And that’s fine it may not be “their” Ariel but it’s gonna be the Ariel of many kids who’ll be seeing the film for the first time and or take a preference to it over the original. Just like for me and others I know Emma Watson was #NotMyBelle but she is for people that were introduced to the movie through her or take a liking to that film over the animated film.

Will Disney erase the original Ariel in the Disney Princesses brand... which by the way just appeared in Ralph Breaks the Internet with the other Disney princesses. Time will tell though if the new Ariel would serve as a replacement. Personally speaking, this new Ariel would just be the live action movie version of the popular Disney character, just like Watson's Belle and James' Cinderella. I always look back at the animated version (the og Disney version) as the template.

Time will tell though if the new Ariel would serve as a replacement. Personally speaking, this new Ariel would just be the live action movie version of the popular Disney character, just like Watson's Belle and James' Cinderella. I always look back at the animated version (the og Disney version) as the template.

Of course they aren’t gonna erase the animated Ariel that Disney Princess line is strong and I’m sure after Ralph 2 they’re figuring how to make that crossover film. But what I’m saying is there are kids that will be seeing the story for the first time through this film, just like with the other remakes. They will probably then see the animated film and choose which one is their fave. I think about it like the Disney Cinderella remake from the 90s with Brandy and Whitney Houston. I don’t think I had seen Disney’s animated film before then and even after I did see it the 90s movie was still my fave, though I do like the animated film.

That’s what I’m saying. Yea she’s black in this movie but the face of little mermaid will be a white woman at Disney world and various merch. Unless it’s changed but I mean this isn’t the first princess to be black or a different color anyway.

That's when you learn that the snap tore a hole in the multiverse and all the alternate versions of every Disney-owned character can exist in the same universe, even and including ours because The Mouse owns "everything".

Never seen nor intend to see The Little Mermaid, I just know "Under the Sea" and that she leaves her family for hot guy who kills evil drag queen octopus lady with a boat, so I've got no stake in this at all and I'm just laughing at the people who are mad.

I would like a live action adaptation of Moana though not keen in a cross over with The Little Mermaid, unless they exist in the same universe as Watson's Beauty and the Beast, James' Cinderella and Yifei's Mulan.

It works fine in the comic community.
I feel like the multiverse idea would end a lot of useless *****ing and moaning.

EDIT: And just to be clear, I'm not suggesting this is the reason Halle got the part... based and what I'm hearing she's a talented girl, I'm sure she deserved it. What I'm saying is that Disney is neither surprised nor unhappy about the controversy surrounding her casting.

If they did do a live action Moana, the actress who played her in the animated one might just be young enough to play her live. But they probably won't do one soon so she'll have aged out of the role.

Yeah she's perfect for the role. And I don't mind if she plays Moana even in her late 20s. She's one of those actresses that would certainly still look young 10 years from now.
