After the 2nd weekend there was no point in comparing IM and MoS legs anymore. It was obvious the former was catching up and would overtake it eventually.

The first Iron Man had amazing legs i'm not sure even after the 1st weekend it would have been wise to predict MoS having similar legs?

So basically we're going to look at a real slow crawl to $300m. I'm sure WB will try to keep it in theaters for as long as possible to make sure they get it. We might we waiting until September, which I'm fine with. It would be really nice to get $300 at least.

I'm thinking 3rd week of August it crosses $300 million. By July 29th it's gonna probably be $291-293 million and then 2-3 weeks later it'll be flirting with or have crossed $300 million. No hard data to back that up on my part, it's purely a guess.

I guess if it doesn't get to 300...we have to see how the DVD sales go and how people would be looking forward to the sequel maybe? ala BB

No, the reception of the movie is what it is now. Getting to that figure just looks good.

Not that I doubt it will get a sequel but DVD/Blu-ray sales mean much less now comapred to how much they did in the mid-2000's.

Very few films really get sequels based on home video anymore, people just don't buy them like they did 5-10 years ago.

It's getting a sequel... MOS is the DCU... It is well received by fans and GA... MOS did what it needed to do and now set it self nicely for an epic sequel and introductions of other DC character. Read this

MOS isnt quite the DCU yet.
They have not developed an Expanded Universe at this point .

Blu-Ray / Rentals / Digital Downloads still means BIG business for studios... in fact, it's rose the first quarter of this year.. the industry is still close to 20 Billion dollars / year, which is almost twice that of the 'Annual Box Office'...

So, yes, it's still a huge amount of profit to be made with blu-ray, etc...

With MOS already probably breaking even on the Box-Office alone, the blu-ray sales, licensing, etc, are all net profits... MOS is no doubt a big money earner this year for WB...

what are u talking about mos is the start of dcu
so it it tge dcu any dc movie that comes out for now on will have a reference to mos and its events of destruction and im glad that dc is taking the mostly action road

There will be a sequel.

Movies that make 3 times their budget almost always get a sequel unless it's a stand alone film.

Plus MOS is the third biggest movie this year worldwide so far. It will probably end up in the top 5 or 6 for the year.

Agreed. WB would be stupid not to do their other DC movie in the same MOS universe. Even WB has mention that MOS is the first Super Hero (Similar to the new 52 comic launch) to announce himself to the world. From here on out all other DC hero will also come out from MOS's universe/timeline thus forming the DCU that will one day establish the JL and World Finest movie we are all patiently waiting to see. WF alone will be the biggest CBM ever... Might even be an event for most fans...

3rd? I thought it was number 2

It's number 2 in the U.S.

Fast & Furious 7 has still made more money worldwide. MOS will probably pass it up though.

its getting a sequel if amazing spiderman can gross 262mill domestic and get one!

if fast 6 can make 460,000,000 foreign.
im very confident that mos can make 200,000,0000-270,000,000 more foreign if anyone disagree they are really superman haters my prediction of a billion is not a pipedream at all but if it falls short over
800,000,000 will be the floor no doubt about that

When you factor in Brazil and Japan, sure, it's possible...700-750ww.

Why is the sequel still in doubt?

I guess people maybe expected one after Superman Returns, actually I believe one was announced, but it never happened.

DC/WB would be forever killing their comic book properties if they didn't do a sequel to MOS. That would be a terrible show of confidence in their properties.
