I know I'm gonna get slammed for being negative but Logan only gets a 7/10 for me. I loved the look, tone, and atmosphere of the film although I thought the first act was much, much stronger than the final two and the story got weaker as the film progressed. Great acting all around. Loved Donald Pierce and the Reavers, X-23, and Jackman's old, beaten-down Wolverine.

That said, the inclusion of X-24 nearly ruined the movie for me. I get that the director was essentially creating a metaphor for fighting against yourself/your nature but cloning the main character was so boring and lazy. There were any number of characters that would have been more interesting - Sabertooth, Omega Red, or Lady Deathstrike to name just a few that would have made logical sense within the narrative. The creation of X-24 is another Barackapool for me and cost the film AT LEAST 2-3 points. I said it in another thread but X-24 is a MASSIVE stain on an otherwise excellent movie.

No you aren't. You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion. Not a fan of X-24 either, though he is slowly growing on me, but it didn't bring the movie down for me personally. :)

Haha you cannot be slammed for your opinion! If someone tries, they're at fault not you.

Unlike criticisms from others because they didn't actually pay attention :D

In the last seventeen years we've had two Batmans, two Superman, three Spider-Mans, three Hulks, two War Machines(!) and even different iterations of X-Men characters. But there has only been one Wolverine. The superhero genre is a movement in cinema history and Hugh Jackman is one of its icons.

Hugh Jackman is its Icon and Patriach
Morton Downey Jr.Its Spokesperson.

It's okay. I felt the last 30 minutes of the movie was the weakest parts of the movie.

Meh, having Sabertooth in this film sounds like fan service. And it would detract from Logan, Laura, and Charles. Or people would complain about how Sabertooth was wasted.

IMO the entire scene with X-24 in the farmhouse felt straight out of a horror movie, and I don't think that would have been as effective with Sabertooth.

My favorite shot in the movie is the stare down between X-24 and Logan

I disagree. First, it wouldn't be too hard to justify that Creed went back to what is essentially the new Weapon X program. Second, by cutting out Pierce and X24, you give more time to devote to one villain.

It's a logical follow through of Creed's character, it streamlines the film, and makes one of the antagonists more personal. X24 was executed well for what it was, but at the end of the day it's always going to be incredibly on the nose. Creed would have fixed that aspect.

I didn't care for X-24 being thrown in either. I wouldn't say a more personal villain would have been, because the conflict was personal. It was Old Logan facing off against the young mindless beast Wolverine. Fighting against what he use to be. I still would have liked a Sabretooth or a more old school rival.

X-24 was the ultimate "What If" realized before our eyes.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wolverine as a villain in the future and how future X-men would handle him....hmmm

Wolverines already been a villain in Logan.

X24 was logan if he was nothing but rage and obviously a villain.

I still think that X-Men: Apocalypse dropped the ball BIG TIME by not making Wolverine one of the Horsemen.

Extremely missed opportunity.

Yep. And because Apocalypse created and designed the costumes for his horseman, it would have been a perfect opportunity to create the suit for Wolverine.

With the cloning connections to weapon X its probably better the weapon X thing still happened.

Logan would've kill dem kids without Storm, Psylocke or Angel...smh

Prof. X would've had to lobotomized him to stop him...that would've been a hardcore x-movie...

Just got back. While my opinion might change as more time goes on and I've had more time to think about it, at this point, Logan would b the first comic book film that I would give a 10/10 to. Just excellent in every way.

This movie drained me emotionally, which is more than I can say for any other superhero movie I've ever seen before it. Definitely the best film in the X-franchise, and a worthy send-off for Jackman and Stewart.

Saw it for the 2nd time today! Still absolutely love it! People cried. Can't wait to buy this thing on Blu-ray! I might try to sneek in a third showing before that though.

Don't know if I'd give this a 9 or a 10. But awesome flick and loved pretty much every second of it.:up:

This is a very good film, but I don't quite think it lives up to the hype of it being the best CBM since The Dark Knight. Heck, overall I preferred Fox's own film Deadpool from a year ago.

Everyone knows the positives, so I'll focus on the two major problems that stand out to me.

The first is the same thing that has plagued almost every recent CBM, which is mediocre villains. I won't bother going into much detail because they are the same generic baddies we've seen a hundred times.

