Looking forward to seeing this! The hype has me excited I just hope this isn't a case like The Kingsman. People hyped that movie up so much for what it seems to be just one cool scene and rest of the movie was just okay to me.

I call ******** on people only loving Kingsman because of one scene. Also Kingsman's reviews were nowhere near as good as Mad Max's.

Anyway Mad Max's reviews are unbelievably stellar. Last time a WB film garnered reviews like this was Gravity and that film turned into the surprise smash of October.

I know people are going to compare this to Edge of Tomorrow but unlike that film this one has great trailers.

I loved the Edge of Tomorrow trailers, and I loved the movie even more. The truth is the fear is the release date, and that is where the comparisons really come from. If these reviews keep rolling in with the footage, you have to think it is going to help, a lot. What I am most curious about is how Max will sell around the world. Does it have an appeal in Asia, Europe, South America? Because honestly, Pitch Perfect is probably going to crush it this weekend. Though maybe we could have a weekend like the one in 2013, with MoS, MU and WWZ.

As to Kingsman, as probably its biggest fan here, I completely agree with you. The movie won people over, not one scene.

Yeah the Edge of Tomorrow trailers were fantastic. Dat Glitch Mob.

Edge of Tomorrow's trailers were not good guys, that's why it's opening and total were so crappy. I think you fine gentlemans excitement over the project has blinded you to the actual quality of the trailers.

It was the trailers that got me hyped for the movie. It was barely on my radar until the trailers.

That is a great trailer.

Edge of Tomorrow was pretty good. Not really hit material if you ask me, even with good marketing behind it.

Did you travel into another dimension in which Edge of Tomorrow was a hit baby?
That would be a good dimension darling. You, Hunter and I could be neighbors there. That way you could just slap us in person. :funny:

Hopefully Mad Max does the business at the box office in this dimension. Same with Man from U.N.C.L.E. Two films that look terrific, though run the risk of tanking without the now almost required pre-release installed fanbase.

I would risk and say that i think Mad Max may have more appeal worldwide than Pitch Perfect, it seems to be getting a lot of attention due to being so different from the norm. Mad Max is also apparently using few dialogue scenes, trying to be more of a visual tale, while Pitch Perfect is a comedy, which doesn't usualy translate equaly well in every single country.

Did not notice these being posted yet. Sorry if this is a repeat.

70 reviews in, 99% and a 9.1 average. Holy moly.

Except Kingsman didn't get nearly this amount of love for critics...in fact, I dont think ANYTHING has in quite a long time. In today's very cynical and overly self important critical landscape, the fact that plenty of reputable and wannabe-reputable people are throwing out the M word (therefore actually putting themselves out there and risking their rep) means that people are very very confident it will be remembered as such and people aren't just getting swept up in the experience.

Point being, so far we've heard that it's special, nothing less.

Yeah nothing in the EOT trailers suggested what we were getting was going to be any different than the usual samey sci fi fare, add the poor showing of Oblivion and you likely have reason why it bombed. I'd like to think that word of mouth is so so strong with this film that it ends up prevailing and having legs enough to be a strong domestic run. WB has been here before pumping money and effort into something that didn't quite set the world on fire (Batman Begins) but realising that critical acclaim and word of mouth would benefit them in the long run once the sequel would come out. I realise that this example is set in a much different landscape than it is today, and there are so many factors that could easily punch a hole through my reasoning but it's frankly the best example I have of WB being a little bit smarter in the long run.

Plus I'm not one to really care about BO intake unless there are necessary sequels to be made (aka Dredd) and I wouldn't mind if this was more a fitting end to a beloved franchise that I've always felt had a better reputation than it's films deserved objectively speaking (although I personally love all 3 of these movies) but it's just all about validation, seeing Miller and Hardy and Theron and everyone who had such a crazy and hard shoot getting their just deserts...who doesn't like seeing good work getting rewarded? I certainly don't care that Avengers made a couple of million less or it reached a billion slower than the first film, it makes me laugh at those who are really bummed at that.

Chris Stuckmann said this film is more along the lines of Diehard and the original Matrix as decade defining action film. Reviewers are saying this is a action masterpiece, and not just a simply enjoyable flick like Edge of Tomorrow or Kingsmen, the early word of mouth is universal acclaim thus far.

How many more till it becomes certified fresh?

"Rotten Tomatoes awards the Certified Fresh accolade to theatrical releases reviewed by 40 or more critics (including 5 Top Critics) with a steady score of 75% or higher on the Tomatometer. A film remains Certified Fresh unless its Tomatometer falls below 70%."

I've an acquaintance who's seen it early and he say's it's the best movie in the franchise.
