The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

He looks beastly just like he should, makes a perfect physical challenge for Spidey, I mean I dont know what some people expected a slightly taller and scrawny looking lizard?

It's nitpicking over the design, really. I approve of the overall visual of the Lizard. He's menacing without being over-the-top.

I'm ok with it. I would have prefered a snout, but the humanoid face gives him a really creepy quality.

A snout would be a nice feature, but it doesn't matter to me. Same thing for the lab coat. I know some would prefer the lab coat, but I imagine when Connors is transforming into the Lizard, the lab coat will either be shredded, or he would take it off as he transforms.

That's fascinating. We women keep our man's in a pouch as well. :p

As for the look, I like it. Still getting used to the short/no snout. But I need to see more in order to make a final decision.

Really DA? I dont think we need to discuss Venom in here, I dont know if you watched the same SM3 as I did but Venom did not look like the comic counterpart at all, if anything it was a bastardized version.

Not to get deep into it, but if you ignore screentime or personality and just consider the visual appearance of Venom....I thought he looked pretty awesome. He reminded me of the original McFarlen Venom who was only slightly bigger than Spidey. But he had the fangs, the tongue, the eyes, the white spider emblem, and I personally liked the raised webbing inclusion as it fit well with the aesthetic of Raimi's films.

To me, this Lizard would be like if they did a Venom without fangs, but normal teeth, a nose and instead of a white spider, he was a complete black ninja looking character. That's a bastardization and that's kind of what they did to Lizard, in my opinion.

To be fair, they obviously based him on the Ditko version of Lizard. It's not like he never had a flat face in the comics. If the Ditko version wouldn't exist, then we could call it bastardization. But as it stands right now, they simply went with a version of the character, that simply not everyone likes.

Agreed.

Who knows, maybe they'll have a surprise for us. Maybe, while trying to convert other people into Lizards, he gets even more Lizard DNA injected and transforms even more. Doc Connors would be completely gone and all you'd have would be a creature acting on instinct. I hope they'll do something like that.

Does the Lizard talk? That might explain his simian-shaped face.

The scene in the trailer is the scene they showed at SDCC.

People who saw the SDCC footage said that the Lizard in the promo art, etc was almost exactly how he looked in the footage. People who hadn't seen the footage were adamant that he would have a snout based on those two low quality stills...

If you really just look at this:

And this:

You will see the similarities. The square brow, everything, it's there.

People said that the reason why his face looks so long in those pics is because he was STICKING his neck out. Everyone mentioned that he had a flat face after seeing the footage.

maybe thats what his lizard men will look like?
like komodo dragons

Oh, god....you simple minded-fellow, you don't know, do you?

Ultimate Spider-Man will mostly be based on the Ultimate comics and we WILL be getting Ultimate versions of the villains.

I feel sorry for you, now.
you need to be more conscious of your idiocy. first you were referring to do the design which is nothing to do with the plot.

i never implied that the plot won't be based off the comics. but someone dense like yourself, i expect, would misinterpret something that simple.

in case you're still too damn dumb to understand my point, here it is. design in ultimate spiderman comics:

holy **** does that look the same to you? i don't know what to expect considering what you've shown to be your mental capacity, or your ability to make visual deductions, or both. i really don't know what to expect from you!

should we really expect to see that kind of exaggerated body frame that we see in the comics, on the cartoon series as well? thought so. similarly, most characters in the ultimate comics, especially those drawn by Bagley (?) were styled that way.

apparently Amnot_Dumbami would expect a purple Lizard that looks like a spinosaurus to show up in the cartoon. and you sir feel sorry for me, for what?

if that's the case i wonder what's their rationale behind that. if a poll is conducted i'd bet "not everyone likes" is more accurately "almost no one likes", with 95% or more preferring the raptor-like version. personally i'll estimate it over 99%.

Not the McFarlane version I remember.

He even came off too fatty-bulky at times.

Need to see more. And I'm really not expecting much from the CG. After all, Sony Imageworks is responsible for it...

Who cares what the suit looks like? The deal is that the cartoon WILL be using the Ultimate versions of the villains, thus meaning a purple fish-lizard instead of what Lizard should look like, if Dr. Connors is involved in the series, so already what we see of Lizard in the reboot is better. Did you prove me wrong on anything? Nothing. Take a look at the USM poster for the cartoon....yah, the character designs look exactly like USM

"Amnot_Dumbami"....that took some of your time in thinking of that, huh? Especially with Dumbami I'm sure :awesome:

I wonder if you even know what my name even means, hah.

I think his face should look more like this.

LizardChap.gif

The face he has in the movie reminds me of Goombas from Super Mario movie.

Spider-Man's build is perfect in this picture, he's still fairly slender but with a nice amount of muscle mass as well.
