Man of Steel Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 5

I've seen it six times. All but my first showing (the Wal Mart early premiere) have all been IMAX 3D/2D. Just wait till you see it in IMAX, it'll look and sound like a different movie. It's much more clear than standard Digital screens, IMO.

You're probably watching it on the new Barco 4K projectors (they use 2 of them so that the picture is brighter)

Tomorrow, like any movie sneaks Thursday night. But everyone is saying $70-80 million for the weekend so just go with that.
i c. i c. then it's impossible for MOS to beat it.

LOL, yes its impossible for MoS to beat it.

I think anything 300+ is a win for MOS. WB is very happy with it and we know that the reviews didnt have an effect on the movie. Despite RT and its flawed system, MOS has gotten very good WOM and reviews. I feel OS it will be huge. It has either broken WB records or BO office records OS so far. there will be a MOS 2 sequel and I would rather see that then JLA right now. I feel 325d/500OS for 825mWW

Wait a minute?? Didn't you say you were out of here with your doom and gloom predictions until August because of health issues, or was that someone else? If it was you, I'm beginning to think you are bordering on trollish behaviour. So according to you, MOS makes a little less Wednesday, and you have the B.O. in freefall! How about Monday and Tuesday that were pretty good holds perhaps even better than average? that means nothing? Btw your predictions kept changing like the weather, so anything you think you predicted in the past is sketchy at best with how many times you kept revising them.:whatever: MOS will likely make $325-350 million possibly more imo.

Exactly!

He is now saying that he doesn't want other characters in a MOS2 movie so that Superman gets more screen time??

This after he said repeatedly that Supes has been on screen enough and that he doesn't want him in a JL movie at all.

Tobias thinks people have forgotten all his hater posts!

He is too obvious now,I think he's taking the piss out of everyone and the site to be honest.

Tobias is coming up with every excuse for this movie to fail. He says that even if it were to make $500 million, that would still be a failure. LOL.

I see the movie doing 45-48mil this weekend. I'm not projecting a domestic total until July 4th numbers come in.

$500M worldwide? Actually if it were only 500M ww, then sure, WB would have lost money on this movie... they don't get 50% on Overseas... maybe they'll average about 30% of the box office... but domestic about 50%.

But there is NO WAY IN HELL that this movie just makes 500M... 700M is a lock already... How much more than that is to be seen.

MOS made $5.86 million on its opening day in China. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/man-steel-takes-flight-china-573299

Comparatively, Iron Man 3 made $21.5 million.

IM 3 was partly financed by a Chinese production company, and they included additional 4 min. scene featuring some of the local popular actors, and they released a special version of the movie over there, so it is natural that it would attract more audience over there.

In addition RDJ is already more popular actor as compared to Cavill, has had two successful IM movies and a mega successful Avengers movie, so IM 3 earning more money in China is not really a surprise.

500 mil worldwide for MOS would be disappointing, as SR adjusted for inflation and 3D effects accounting for additional boost of 15 % would be around 500 mil.

So, MOS has to make more than 500 mil, I think that it will make close to 700 mil, but I could be wrong.

Man of Steel eyes $200m mark

Warner Bros’ Superman reboot should deliver a mighty follow-up session this weekend, complemented by significant plays from a marauding horde of zombies and a far cuddlier breed of monster.

Man Of Steel was on course to cross $100m on Thursday [20] and stood at $99m by the end of Wednesday after one week in release through Warner Bros Pictures International.

The Superman reboot arrives in a further 26 markets this weekend including China, Russia, France, Germany, Italy and Spain and few will be surprised if it gets close to the $200m mark by Sunday.

Transformers 3 made $17 million and went on to make more than Iron Man 3 life time gross. I am well aware of the Chinese production but whatever the case there is a considerable margin between the two which is totally normal and expected. BTW, TASM opened to $5.3 million and it ended with around $50 million.(while facing competition with TDKR though)

you do realize mos is going up against the new jet li movie over in china right lol

I have been saying 47 million, so I agree that is the right range .
You never know about holiday totals.
I heard STID went up 20% last Sunday.

That would be my preference too.

I don't even like that a potential MOS sequel will introduce Flash or WW. That is going to take precious screen-time from Supes. I prefer a stand-alone MOS sequel if there is one.

What!? But you don't want Supes to have any screen time! Tobias, this is just one of your previous comments below which says that you want Superman off the screen for good. You must be having a laugh if you think no one is going to notice such contradictions.

You have said this and similar in so many previous comments and you are still making comments even now that the film might fail or fall short of what it needs etc! I'm sorry to sound a bit harsh but do you not remember that loads of people on here have actually witnessed your Superman and the franchise hating posts? People haven't just forgotten your comments and many think you are just a joke now,a hater who is desperate for MOS and Superman to fail and vanish. Some members are pretty peed off at you as well to be honest.

You also said you were leaving the site until August because you realised you were not welcome here anymore with lots of people and that your health was bad? You now say you are back due to being told or shown the BO figures? I think you sniffed a small chance of failure with MOS because of some bad reviews and then came back on here with your usual thinly veiled comments. imo I think you're a bit puddled to be honest mate.

Let's hope members don't forget your comments and continue to point out what you are doing. If need be there are 40 or more of your comments that can be quoted to show what you really think anyway. You have not done enough to anger the mods as yet (you have learned how to stay just on side after getting banned from previous sites),but the members here are not stupid and as you have seen, they will pull you up for your comments.

And Tobias,Superman is not going anywhere. He isn't disappearing like you desperately want. The legal battle no longer means a thing and MOS success means further films. It must be really really pissing you off...:oldrazz: :woot:

And now back to your regularly scheduled program...

That's huge differences. I thiught MOS could have make more.

You cannot compare IM3 and TF3 to MOS. MOS is a non sequel and didnt have the built in audience the other movies did. Its a very good start for the movie.

Iron Man 3 was basically endorsed by China. Those numbers were never going to happen. Use ASM and TDKR as a comparison. They both finished their run with about 50 mill.

ASM and TDKR played against each other in China and each grossed around $5 million. So, MOS should have grossed around 8-10 million. But, its fine for now. We have to wait and see how it does over the weekend.

I'm more curious about Japan. You can usually count on them but MOS doesn't open up there till August 30. Brazil is also important.
