MoS is gonna have a tough time crawling to $295M if its lucky let alone $300M.

This^!

Except the last part, I think of all the Spider-Man films this one has the potential to beat SM2. If not, the following 2 movies if they ever get the balls to incorporate the Sinister 6.

I hope so man. But TASM didn't leave me impressed. Don't get me wrong, it was a decently good film. It just didn't break any new strides with the character
I also would have liked if they'd pulled the mos flashback route with TASM. The public didnt need a new retread of his origin. We could have seen 6-7 significant flashbacks to his past, and that would have sufficed.

Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-man film we've received.
I don't think Marc Webb is going to give us a better one.

Yeah, I agree. I think ASM2 will be good, but I have a hard time seeing it being better than SM2. Although Emma Stone is MUCH better love interest than Kirsten Dunst.

Yes Avatar 1 did and so will Avatar 2. I rather have MOS2 with Batman be the underdog so when it does surpass Avenger it would be that much sweeter... Also Avenger is a team up movie so of course no solo movie can out gross it... But if Batman can pull 1 billion and MOS origin can pull 650-700 million WW don't be surprise it gross 1.5-2 billion WW.
I tried to tell them the same thing batman alone will put a billion into mos2/wf it will take tge place of the justice league in ever fan boys eyes
and im hearing a lot of people rather a superman/batman flim before a JL dont know why but they do

This taken from The Guardian reporting from Comic-Con:

Make no mistake: Warner Bros has pulled off a huge coup with its announcement at this weekend's Comic-Con that the next Man of Steel movie will feature Superman battling Batman. Even with rival studio Marvel using San Diego's annual fanboy Mecca to reveal the title (and antagonist) of the next Avengers film, it is the news that Kal-El and the caped crusader will be squaring off that has caught the imagination of public and media alike. That's some feat when you consider that Marvel's comic book ensemble was by far the biggest film of 2012 at the global box office, while Man of Steel hasn't yet passed the haul taken by the fourth Spider-Man movie and got a lukewarm thumbs up from critics

The way this franchise is headed, they needed the origin told. This franchise will be explaining Peter's past which is untouched territory. Now that the origin and the "becoming Spider-Man" story has been told, the "being Spider-Man" story can unfold.

I have all the faith in the world with Webb on this one. The descriptions of footage and the reactions seem promising. Plus the potential of a Sinister 6 is there. The Avengers brought superheroes together, but who's brought super villains together?

Yeah, I think WB/DC finally "won" Comic Con, so to speak.

Of course, some will argue that that Marvel "won" 2013 (like they usually do) because they somehow managed to keep the Ultron thing a secret from EVERYONE until they unveiled the title of the new Avengers movie. And well, kudos to them for that. And perhaps, when it comes to the hardcore fans, they "won" in that respect.

But when it comes to ordinary people, the conversation is more like this:

Joe: Hey man, did you know that Comic Con thing is going on right now?

Bob: Oh, really? Cool.

Joe: Yeah, they announced some cool stuff. Apparently Avengers 2 is going to have Ultron in it.

Bob: What... is Ultron?

Joe: No idea. But you know what else? There's a Batman and Superman movie coming out.

Bob: No sh**, REALLY?

Joe: Yeah, in 2015!

Bob: F**kin A!

I think people stopped caring after the WF announcement. :funny:

Yeah, seriously. I probably won't hit $300M, but it's not like that last $10 million (or whatever it will be) would have made THAT much of a difference.

The funny thing is I have never met a single person called Bob. :funny:

It's a new Batman no one is familiar with though. That has to count for something. I know he's an iconic figure but seeing a new Batman out there so soon after the last movie is going to confuse a lot of people.

I guess we won't know the extent of MOS's power until the home video sales are in. That will give us all a better idea where the film stood with audiences. If it manages to do well, I guess a billion is certainly possible. We'll have to wait and see.
if the new batman confuse anybody in the audience that's proof that most people really dont know what thier are looking at these movies are made for those who know whats is going on and are comic book fans
I really believe in my heart that the recent batman movies will give this batman an advantage rather than hurt the next batman everyone pretty much got the bad batman movies out of thier heads now
and bales lagecy have made batman a factor to all including marvel

You're underestimating Marvel's panel by a long shot. "What... is Ultron?" wasn't the reaction they got when Joss announced it. TA2 is going to be massive.

I don't consider WB's announcement to have "won comic con" by any means. First thing I thought of was how ugly the logo looked and how MOS was getting screwed over by that being it's sequel. Spotlights don't share well.

Emma Stone can do no wrong. You know she's my future wife ? She just doesn't know it yet. :woot:

Agreed. I'm sure people who don't know Ultron googled Ultron afterwards. It is a big deal who the next Avengers villain is going to be.

Ulton as the second villain and most likely Thanos to close out phase 3 is ridiculous. They'll have a bigger Avengers lineup by then, the party just keeps getting bigger and bigger. If Spidey ever joins, game over. Marvel wins everything.

Pretty much all of this.

I've heard of Ultron but I don't really know who he is or why he's so important.

but I definitely know who Superman and Batman are!!! :woot:

And you actually believe that anyone other than fanboys who rant on message boards (not singling you out with that comment, I'm in that group too) gives a crap about either of those things?

all this is great, but how do you feel a bout marvel short changing it's characters with all this universe building? Seems to be a pressing concern over here in the DC section.

I don't believe they are.

Yeah, I mean, I'm a comic book guy and I've never read a single story with Ultron in it. I know very little about the character.

But I don't mean to downplay Avengers 2. It will be HUGE, but it was always going to be huge. It doesn't matter who the villain is, or how many people have heard of him. And yeah, it will probably be bigger than Superman/Batman.

My point was that the Superman/Batman news was a bigger bombshell with the general public than the title and villain of the next Avengers movie. Superman is trending right now on Google. Ultron isn't.