The bigger problem is that I thought the movie was extremely predictable. I don't mean just in terms of the big picture. We know James Bond is likely going to stop the villain and save the world. The fun is in seeing how it happens. Even Marvel which is notorious for being formulaic managed to throw some twists in how things were resolved in their two films from last year. But here, practically every single major story beat is telegraphed well in advance. There isn't a single surprise or twist or anything in this movie. It happens exactly how you would expect. As an example, take X-24. The very second he appears on screen I knew how he would be defeated and the circumstances surrounding it. And sure enough, an hour later it happens exactly like that. And that's just one example. The whole movie is like that.

Overall, 8/10. What it does well, it does really well, and it is perfect as a sendoff for Jackman and Stewart, but the flaws are too glaring for me to give it more than that.

No worries dude. :) In my first viewing, X24 COMPLETELY killed my buzz and took me out of the movie. Like, I was legitimately taken aback and not in a good way.

But I would suggest to give it some time and let it marinate, let the theme and idea behind X24's inclusion marinate a little bit and go see it again. In my second viewing X24 barely bothered me at all.

Saw the movie just a little while ago! (also hey y'all it's been a while lol)

Anyway, I cried. I don't cry in movies. That's my review haha

Saw it with my girlfriend and a couple friends . I thought it was brilliant despite maybe being a little distracted for just a small portion of the film by the " girlfriend " part :cwink: ( which I will definitely make up for by rewatching the film lol.) I definitely teared up a bit at the ending . "So this is what it's like..." :csad:

saw it today
as a final outing for hugh jackman's wolverine portrayal it was the perfect sendoff for him
considering he has had plenty of standout moments across all of the wolverine appearances it was nice to have a stripped down almost action filled character study/retrospective of his journey across the 17 years he has portrayed logan/Wolverine

the higher rating made for much more entertaining and brutal wolverine action
i loved hugh's chemistry with patrick and the young girl that played x-23/laura who was fantastic

the only thing that imo would've felt complete was if the trademark suit showed up just once considering it is the last time for jackman

overall it was amazing, and an early contender for my favourite of 2017
definitely brought a smile and admittedly many tears
9/10

Saw it earlier, was great. Couple of things I didn't like so much towards the end, and I wasn't a big fan of X-24's inclusion, but it was a good send-off for Hugh and the character.

Dafne was great.

Saw it, and loved it. This was a great way for Jackman to leave the roll.

The film has problems for sure, but what makes it work is the human emotional level of the film. Much like the MCU films have been doing, this is a CBM film in a genre setting, specifically a western. Hence all the Shane references in the film.

I think it was great to see an emotional connection between Jackman and Stewart that we really haven't seen since X2 and never in this way. It sets up the backbone for the whole picture, that is able to resonate with the viewers.

The biggest thing I didn't like, had nothing to do with the compaints that I hear on here. I'm no prude, I watch game of thrones and love it, but what I don't like is when a character that should be accessible to younger generations is catered to the 18+ crowd. Adding the F-bombs, and over the top gratuitous violence added nothing to what was already a beautiful screen play that had a human quality. That's why I didn't get that this film mirrors Shane so closely, one of my favorite movies that I saw when I was 7 years old.

That kind of stuff is fine for Deadpool, but I freakin' hate this edgier crap that Fox has been throwing into the X-men films, making sure they get at least one F-bomb in per film and this was a chance to have their orgasm of that kind of stuff.

Again, I have no other complaints of this film. It's by far the best Wolverine movie and it's probably the best X-men movie, but it's the least comic bookie of them. In fact I was a bit confused by the timeline, if this is supposed to be an alternate timeline to the other films, or a direct sequel. There's a line in there about the statue of liberty that suggests it is a direct sequel and we see Logan's Samurai sword, but other things that seem to contradict DOFP, and the other Wolverine films. So I took this film as an indirect sequel and only loose connections to the existing cannon, much like the "old man Logan" series was indirect to the rest of the marvel comics.

This is kind of a bitter sweet end. Jackman was the one guy to appear in every X-men film, be it cameo or major appearance. For someone that received so much criticism when he first took the role, he truly made it his own. They've recast just about every other X-men role save his, and if they try, those will be some big shoes to fill.

But what a way to go out.

10/10
