Live-Action The Little Mermaid

You know what would be cool if they ever do it is have a PP, TLM, AIW, and every other fairy tale story combined like MCU Avengers style. Like one movie for each one and then they all could team up! I been thinking about this for years since I saw the Avengers and OUAT.

I think you will see Into The Woods marketed like that in November/December, in order to bring in the general audiences outside of the musical theatre fanclub.

Ever After High and Once Upon a Time?

You are not alone in this :)
It would be great with Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Jack (with the beanstalk) in a fantasy/fairy tale team. They could also bring in a character from a Roald Dahl book, like Charlie Bucket.
Other ways to go are:
1. To give Wonderland some far-fetched connection to Narnia.
or
2. Peter Pan being sucked into a wormhole and he ends up in Middle-Earth.

Do you know about Into The Woods? It has Cinderella, Jack and Red Riding Hood in major roles, with Rapunzel and two Prince Charmings in there as well. Snow White and Sleeping Beauty make minor appearances.

It comes out December 2014! (Yes, it is a cerebral metaphorical musical, not an adventure movie in the strictest sense, but I am going to keep pushing people on this website to see it!).

I know about ITW and I look forward to it :)
But I would also like to see more of a "save the kingdom" (if set in medieval times), "save the country" (the 1800s) or "save the world" (present day) type of adventure. With magic playing a huge part of the story.
It doesn't just have to be stories/books that have been loved for generations, More recent stuff can also be added. To have Aang The Airbender, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter or Twilight in the same story as classic characters like Red Riding Hood, Alice, Caspian, Bilbo, Merlin, Odysseus and/or Robin Hood, it could be a fantasy nerd's wet dream.

To be honest, I've felt the entire Disney Princesses situation is a franchise that's not quite a franchise, yet. But it is a huge potential sleeping giant of creative content and marketing that Disney has in its portfolio.

All this talk of crossover fairy tales sounds like the book series 'The Hero's guide to saving your kingdom'. It's about the princes from Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel, teaming up to save their kingdoms from a witch and make a name for themselves. It's actually a good children's series that I thought was being adapted for film, haven't heard any further development on it though.

Well, Disney already crossed-over Tangled with Frozen, so it can be done.

While that would be interesting to watch, I wouldn't be against more subtle cameos like having one of Ariels sisters (or all of them) being the mermaids that Pan interacts with and who don't like Wendy.

But I guess if they pulled a Once/Fables where a big threat comes to destroy their world.

Hmm...

If I didnt know anything about her I wouldnt be against it, but she seems really bored with acting and esp is against keeping her hair red.

AnnaSophia Robb? this could work.

i googled her and found only pics and gifs of her butt. strange. its popular because its bouncing haha :woot:

Can't wait for this, I love the original animated film. I hope they cast an unknown as Ariel.

So, Disney are just going to go through their entire catalogue of animated films and turn them into live action?

How long is it going to take? TLM animated film was in development for like 20 years before it actually got made.

But make it good Disney! Don't screw up Ursula.

I just don't see the point of doing live action versions of animated films.

People like to see these things being played by real people.

Is it because they somehow think kids don't watch 2D cartoons any more, so everything has to be CGI or live action or else kids will ignore it?

Here's an idea - how about adapting new fairy tales to live action and leaving their classics alone? It's not like there aren't other stories out there they could do, instead of retreads of past hits.

Waiting for the live action Lion King...

I wouldn't be surprised if they just cut right to the chase and make a live action Frozen already. Strike while the iron is hot and all that...
