I see a 53m weekend. With another 22m next week plus 24-27m for the 4th of July weekend maybe even 30m. That should put it at around 285-290 for its 4th week. So I say 315 320 by its 6th week

Looking at 2008 Iron Man making 318m. I feel MOS can meet that or a slightly over

Where does that put the movie WW by that time? What's your OS prediction?

I think OS will be around 475 - 500m by week 6 so WW 750-800m. I think it will be 200m OS this weekend for sure

MoS should be around at least $211 million by the end of Sunday, looking at comparable movies that should be around 65% of its total so extrapolating from that should give you a final total around $318-324M. Not the best way to do it but the fastest that gives you some idea.

i think u might be close with that final figure .. the estimate right now is that MoS was on 168.6m as on Thu .. my prediction was for 168m on Thu .. my prediction for Sun is 216-218m .. a 47m weekend will give it 215m come Sunday .. ww i expect to see somewhere around 420m by Sunday .. watch for 300m + domestic by week 6/7 .. we also should be past 600m ww by then .. as far as China is concerned, i believe that was the Thu number; i may be wrong though

^Yeah it opened in China on Thursday.

YEP .. from "Hollywood Reporter"

"HONG KONG -- Man of Steel swept Chinese cinemas on its opening day in the country on Thursday, decimating the local competition by taking nearly 80 percent of the country's total box office for the day."

expect a pretty decent figure from China come Sunday

80%? On Thursday? Damn.

MoS' performance in Asian markets is going to be interesting to see, especially since Manga/Anime aficionados compared the action to Dragon Ball Z (one reviewer even said that if you're a huge anime fan, you'll love MoS).

With very early reports of MU and WWZ coming in, anything above $50 million for MoS should be good.

pretty respectable .. the early feeling is that in China it might end between STID ($52M) & IM3($120M) numbers .. we'll see .. but good Thu start

The early reports for WWZ and MU dont look all that great. I am sure MU will pick up big time but WWZ I think will drop off after Friday

I figure the usual 60% drop. That should be about 46 or 47 mill. I would love for it to do 50.

WHat? boxoffice.com has an early estimate of 32.5 million OD for MU and 22 million OD for MOS. That's amazing! If MOS Makes over 50 million this weekend, that would be amazing given the competition.

I have no idea where you are getting your numbers, but they are not from any box office site.

from the BoT forums, WWZ is projected at 22M Friday and 57M for the weekend, which if that holds MoS will be in 3rd place. MU is currently tracking for 32.5M and 80M weekend.

I think WWZ could potentially be 2nd for today, but 3rd for the weekend.

Well a critic just bashed WWZ on my news channel. He even said "if you're a zombie apocalypse fan, there's a good chance you'll be underwhelmed."

I saw WWZ today... baffling because of how well it did with the critics on RT vs MOS.. it's no where near MOS in terms of quality... and not even close to being anywhere in terms of zombie movies.... (even though MOS has it's problems, it's still a really great movie)

I seriously doubt it'll have legs. It's new and they did ok with the trailers and I am sure it'll open strong... but it won't stay strong, at least I don't think so.

Funny enough, the scores are trending downhill. Even the critics in RT dislike WWZ for similar reasons that MOS suffered from in its RT scores (formulaic action, no soul etc.).
