And you actually believe that anyone other than fanboys who rant on message boards (not singling you out with that comment, I'm in that group too) gives a crap about either of those things?

Well.....a lot of the GA do not pay attention to comic con.

Yeah, I mean, I'm a comic book guy and I've never read a single story with Ultron in it. I know very little about the character.

But I don't mean to downplay Avengers 2. It will be HUGE, but it was always going to be huge. It doesn't matter who the villain is, or how many people have heard of him. And yeah, it will probably be bigger than Superman/Batman.

My point was that the Superman/Batman news was a bigger bombshell with the general public than the title and villain of the next Avengers movie. Superman is trending right now on Google. Ultron isn't.

All of this.

Heavily.

The Bat logo already suggest it won't be Nolan's Batman, recasting Batman is not going to be as easy as people think. Especially with Bale stuck in everyone's vision as "Batman". Secondly, the MOS fanboys aren't going to be pleased about sharing a movie with Batman while they're trying to establish their own franchise as Batman's already had a very successful not to mention recent one. There's also a hidden redemption agenda in there somewhere for the MOS fans, deep down inside they all know MOS wasn't exactly what they wanted it to be, admittedly or not. MOS 2 was their chance to reconcile that. With Batman on the team now, it tampers with that. If and only if the sequel turns out to be great, which I'm hoping for, the "It was only good cause Batman was in it, Batman saved MOS' franchise" argument arises. We all know how fun those become. MOS will never get it's full glory now that the subs are in. IMO Batman is a crutch for this sequel. WB needed to show some faith in MOS and they didn't as far as I'm concerned.

Ulton as the second villain and most likely Thanos to close out phase 3 is ridiculous. They'll have a bigger Avengers lineup by then, the party just keeps getting bigger and bigger. If Spidey ever joins, game over. Marvel wins everything.

This is very dismissive...and a bit disrespectful. You're seriously underestimating the momentum this is going to generate for the DC UNIVERSE.

The bold is complete bull-****!

Again, you're only talking about the fanboys. I'm talking about people who go to see these movies and enjoy them, but don't follow the production, don't buy the merchandise (aside from the Blu-Ray when it comes out), etc. I really don't think this announcement is such a major shake-up for them.

Now for myself, admittedly, it IS a little disappointing that we're not getting a full-on MOS sequel. However, there's also a part of me that's wanted to see Batman and Superman on the big screen together for years, so I'm also excited for this.

As for the logo stuff... I wouldn't worry about that at all. If you remember, the marketing logo for both the Nolan and Burton Batman films wasn't the logo that the titular character wore on his chest.

I'm sure that is the case for some people. SOME people, not all. That comes off as a very generalizing comment. Some people got exactly what they wanted.
Anyway while I agree that recasting batman for this new universe is going to be challenging, it doesn't change the fact that the announcement of a Superman/Batman film was bigger news than TA2:ULTRON
All I can say is on my Facebook ? I saw multiple posts about Batman and Sup. I saw one post on the Avengers title, and she's admittedly a massive Marvel fan.

well, no matter what, 2015 is shaping up to be a HUGE year for movies!!

Avenger 2
Star Wars
Bond
And now Superman/Batman

although, over in the Star Wars thread, there's a rumor going around that JJ Abrams may drop out of the project.......

Do you realize how pathetic it is we are arguing who "won" comic con ?
I'm out.

WHOA really? Damn... that's not a good sign...

Marvel builds up their movies more, pun very much intended. That's the key to this MOS sequel's movie. They just don't have the proper build up for it yet to be on the scale of the Avengers. They're going to have a new Batman and a questionable Superman as far as the critics were concerned with his origin. What kind of foundation is that? Had Bale been in the mix and Cavil got another film under his belt, then yes, it'd be solid. Just seems forced and very early.

Please be a fake rumor!

THE AVENGERS DID IT FOR YOU GUYS...WHY CAN'T THIS DO IT FOR DC?

Because Goyer/Snyder<<<<<Whedon.

If rumors about Goyer working on the Mos2 script since February are true, I wonder if that script included Batman, and if it didn't he now has to shoehorn him in. Which really doesn't bode we'll if that's the case

Thank you! All of this.

Yes. I remember Iron Man and its direct sequel Iron Man 2/Avengers!

As for the JJ rumor, I hope it's true. Because with JJ I know exactly what I am getting from an aesthetic and directing standpoint. With someone else, I might get an interesting take on Star Wars. Perhaps David Fincher can get a crack at it now that he is probably not doing 20,000 Leagues.

JC for SW7. That's billboard worthy.

I'm indifferent towards JJ so I don't particularly care if he stays on as director or not

I said the SW thing was a rumor.

and I hope it's just that, too.

In my opinion Avengers sucked lots of diseased buffalo ****.

Goyer and Snyder are potentially more than a match for Whedon.

Goyer/Snyder>Whedon

WF will raise the bar...you'll see.
