Is that really his scan? It kinda looks like Hardy but I couldn't find info if that's his face in the game or not. But model's jacket has the same stitching along the seams around shoulder as Tom's.

Might not be his face in-game even though Avalanche looked of designed it to be close to Hardy's likeness :funny: but for the CG video it sure does look like his head scan. I could be wrong but if you want to see the video for yourself and how Digital Domain made it just Google "Mad Max Ethos Trailer".

Also for the first time since filming began last year, George Miller speaks! Puts to rest the "Mel Cameo" rumour and confirms again a lot of what "insider" folks first said a couple of months a go that they weren't doing reshoots but filming the action packed bookends to the movie:

Mad Max Fury Road: Big muddy smash caps epic shoot

November 30, 2013

Away from prying eyes in western Sydney, director George Miller filmed the final climactic truck crash for Mad Max: Fury Road this week.

With a cast headed by Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron descending on Penrith Lakes, rain interrupted shooting on the big-budget action movie that features a new generation of futuristic vehicles racing through a desert wasteland.

''Smashing up a couple of big trucks, it had to be very, very, very precise,'' said Miller in his first interview about the long-awaited return of Mad Max to the screen. ''So we just had to wait for a clear day.''

The location, chosen because ''it's isolated and you can drive big vehicles very fast and crash them'', proved muddy but perfectly suitable for the action-packed finale once the weather cleared and a hovering media helicopter disappeared.

Miller, the Oscar-winning director of three Mad Max and two Happy Feet movies, said filming would wrap at Fox Studios in the next fortnight after a ''crazy'' amount of time working on Fury Road.

After first stalling because of the financial impact of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the movie was delayed twice when rain caused the desert to blossom at Broken Hill. It was finally shot in Namibia and South Africa last year.

''It's been a really difficult movie,'' Miller said. ''It's pretty constant action [on screen] but we've had superb stunts and safety crew.

''We've had no significant injuries - one of our top guys was doing a simple manoeuvre and just pulled a tendon in his biceps; that's one of the worst injuries we've had.''

The Warner Bros movie reputedly centres on Max (played by Hardy) getting caught up with a group fleeing across the wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa (Theron).

''It's a pretty epic chase across the wasteland,'' Miller said.

Denying reports that he has been re-shooting scenes after Fury Road fared badly with test audiences, Miller said it was always intended to film the start and finish of the movie in Australia. ''There are no re-shoots at all,'' he said. Other than some brief augmenting shots, filming has been confined to scenes that bookend the movie.

''Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well,'' Miller said. ''We're very happy. There has been a lot of doubt about it - [people saying] 'it took so long' - but Warners have delayed it until 2015 to go into the top weekend of the year.''

Rather than compete with the FIFA World Cup next year, the studio has claimed a prime American summer slot in May 2015 that became vacant when J.J. Abram's new Star Wars movie was postponed.

Miller denied reports that Mel Gibson, who played Max in the first three Mad Max movies, has a cameo role.

''It would have been nice somehow but, no, it's not true,'' he said.

Will we see Max's famous Interceptor this time?

''Without giving too much away, there is one that appears.''

Totally forgot about the World Cup next year so yeah, the release makes more sense now.

OH YEAH, the World Cup next year starts on June 12th

Small update: Charlize Theron wrapped up 2 days ago.

Looks like two units were filming with one unit at, and still is, Stage 2 at the Fox Studios and the other main unit at Potts Hill filming the finale involving the Gigahorse vehicle and a elevator/platform with the main cast and Five Wives. Looks like the shoot will continue for a couple more weeks of stage work and the "backstory" scenes that Miller wasn't able to film in Cape Town due to time constraints and budget are actually being filmed.

So did they basically reshoot the entire movie? Like could we basically have two entirely cuts of the same film/

There are conflicting reports about that, but it all has to do with the third act. However, what is consistent is that the word of mouth is strong with this one.

Octoberist, not really, my point was that Variety put out that weird fluff piece on Oldboy though the movie came out and bombed hard. Like Variety was almost paid to put out an article to give the movie some positive buzz.

Hard to believe everything is coming up roses with Mad Max 4

Okay, I guess I didn't get where you were going with the Variety article.

No because they're not reshooting anything but filming the bookends and footage for the film that were originally supposed to be shot in Cape Town including 10 sets that were built for Immortan Joe's lair.

All the talk about "reshoots due to poor test screenings" is pure ********. Like Simo said, the filming is new additional scenes that were originally planned to be done in Africa.

It seems a lot more likely that WB execs did go to Sydney to watch the rough cut and then they gave Miller more time and money to shoot what he originally wanted to do.

This is going to become the Duke Nukem of films the way it is going. Feels like this has been going on forever.

There’s not going to be that much CGI. Its going to be what you see is what is happening. It’s a long shoot, its going to be a very human story. It will have wonderful landscapes and a very interactive, physical action, too. It’s a complete revisit. So come to it with a fresh pair of eyes. This is Mad Max revisited.

Quoth Hardy.

And if not everyone’s cup of tea, I entirely take the blame for that and not George Miller. It would be a fault of my own and not anything George does, or any of the cast. It’s a big, old number and I want to bring it in. If you don’t like, I promise to go back to the UK and apologize profusely! I feel very strong.

The Hardy Hath Spoken Again

I'm really glad to get some more info on this, now I really can't wait.

I'm really curious to see how general audiences are going to take to this, and especially to Tom as Max.

I feel like it could either set him as an action hero star, or flop.

it's really hard to say. Mad Max to me has gotten buried in the public's consciousness. I even venture to say that in geekdom most would know about Max but many of the younger ones have probavly never seen it. I for one didnt see Mad Max until more recently. And that was out of being proactive and curious.

I have my theories. One being the fall of Mel Gibson. That was all on him. I'm very forgiving but boy he was acting like a damn fool a few years ago. He was a shell of his former self, and it's sad.
