hope it doesn't hold back. I mean you can't have the film be all about "it gets worse before it gets better" but then pull back and throw in all this humor. So hopefully all the corny jokes in the trailers is all there are in the entire film.

Because alot of these so called nolan fans dont even understand nolans vision completely, and are completely in love with their misinterpretation of the past twenty years of Batman continuity, hence all the demand for darkness, violence, and cursing. nolan has repeatedly said that his influences for this franchise are movies like star wars, james bond, and superman the movie...His Batman movies are serious toned dark adventure movies with a little more complexity than the average blockbuster, not a superhero version of the saw franchise

It seems Joker's nasal voice may get annoying after a while.. I mean I do like it don't take me wrong...

I dislike this ridiculous heat wave..

Since when is it Foxx?

When did Lucius Fox become Jaimie Foxx?

LOL :D

It's Fox. Ya'll had me thinking of Jamie.

Violence (or whatever other "dark" thing you want to substitute) is a tool, like anything else. When it's used as a means to an end, it can be used to great effect. When it's used as an end itself, as in torture porn and other comparable trash, then, well, it's not be used to much effect at all.

The reason you have people asking for an R-rated Batman film is so that tools like violence can be used to serve a greater purpose. This doesn't mean "TEH BATMAN NEEDS 2 BE R-RATEDZ!" It means that there are things you can do in an R-rated Batman film that you can't do in a PG-13 film, some of them being good, useful things. It's not at all about just wanting senseless gore or whatever else (or, at least, it shouldn't be--I'm sure the opposite is true for some). There are some good Batman stories and good elements of Batman stories that just can't be realized in a film that's supposed to be accessible to children. If those things are important to you, then you'll want an R-rating.

If these werent the SHH! boards, I'd probably agree with what you just said...

I certainly agree with what you're saying as a storytelling device, but have you actually seen the comments on the hype from the people pushing for the R rating?

"I wanna hear Joker say f***!"
"I wanna hear Joker say c***!"
"I wanna see Joker slice Rachels face open so bad!"

I can understand people wanting an R rating for certain things, but there have been a lot of misogynistic and just plain stupid comments on the boards for why it should be rated R and what kind of content it should have in this imaginary R movie. And I'm one of the people who can't stand the Rachel character and who hopes she dies for storytelling purposes, I still find some of these suggestions offensive.

Out of curiousity, what elements would you like to see in an R-rated Batman film that would serve the story in a positive way?

Doesn't even have to serve the story. Just for visual purposes alone, I'd like to see some blood on Bats or Joker. Dare I say it, it just feels more real when you actually see damage being dealt. :o

Yeah seriously. There was no blood in BB
