July 17th, 2015th appears open. The Smurfs are listed for July 24th, 2015

So either date is good then lol.Seriously though, aren't both dates after all of the other big releases have been out for a while? I wouldn't be surprised if WB has one of them staked out.

My prediction was for 250 - 300 million. Though I said 300 million was a best case scenario - words to that affect. Lower than most here predicted. I was mocked for that prediction but it looks like I will be closer to right than most predicted here when the final numbers are in.

This is what you said back on May 21:

Make it 100 million and if that is the OW number it will need a very strong multiplier to get to 300 million. Not impossible but not easy either.

So the reality is tracking is showing 95 - 108 and the numbers posted above by a regular here are real outliers. He should be posting the other numbers you mention too.

If tracking is showing 95 - 108 the week before release WB will what? Predict 95 - 100? Paramount under-predicted the 110 tracking was showing for SID.

You seem to have a real handle on this. Makes a lot of sense to me.

May I ask your prediction? OW, domestic and OS (OS being more a ballpark I know). Don't worry - won't hold you to it - LOL.

My prediction is 90OW, 250 domestic and 300OS.

He says his projection was between 250 to 300 to save face. He seemed pretty confident that it would only do 250 domestic and 300 OS, but of course he will say something to make it seem like his projections were closer than they actually are.

He's a troll. Of course he lies. That's the whole point. He's not attempting to engage in meaningful discussion.

His predctions have been off and I'm willing to bet that they will continue to be. MOS has been playing for 30 days now and it's made 277,490,000.

Inception made 245,109,347 after 30 days and continued to play for another 5 months grossing 292,576,195. So it made over 47 million in 5 months and MOS will play until December.

Even if MOS only makes half what Inception did that's 23.5 million more. 300,000,000 is a lock and I'm willing to bet money on it.

Didn't someone post some of his previous posts that showed that he wanted Superman to fail, so that WB would move on to doing other DC Characters and that he thought that they could do a Justice League movie without Superman????

I could have sworn that right before MOS was going to debut he said that he was going to stay away from the boards and checking the BO until August because of his stress and fear of another Superman movie possibly failing?

This is just hilarious... lol.

The problem with comparing movies like that is you assume they have similar type of legs which they obviously don't. Now I'm not saying it will or will not hit $300M, it still has a shot.

In a nut shell, pretty much 'yes' on all of the counts you have listed.

Greeneyes has his number.

I've seen it only twice but my rating dropped on the second viewing. The film does not hold up on repeat viewing - unlike say BB.

The great thing about MOS is the first time you watch it you are in awe of the action and only appreciating that. The 2nd time you watch it you realize, 'hey this story is fascinating' and the 3rd time you watch it you are anticipating the iconic moments (and this film has more iconic superhero moments than any film ever made). And I'm not the only person who's said this (regarding the action standing out at first, and then the other aspects being more fun in repeat viewings). When I saw BB I saw everything it had the first time, and never really found anything new about the 2nd viewing.

The first time saw MOS I wanted to give it a 10 but decided to give it a 9 because its nice to have somewhere higher to go when you see the sequels. The 2nd time I saw MOS I gave it a 10 because I realized that if the sequels are the exact same quality as MOS then its perfection. So MOS = 10/10. MOS2 better have the same amount of action as MOS (or more). Lex has a way of slowing things down unfortunately. But I trust Snyder will lift Lex to a more frenetic pace.

Funny how a few months ago when I saw footage of Pacific Rim it made me want to check its release date to make sure it wasn't the same week as Man Of Steel. Turns out, Pacific Rim is a non-factor. But for all you Rotten Tomatoes fans.....Pacific Rim has 72% :D

That score makes sense to me....cause its a better movie

But someone from WB said they might try to release MOS2 in 2014. So I think 2016 is unlikely if the trend of thinking is so immediate.

It's commonly accepted that that was just a made up date. It's not possible to start a film that big and get it out in less than a year. Plus the actors schedules won't allow it.

It'll be 2016.

I don't understand the Box Office anymore. I just went to see the Lone Ranger and it was packed and me and everyone else seemed to love it yet its bombing and making no money? I think I don't care about box office unless I have some stake in the company lol Man of Steel had the DC Universe riding on it and it succeeded. Movies that bomb and don't do well like John Carter and Lone Ranger, I enjoyed them and while I would like a sequel, I can live without it lol most of the time Sequels just ruin the charm of the first movie. Unless the first one was just ok or if your film has Fast or Furious in the title. Then that becomes Box Office Gold lol :P

The lone Ranger was packed becasue they only have a hand full of theater dedicated to it showing. So Most of the people get herded into thoughs few showing.

I enjoyed PR way more than MoS. The fact PR is flopping so hard is a shame.
I hope this movies cleans up overseas because it deserves money but if it doesn't, 'meh' I don't need a sequel.

so funny how aside from mos and im3 alot of these summer film are underperforming

after earth,lone ranger,pacific rim,STID

It's flopping because GA rather get a good laugh than watch a mindless robot fighting monster. PR had terrible plot and character development. People that enjoy PR like it for what it is, monster fighting monster, CGI, and nothing more. The WOM is very mix from the GA so I don't know how it will do in its second week either... MOS is way better than PR. PR is a b movie that I rank 3rd: MOS>STID>PR>IM3. It should do better OS if it doesn't it will surprise me.
