Not even remotely the same. She didn't get knocked in the back by some blind guy, then fell to her death screaming. She died because a Soldier sacrificed himself to take her with him.
Some blind guy? Han Solo could beat anyone blind. Well, anyone other then Darth Vader.

I think I'm the only one who's starting to miss Tobias.

He's probably writing another letter to WB.

I miss his excuses to show how MOS is a "failure". What happened to him?

That user is ...special.
He tries so hard to state his opinion....over and over in very redundant posts.
STARMAN misses him ?
You are dead to me :o

Where did he go?

I agreed with his sense of caution early on, but he became more and more... well trollish after the film came out. Almost upset with the good business the film is doing and trying to cast it in a negative light.

:funny:

It's fine to have caution. Hell, when he posted here after the film came out I respected him. But it was almost like he was trying to force his opinion down people's throats. He was so pessimistic and gloomy. He kept saying the next film would be a failure if they used the same team.
I get that people night not like what Snyder and Goyer did but I think Goyer has signed a three picture deal and unless Nolan doesn't want Snyder back and advises WB, then Snyder is returning as well.

^I'm in the same boat as you. But where do you draw the line of enough money and not too much. Seems a bit silly that WB would have such a threshold.
I honestly don't know. I just want something to get their attention. Anything that might make them believe MoS was well written is a bad thing for me. Maybe that RT score will be enough.

My answer to all these questions is yes.

What exactly were your problems with the film?
Script, script, and script. I love the casting all around (with the exception of Costner...I hate his wooden acting). I would love Cavill to be Supes for the next 20 years in particular.

I hate that Supes did not get to be a superior intellect. His solution in MoS was mostly, "hit/try hard...if that doesn't work, hit/try harder". The relationship with Lois didn't work for me at all. His "I want to hurt them" when he was young somehow turned into "I can't bear to hurt them" when he was an adult. The Pa Kent death was absurd in my book. The general seemingly endless "action" at the end was mind-numbing to me. I can barely muster the energy to even think about it more to be honest. The thought of trying to watch it again makes my head tired.

As much as I was "meh" about it (5/10) my girlfriend outright hated it (yes...she is a comic nerd too). It actually made her angry.

I feel exactly the same. I was actually a bit glad it crashed second weekend; hopefully it gave WB pause to trust the same team again and if not get rid of them at least get someone more competent to help in a big way. As for the 3rd weekend drop 50% drop only looks good compared to the previous65% drop. Looked at by itself it is not a good hold at all. If Mos was really good and had excellent WOM I think it would have easily reached 400 million domestic rather than crawling to 300. I hope WB sees that and makes the necessary changes for MOS 2 to be much much better.
Agreed. Superman is too big a character to settle for 300 million.

Me too. :yay: I think the script was fine, my only problem was the editing.
So Superman fans really want WB to be happy with this, eh? Interesting. I feel this approach will doom JL, MoS2, and Flash to a lower tier than Marvel's Avengers franchise. Do we really want mixed reviews to be the norm? I checked out the thread for MoS at RT and the non-comic fans there were basically also "meh" about it. I don't think that's good enough: http://vine.rottentomatoes.com/vine/showthread.php?t=2288671&page=43

*sigh* :csad:

In what world is $300m domestically for a reboot not big money?

So crossing $500M worldwide...Are we successful with the launch?

I was hoping for $700M+ I know certain markets are yet to open

None. It's only said by people who don't like the movie and not looking at the numbers with perspective. It's absolutely ridiculous to think that a movie in MOS position (non-sequel origin reboot) grossing $300M Dom and close to $700M WW is considered anything but a success.

I read on another forum that MOS Monday box office was 3.04. Don't know if this is accurate.

I think the issue is that Superman is held to such ridiculously high standards, him being the grand daddy of them all and everyone wants that reflected on screen and aren't happy with all the caveats.

Good. I like those two. Its a good story. They got the whole cast involved in the film. The film looks stunning. Impefect but great.

With all the development hell, and the abomination in 2006, I'd say the team did a good job.

Just bare with us and hope the sequel is more intimate and character driven while still have the spectacle of a superhero film.
I feel there was so much action and sci-fi thrown into the film to gather people's interest in Superman again, and also making it fresh for the general public. I understand some people weren't happy or that impressed with what we got but I have a feeling the sequel will feel more like a traditional superman story in tone.
Snyder has gotten the world's attention. It's up to him to improve with Goyer and give us another good but improved film.

Was it this bad when Begins didn't do insane money? In fact, even though it was a great film, it did very modest business. Sequels were in doubt.

People do realize that Superman is a science-fantasy character right? Of course his films are going to have sci-fi in them. His origin is built on a completely science fiction premise. The dude is from an advance civilization.

I agree.

I might be alone in this, but I personally feel that out of the three Batman films and MOS, the movie with the weakest story and worst dialogue is TDK (which Goyer had the least involvement in). Don't get me wrong, I love that movie, but so much of the Joker's plan hinges on people being idiots. And WOW does Batman have some terrible lines.

Anyway, I want the same team back for the MOS sequel; if they make something as good as MOS, I'll be ecstatic. If they manage to make it better, I'll be over the freakin' moon.
