My real concern with this film is that it's set in 2024, just a year after the happy ending of DoFP. If it was five years later, that would seem more logical.
One year for Logan's healing to start leaving big scars? One year for Xavier to be in a care home with Alzheimer's? One year for all the other X-Men to be missing/dead?
It just doesn't feel right.
Ill kill any of those characters any day I want. Theyre all fair game. Anything can happen. When two things are happening simultaneously in quantum physics its whats called the Super Position and when the Observer finally observes the outcome thats called the Collapsing of the Super Position which is what happened when Wolverine woke up and saw all the happiness. So yes that is the outcome we hope for, that is the outcome we aspire to, and thats the outcome we are moving towards, but we saw in Days of Future Past another dark world. What says that cant happen again? What says the awakening of a being that has such power and can acquire the power to destabilize that? So anything is possible. Thats what wed like to think happens, thats what Simon would like to think is a good outcome, but to me its fair game.

I will squeal if Famke, James Marsden, Anna, Shawn, Ellen, Kelsey and Queen Halle or just one of them cameos at the end to pick up Dafne Keen!
I really wish Mangold could have released this film in black and white.

In fairness, there hasn't been any real "confirmation" about which year this takes place in. The rumor was it takes place in 2023, but Mangold has said they're well past the epilogue from DOFP. "Well past," to me, doesn't scream one year later.
And of course the other rumor from IMDB Trivia is the film takes place in 2033.
Either way, I don't buy we're only a year after DOFP epilogue.
And I like than Mangold has said he's much older now, still healing fast, but scars are left behind now.
“Logan” takes place in the year 2024. The film is dark. Darker than any other other “Wolverine” or “X-Men” movie.
Old Man Logan is in full effect. Logan looks bad, and drinks a lot. For work, he drives a 2024 Chrysler 300 limo that looks modified in the front to look more futuristic. He’s sick, his powers are fading, and he heals much more slowly — and sometimes not at all.
We learned further details from an insider who said that the girl in the poster is a young mutant. In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.
There’s more. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) is old and not well. His powers are unstable and at times he doesn’t even remember Logan. Stephen Merchant plays the Albino mutant Caliban, who helps Logan take care of Professor X.
I think Elizabeth Rodriguez is playing Sarah Kinney.

It was thewrap.com that said it was 2024 but they also gave other details that turned out to be true like steven merchant playing caliban and this was pre-trailer and pre-black and white images
Now they could have got the date wrong but i wouldn't rule out 2024 as being real too though.
Question, will this Jackman's last ever appearance as Wolverine when it comes to movies? Because I'd really love to see Deadpool & Wolverine on the big screen together. Even a small cameo would suffice.
I feel you! This is such a departure from the happy ending that we got in Dofp! I'll be so pissed if Xavier and Logan are the last two X-Men and the rest are dead again. Oh Fox, clean up your mess!
It's a shame, we have Deadpool and Logan finally embracing the R-rating, and we'll never get to see them sharing the screen again.

Time travel and create a 3rd timeline
Fox is a shame. We'll never see Hugh Jakman wearing his movie version astonishing costume lol
Alan Cumming and Cudmore will never return ?
Ok Alan hates make-up but Cudmore would be interested to back as cameo ?
I did not mention Alan because he wasn't in Dofp, but I would like to see him return. While Cudmore turned down the Deadpool role, so I don't see them casting him again.
As I recall, he was never approached for it.
