Charles is definitely dying in this.

I would've preferred to close the door on the original cast with DOFP (including Hugh) just because that ending was so good, but if Logan is great, then I can't be mad about it.

Yeah, feeling the same.

I can't wait to see Logan and Charles together in this. Stewart ALWAYS brings it. This is going to be a little bit more emotional than I expected.

Man, it looks like he's burying someone in that last (?) scene...

If it's Charles... ohhh man... :( I don't think I'll be able to hold back the tears.

Yea, the moment I realized it could be Charles' grave my heart missed a beat. Maaan, it's gonna be really tough time going through this film is the cinema. Yet I sooo cannot wait! :woot:

(But maybe it's Calivan grave? But I think Charles and Logan will both die in this... :csad:)

Good trailer.

Stealing this if you don't mind :woot:

I suppose the question is do we need an explanation to why logan is there? after a 10 year period?

And to be fair her helping logan was her helping mutants, we all just assumed it was a cliffhanger.

Perhaps the frustration is in the fact that people expected some surprise conclusion to it when it just went the same direction anyway

Anyway back to logan!

I think the question really should be: Why show Mystique fishing out Logan in the first place if he ends up in the same place years/a decade later?

They really could've filmed *anything else* to show that Logan's Time-travelling shenanigans caused changes significant enough that this is a new "Past" from this point onward.

Oh wow what a trailer. All goosebumps and feels. So emotional. March come sooner.

Yeah the trailer was undeniably great, but I'm really not sure how to feel about the mutants being on the verge of extinction just one year after the events of DofP. It kinda undermines the ending of that movie.

Actually, this being set one year after Days of Future Past is NOT confirmed. From the looks of both Logan and Xavier this is probably set a decade or so after we have last seen them.

And I actually don't think the movie will explicitly elaborate on when it's set. If I had to guess, it's simply set some time in the future.

Now that I've seen the trailer a few times and completely ignored the x-men movies of recent years the movie looks interesting

so many emotions conveyed in that footage

Well we see in a deleted scene that the original idea was that it was gonna be the real stryker but singer felt the stryker ending felt like something we had seen before and wanted to do something different just like when he swapped juggernaut for quicksilver for the same reason.

They were thinking about having charles and hank fish him out but decided it worked better for mystique since it went full circle with her saving havok and Co at the start to her saving logan at the end

Thats basically whats been said but i think people ignore it because they wanted it to be a deeper meaning cliffhanger but in the long run it probably worked better that logan still went through the weapon X thing rather then changing things so much he no longer is that character

At some point mangold or perhaps a synopsis will tell us when its set.

I thought this shot from the trailer would fit right in with one of the recent Metal Gear games.

Then why the heck are some people saying it is? :argh: You know what, nevermind. I'm glad to know it was false information. It really wouldn't make much sense anyway.

I love the aesthetic in this.

visually it has a very indie drama film vibe like midnight special or hell or highwater

What's interesting to me is that, after everything that they've endured over the decades, what's causing Logan and Xavier to finally fade away is apparently simple age. They're just so old by this point that it's wreaking havoc on them. Xavier is old and feeble and has Alzheimer's which is causing him to lose both his memory and control of his psychic powers. And Logan's healing factor is fading and as a result his body is breaking down (also there's that whole potential Adamantium poisoning thing hanging over his head as well).

And yeah, Xavier at least is a dead man here. I'm almost positive of that.

So how much time do we think has passed between this and the happy ending of DoFP?

I wanna say minimum of 15 years between these two Logans:

So I'd say it's approximately the year 2040 or so. This puts Xavier at over 110 years old. What a trooper.

My theory is that Essex unleashed a version of the Legacy Virus which killed or depowered most of the mutants. And then the Reavers hunted the rest down later on.
