Logan Logan - news & discussion - Part 1

My real concern with this film is that it's set in 2024, just a year after the happy ending of DoFP. If it was five years later, that would seem more logical.

One year for Logan's healing to start leaving big scars? One year for Xavier to be in a care home with Alzheimer's? One year for all the other X-Men to be missing/dead?

It just doesn't feel right.

just because thats the ending you saw in dofp doesn't mean thats the 2023 that we live through in Logan

bryan singer said so himself
“I’ll kill any of those characters any day I want. They’re all fair game. Anything can happen. When two things are happening simultaneously in quantum physics it’s what’s called the Super Position and when the Observer finally observes the outcome that’s called the ‘Collapsing of the Super Position’ which is what happened when Wolverine woke up and saw all the happiness. So yes that is the outcome we hope for, that is the outcome we aspire to, and that’s the outcome we are moving towards, but we saw in Days of Future Past another dark world. What says that can’t happen again? What says the awakening of a being that has such power and can acquire the power to destabilize that? So anything is possible. That’s what we’d like to think happens, that’s what Simon would like to think is a good outcome, but to me it’s fair game.”

What a way to trick the audience! Keep it Bryan!

I feel you! This is such a departure from the happy ending that we got in Dofp! I'll be so pissed if Xavier and Logan are the last two X-Men and the rest are dead again. Oh Fox, clean up your mess!

How old professor Xavier is able to get should be concidered to make a realistic suggestion of time. 2024 seems right.

I will squeal if Famke, James Marsden, Anna, Shawn, Ellen, Kelsey and Queen Halle or just one of them cameos at the end to pick up Dafne Keen!

In fairness, there hasn't been any real "confirmation" about which year this takes place in. The rumor was it takes place in 2023, but Mangold has said they're well past the epilogue from DOFP. "Well past," to me, doesn't scream one year later.

And of course the other rumor from IMDB Trivia is the film takes place in 2033.

Either way, I don't buy we're only a year after DOFP epilogue.

And I like than Mangold has said he's much older now, still healing fast, but scars are left behind now.

Even if takes in 2070, it would limit them using the other X-Men in the present day or future day setting. And don't tell me that they are gonna undo these deaths again. Anyway, the other X-Men are screwed if they are dead again.

It was thewrap.com that said it was 2024 but they also gave other details that turned out to be true like steven merchant playing caliban and this was pre-trailer and pre-black and white images

“Logan” takes place in the year 2024. The film is dark. Darker than any other other “Wolverine” or “X-Men” movie.

Old Man Logan is in full effect. Logan looks bad, and drinks a lot. For work, he drives a 2024 Chrysler 300 limo that looks modified in the front to look more futuristic. He’s sick, his powers are fading, and he heals much more slowly — and sometimes not at all.

We learned further details from an insider who said that the girl in the poster is a young mutant. In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.

There’s more. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) is old and not well. His powers are unstable and at times he doesn’t even remember Logan. Stephen Merchant plays the Albino mutant Caliban, who helps Logan take care of Professor X.

Now they could have got the date wrong but i wouldn't rule out 2024 as being real too though.

I think Elizabeth Rodriguez is playing Sarah Kinney.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. And it would be great if they give us Lauren's back story.

I just hope no actual dates get mentioned in the Movie. I could buy Logan's healing factor kicking the bucket because of something like the Legacy Virus and as a result of it he ages more rapidly, but I just can't buy Xavier looking like he aged another 15 years and became all senile in the span of a year.

Sorry got the year wrong. I meant the rumor was 2024. Which hasn't been confirmed. Yes, it was from thewrap.com...but that report is from Umberto Gonzalez. He's very hit and miss with his "scoops." So I don't automatically jump on everything he posts.

Question, will this be Jackman's last ever appearance as Wolverine when it comes to movies? Because I'd really love to see Deadpool & Wolverine on the big screen together. Even a small cameo would suffice.

all signs point to yes this will be jackman's final appearance as wolverine.wolverine may even day at end of this film.

It's a shame, we have Deadpool and Logan finally embracing the R-rating, and we'll never get to see them sharing the screen again.

Fox is a shame. We'll never see Hugh Jakman wearing his movie version astonishing costume lol

Alan Cumming and Cudmore will never return ?
Ok Alan hates make-up but Cudmore would be interested to back as cameo ?

I liked the trailer, but the story does seem kinda similar to the Last of Us at the moment.

I did not mention Alan because he wasn't in Dofp, but I would like to see him return. While Cudmore turned down the Deadpool role, so I don't see them casting him again.

As I recall, he was never approached for it.

Apparently he was asked but the catch was that he wasn't gonna be the voice of colossus, the character wouldn't be seen out of steel form and colossus would be mostly a cgi in bulk and height with Daniel just doing Motion capture really.

And obviously he said no.

I think Jackman would come back every now and then. Deaddpool's crew really knows how to work costumes out (I mean, the best X-costumes we've seen were in that film!) and we have yet to see something like this:

it shouldn't be too hard for them to use Jackman and some stunt devils in future X-Men/Avengers films, imo.

It is a shame that now they have sorted Deadpool out they wont get the chance to finally lay to rest the ghosts of Origins but it seems like this is the end for Jackman.

Thanks for the replies guys, and yeah, it really is a shame :(
