Logan Logan - news & discussion - Part 1

If it's Legacy then they are probably all dead, I'm just completely flabbergasted that Professor X is still alive. He should have been dead ages ago especially with Logan showing signs of aging. Before Logan grew his first gray hair X would have been dead decades and by the time Rogue, Storm and Jean hit their 60's he would have looked like he did in DOFP.

I was thinking the same. Especially Jean. If Xavier could survive it somehow, surely she could. Of course she could have sacrificed herself for like the 5th time at some point before that lol

Also, I guess with the theory of changing things in the past causing a different future. It could be that, yeah they stopped the assassination and the whole DoFP future happening, but it could've also set off events that were different but just as bad. So it's pretty easy to explain that things went to **** not too long after the altered future we saw at the end of DoFP.

I'm shocked Fox let Mangold make a movie like this. Maybe this is their way of apologizing to him after meddling with The Wolverine.

Although who knows, maybe we'll have a CGI filled third act in this one too ;)

Name your CGI setting :)

They've already done CGI baseball stadiums, submarines and moving the golden gate bridge.

I like the low budget look to the movie. You take out the X-men elements and it could be a nice character piece movie.

I liked the scene of Logan and Xavier in the car running from the bad guys.

It was almost like Sicario

There are definitely some mutants around. Caliban, there's a "Mutant Kid" according to the cast list and a bunch of other unknown roles. I think they'll be an X-Man or two around somewhere.

X-MEN are best when they are grittier storytelling without over selling FX.

Almost Western'ish/Apocalyptic in tone. I would love to see new handlers take the X-MEN into that direction but I doubt that will ever happen.

Didnt DOFP erase X3? So would the cure even be in this timeline?

Beast could develop already something in the 1970s that suppressed his mutant powers, I guess other scientist should be able to develop something similar 40 years later in the new timeline...maybe this cure transformed into a virus and killed most mutants? I think I would have gone with this explanation.

It's a decent trailer...

BUT HOW IN THE HELL IS PROFESSOR X STILL ALIVE? I mean seriously he should have been dead in Days of Future Past if you look at the time line. Logan also shouldn't have aged and here he's old but the Professor is still alive and practically looks the same? WTF?

None of the timeline is making any sense. Also if they are using X23 for this movie then she's not to be used in the upcoming X-MEN Film?

Fox seems to be doing more damage on this time line than anything else. They really need to scrap this franchise clean then reboot.

Xavier looks very old and feeble here; it's not like they're treating him like a spry young dude; they're emphasizing the fact that he is very old. And he's in his 80s-90s here. Plenty of people live that long. You're acting like people should be dead by the time they hit 65.

Logan looks older because 1) he IS older: Wolverine was never going to look 40 for the rest of eternity and 2) his healing factor is losing effectiveness, which is why he has scars and appears to be (finally) showing signs of aging. But even despite this, he hardly looks over 50; they're not treating him like a senior citizen. For a guy well over 100 years old, looking 50 is pretty damn good, even with healing powers.

Question. Where would Deadpool fit into this? It's very over the top with action and blood and guts.

I hope studios get the picture that giant CGI cities being destroyed with an army of CGI minions is getting old.

No wanton destruction that cost millions of dollars to make that looks like it will cost billions to fix.

Here's hoping the Avengers VS Thanos fight takes place in a warehouse or a more smaller setting

It will fit just like any of the other movies, the idea is to give them different tones.

Hey when all 4 transformers movies still make ALOT of money... they probably won't get that for as long as they continue to make money.

Xmen Apocalypse, Deadpool and this film could not look or feel anymore different from each other. That's the xmen universe, different varieties of stories to tell. Fox have just started to scratch the surface of this franchise.

Damn good trailer. Loving the western/samurai feel to it.

Chances are they would rather it be natural old age rather then virus old age

It would annoy me greatly if they'd just ignore his healing factor like that. Natural old age for Logan should kick in in another 100-200 years. With the line Mutants are gone though, I hope for something unnatural being the cause of his current condition.

My God. Trailer just little masterpiece. So dramatic, touching, beautiful. Hugh, Patrick... time... and music... I cry. Beautiful. Just amazing. Best trailer in this year.

In Days of Future Past, they mentioned sending Logan back fifty years to 1973, meaning the future was set in 2023. Supposedly Logan the movie takes place in 2024. So there's nothing more incredulous about Charles being alive in Logan than being alive in DOFP.

Also, as others have pointed out, Charles seems very old and frail and on his way out in Logan.

My question....what timeline is this? Is this a dark alternate timeline like the Sentinels in DOFP, or this the one true way that the future ends up for mutants and the X-Men?

If so....well, that's depressing.

This.

People are too much focused on "continuity" in terms of visuals, approach, tone and structure, which frankly speaking limits creativity in storytelling.

Let different comic book movies have different flavors, they need not look and feel same, it doesn't matter if they don't seem to exist together in same universe.

Just imagine how Xavier feels, if he's lost all his kids all over again (it damn near destroyed him the first time in DOFP), and then recapturing a tiny scrap of it at that dinner table with Logan and the girl.

Patrick is so gonna bring the feels, I can already tell. The weariness and frailty, but still the eternal compassion and hope ("someone has come along").

I think this takes place in the reset timeline right? That'd make the most sense.

It's pretty sad that despite all that, years down the line (however long this is) thing still didn't turn out harmonious.

Supposedly 2024.

Damn...I can't stop watching this trailer.

Anyone else reminded of The Last of Us (if you're into video games)?

Wow, if there was ever an image that summed it all up. 17 years and this is where it ends. I was a little kid when I first saw x-men in 2000. Now I'm pretty much a grown man.

Granted I've had Logan fatigue like a lot of other people, but right around apocalypse I realized just how truly iconic/irreplaceable Hugh was in the role. We've all grown up with with Hugh's Wolverine in our lives. That's something we can't say about any other comic book character in the movies.
