since they didnt want to reveal that she is x23 when the trailer was realesed they removed her claws from this scene. smart.

Yeah I figured that was Laura when I first saw the trailer. But either they have not added the CGI claws or have removed any practical ones they did use.

Chances are they will be CGI'd in since how would they make practical claws look like they are stabbing people?

I just can't wait for her to cut loose in the Movie. The fight choreography should be insane with her extra blades in her feet.

Plus it'll be great to see the young girl who looks like she weights about 70 pounds soaking wet beat the crap out of adult thugs.

I read "X23: Innocence Lost" yesterday for the first time (I'm doing my homework to see the movie next year). Great comic. I hope they will take their time in this movie to show X23's traumatizing origin. And I also hope all of these disgusting scientists who created her will also get what they deserve in the movie version and she will kill all of them.

I love X23's casting, by the way. Although I think X23 could actually be intended to be Asian, or?

Well, her mother is Sarah Kinney. I'm not sure if they ever revealed her nationality. But I think most artists always depicted her as asian or hispanic looking.

Are we going to see Sarah Kinney in this movie? This is a Wolverine movie with rescuing X-23 serving as the plot. I am sure they will give some backstory to X-23, but I wonder if movie has focus on her origin.

well her nationality is Canadian. As a clone of Wolverine, her race is whatever he is and that is a Caucasian

I think Elizabeth Rodriguez is playing Sarah Kinney.

X-23 isn't a simple female Wolverine clone though. It's not like she was grown in a tube (unless that gets changed for the Movie), but Sarah Kinney served as her surrogate mother, X-23 shares genes with Logan and Sarah. So she is definitely a mix and not just simply Caucasian. But again, I don't know if Sarah was meant to be Caucasian, Asian or even Hispanic.

She doesnt shares DNA with anyone but Wolveirne. She wouldnt be a modified "clone" of his if she did and would be more like a half sister. To my recollection she was created from 2 of his X chromosomes. Sarah is no more genetically linked to Laura than a random surrogate, a rich person hires to carry their child. Surrogate mothers do not have any genetic connection to a fetus that is placed inside them. She's irrelevant as her race would have had no impact on what Laura would turn out to be

Then I am surprised Laura and Sarah look so much alike. Laura even has her green eyes instead of Wolverine's blue eyes. Even in the cartoon Laura has Sarah's skin tone instead of Wolverine's. Whatever the comics and cartoons tell us, what they show us is completely different.

*Edit*

Well, watching the X-Men Evolution Episode again, X-23's Origin is a bit different here. There's no Sarah Kinney, instead it's Deborah Risman. And no hint of her being Laura's surrogate mother. X-23 also isn't a proper clone, well, genetic twin of Wolverine. They tried replicating the Weapon X project by themselves and using Wolverine's healing factor made it possible. In the comics, the goal from the beginning was to clone Wolverine, which kept resulting in failure because the DNA sequences were damaged. I guess it's open to interpretation if Sarah Kinney used her own X-chromosome, to repair Wolverine's damaged one. And since Laura very much looks like Sarah's actual daughter, I like to think that's what she did.

The casting calls did call for Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian actresses for her, so I'm pretty sure they were looking at all the options for some of the diverse depictions of Laura.

They better bring back Shingen for this movie.

You can beleive that if you want but thats not what was written. She didnt repair any chromosome. The Y chromosome was damaged so she duplicated his X. Both alleles came from Wolverines, not her

Let's be real here... casting an Asian kid to play what will be presented in the movie as definitely-not-Asian Wolverine's clone would have just been an unnecessary cause of confusion for the general audience.

It's silly, but it is what it is, and I think Fox made the right call by casting Keen. Also, I may be the only but I do see a resemblance between her and Jackman. I wonder how she'd look with mutton chops. :o

Well, he might look terrible by Wolverine's standards, but he still looks a helluva better than than most 200 years old men.

Everything I saw from Keen in trailer looks to me like not just good but great casting. Still it's just a trailer. But I think everyone is more than ok with casting.
