I thought this was an advice thread. Well, thats what I did, put forth situations and ask for advice. Sometimes, others that are not involved can see things and developments that I cannot because I am emotionally involved. Whats so difficult to understand about that?

Huh, I'd never heard of someone's viewpoint on kissing being quite that way. Intriguing...

From what I've heard, kissing is usually seen as more intimate than sex. My promiscuous friend loved having sex with men she just met, but she wouldn't kiss them.

I'd never go quite that far to feel attractive. All I have to do is wear shorts and then I get catcalls... Mission accomplished!

Kissing just involves lips and tongue. You do not have to be at all naked, and you are not involving genitals which are in general much more 'embarrasing' and intimate areas for most people than you're lips. It's something that can be done in public without anyone batting an eye or, you know, caling the police because your public intimacy is offensive...

Most people I know have played a game of spin the bottle for a laugh, or been dared to kiss someone. It's just not something that has to be taken all that seriously.

And yeah, sure, if you're skinny with a nice bum, it is a lot easier to get cat calls ... and if you get enough cat calls, you really don't need much in the way of confidence boosting anyway, cause you know you're attractive.

BTW, there's a difference between feeling sexy and feeling attractive. I feel sexy sometimes, but I don't as often feel actually attractive in a purely 'nice to look at' way. Feeling sexy is more about eye contact, movement, choice of words etc.

I'm not saying i'm 'ugly' either, as well all know how much I hate it when people do that

Because as Optimus said, we've explained it to you multiple times and you don't seem to have very good deductive reasoning. Especially for your age.

That's why we're all assuming you're so much younger than you say you are. You only see that kind of emotional outburst on such minor occurrences when you're in your teens. Presumably, 50-year-olds have a lot more life experience and know what's important and what's not.

I met a 47-year-old at the ice rink recently. In those years, she'd been an AIDS nurse (college-age at the time!), lost a few friends to cancer, had a divorce, lost a custody battle, had a stroke, and was learning to skate as part of her rehab even though she could barely walk. You think she'd freak out if some man didn't give her the time of day? No, she has more important things to do.

Yeah I burst out into giggles everytime I try to feel sexy. I feel like such a clown! The only time I probably come off as sexy without feeling like a clown is when I feel physically powerful. My inner dominatrix?

Yeah I'm not entirely sure why so many people considering kissing to be more intimate than sex. Maybe it's because sex is so natural that even animals do it, while humans are unusual to have so many nerve endings on the lips and use kissing to communicate affection. I mean, chimps kiss, but it's a fairly platonic kiss of reconciliation after a fight. Bonobos kiss for affection, but we all know bonobos are sex fiends.

-shrug- I have a cousin with Asperger's and who's socially inept to the max, Ivy-League educated, and he works on Wall St doing software and probably makes six figures. Nothing surprises me at this point.
