If Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell look related, then couldn't Scarlett Johansson and Hayley Atwell look related? Or really any of the other Marvel females? Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, etc.

I don't understand your reasoning... but if you see a resemblance between those actresses sure... I see none.

Look at Kat, for example:

She looks more like Hayley Atwell than Emily does, especially in the boob deparment.

Kat Dennings in my opinion doesn't share any common facial features with Hayley Atwell. They do both have dark brown hair and big boobs.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Of course it's not a fact. I'm the only one who knows what my family and I look like and in my opinion, we look less alike then they do.

It's possible you could be seeing it because that's what you want to see.

Actually it's not possible at all. My choices for Sharon Carter were Imogen Poots and Teresa Palmer, they don't really look like Hayley and I didn't care. But when Emily VanCamp was cast I instantly noticed a resemblance. There was no "want" involved with VanCamp because I didn't want her in the first place, not that I don't like the choice now. The people I actually wanted for Sharon look less like Hayley then the person who was chosen.

I disagree. I think it could be a subconscious thing. You still seem pleasantly surprised with the choice and your brain could just be doing the rest.

Also, in regards of your earlier post about "there's no thinking". I was meaning that I would like to hear you say what features they have that do show some resemblance. I've only heard her jawline from one other person who is sceptical about any resemblance (something I don't quite see myself either). To me her eyes, her cheeks, her nose and lips all seem quite different from Atwell.

You disagree? How can you disagree with my visual perception? I think I made it clear that my choice was this lovely lady:

Someone who actually looked like Hayley wasn't even on my radar. My perception that Emily resembles Hayley has nothing to do with what I wanted for the role.

Okay, if you want me to unnecessarily go in depth I will: Like I have already said they have similar jawlines and with that similar head shapes in general. They have the same eye color and their eyes are pretty much the same length apart. Their eyebrows both have a similar slant. Their hairlines are both pretty much the same length from their eyebrows. They have similar lips, especially when they smile widely. Their top lips are both pretty much the same distance from their nose. Their bottom lips are both pretty much the same distance from their chin.

Is that good enough for you?

Peggy is like 90 now and probably looks nothing how she did in her 20's .

You've already mentioned that you had someone else in mind. My suggestion doesn't rely on that.

And I'm not disagreeing with your visual perception. I'm suggesting that you're seeing what you want to see because even though you had someone else in mind you're still pleased with what you got and your subconscious did the rest.

Also, I wouldn't read too much into VanCamp being listed as a supporting actress in the film in the press release. Scarlet is a more well known name and that's likely why she's mentioned more prominently. At the moment VanCamp just doesn't have the same level of fame that Scarlet does. I'm fairly certain that Sharon is still one of the major characters in the film and will most definitely still be Steve's new love interest. As has already been mentioned, the reason for her only being listed as Agent 13 is likely because neither Steve, nor most of the audience will know who she is and Marvel wants it to be a surprise when her relation to Peggy is revealed.

I don't really care at the moment. She looks very pretty, that's definitely a good thing, but I don't know her stuff. I have no misgivings about her casting really though and I'm still looking forward to the film.

The thing is, I don't "believe" it, I KNOW it. This is my eyes and my brain we're talking about here. There's nothing wrong with you questioning it or suggesting otherwise. SHIELD jumpsuits in The Avengers looked great to me. The only thing missing was gloves. White, black whatever, but the uniform didn't look complete without gloves.

I'm not sure we'll ever see quite the classic image of Sharon, because she's likely to have her hair up (like Cobie Smulders) rather than down like in the comics. At least while on duty. When do you ever see women in uniform ever wearing their hair down?

2) I'm actually fine with Emily VanCamp being Sharon. We could have gotten worse casting...(Imogen Poots? That Downton Abbey girl? WTF). After watching GoT I think Natalie Dormer would have been a great Sharon though.

4) I think they should keep Sharon in the SHIELD outfits. None of that white catsuit shoulder-window crap.

5) Regards to hair, I think all the women (should and do) have it up or kept short. The only reason Natasha didn't in IM2 was because...well, she's Natasha.

6) MARVEL is obviously putting down Emily's role as 'Agent 13', so we all get surprised when it is revealed at the end of the movie she is Peggy's granddaughter..../eyeroll

How would that have ever happened though, since Maria Hill is a high ranking SHIELD agent (who has already appeared in the Avengers) and Wasp hasn't even been introduced? You could at most only get Jan in addition to Maria, but not instead of her.
