I hope this will do well. I enjoyed it a lot more than Iron Man 3.

I expect 275 mil domestic and 375 overseas take, so that world wide collection is around 650 mil.

With a better release date and better overseas marketing it could have performed a little better and made about 750 mil. Oh well.

Now that increase is good... this means all those WWZ viewer are going back to MOS... the Leg is still there... if it weren't it would have drop more on Tuesday from Monday.

I hope so, for those comparing GL, in its second Tue it dropped and then dropped Wed. by over 40%. So, if MOS has a more modest 20% Tue-Wed drop then I pray people stop this GL/MOS comparison, cuz its not there.

Box-office forum (someone posted a 5.2 million, pretty decent TUE increase for MOS) nothing official yet, but we will get something official soon though.

Hopefully this is true. And I'm glad to say I contributed my $10.50 to that Tuesday number.

I'm about to add my $8.25. Ticket prices must be a little better here.

Though WB gets a smaller cut from OS sales of tickets than domestic the OS market is getting so huge that despite the difference the OS profit can now approach that from the domestic market.

This is why Marvel and Disney market so heavily OS. Unfortunately WB does not. Maybe they have not gotten the message.

So spiderman couldn't have stopped the glider? He could have easily saved him. Iron Man just took the law into his own hands and killed human beings. Batman let Ras die and killed Dent when he saved Gordon's son. Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor flew all around the city in Avengers causing major destruction. Do I have a problem with any of that? Honestly, no. It fit the movies. Superman killed a being that was on his same level physically that was hellbent on destroying the human race. I don't understand why some of you are so distraught over it. He killed in SII...deleted scenes don't count. There is a reason they are deleted. He's killed in the comics. This version of Supes is closer to the comics than anything we've gotten on screen before IMO.

I don't know about everyone but IMO MOS was the best CBM I've seen regarding and origin story. From Krypton to Smallville, to Metropolis was amazing. Everything about it I enjoy very much. Of course there are some flaws but not every movie is flawless. I don't let that be the reason not to like the movie. MOS is a movie you have to watch open minded and not refer to any previous version. I'm glad the GA like this new version... Now we can move on to explore this DC universe.

People accuse MOS as a movie without much fun, yet IM 3 did not have much fun moments either (same for Skyfall), Tony Stark was not really very happy in the entire movie, yet it made $403 mil in Us, what's the reason ?

What made general audience like it so much ?

If only it came out in 2002.
What a different world.
Fanboys and GA alike.

This is always the problem with people perception of Superman. They think he is perfect... but what MOS did is show us that Superman is not perfect when he first became our hero. Superman is just as human as we are as he was raise by Human. He is learning and will one day become that hope... This is why I believe MOS trilogy will be amazing. I'm just glad WB went this route. Can you imagine another boring perfect Superman again? No one will be able to relate to him...

I think Iron Man 3 was even too funny at points. I enjoyed the moments when it got really dramatic, only for Stark to ruin it by acting all goofy again. Or when we got that "reveal" and they threw a freaking Oleeee! Ole! Ole! Ole! in there. Seriously, Iron Man 3 had too many face palm moments for me. But watching Man of Steel, I was just completely absorbed in the movie.

WB will have something in 2015, Cannot wait that long and they know it. Expect an announcement very soon from WB on MOS2, JLA, and the DCCU.

Earliest could be ComiCon. There is a DC panel but Idunno if there is a WB panel this year. If Snyder isn't there don't expect an announcement - at least on MOS2.

MOS may not be a critical success or set the box office on fire, but the general consensus among the GA and fans...has been mostly positieve. Even the bad reviews agreed that MOS at the very least is a competently made movie and there is an undeniably entertaining element to the movie.

With all due respect, I believe that's actually the primary complaint. That it was not a competently made film. Tobias is right. Something went wrong. This was the most talked about movie all year. The marketing was there, the interest was there. The hype was unreal. People showed up and bought tickets. Everything was great.

Until the opening credits.

And I gotta be honest, I'm just not sure where they go from here. I'm not even sure if I want WB to shove a sequel down our throats. I'm not sure if this movie even deserves a sequel at all. And like Tobias pointed out, my biggest fear is that they'll hold this against the Superman brand itself and not the filmmakers responsible. And if they do scrap plans for a Superman sequel, or a Justice League, or a DC universe... you gotta think it's gonna be a LONG time before we see Superman again on the silver screen. And that really saddens me.

I suggested that maybe DC just has to accept the fact they dropped the ball and give up on the idea of having "franchises". Maybe that's just not their game. Instead of trying to establish franchises, just go full blown and jump right into major epic one offs... like The Death Of Superman or Kingdom Come or something. It's too late now to try and create a universe, just dive right in. People don't need to be told who Superman and Batman are, or Wonder Woman, or Flash. Just go into the movie expecting the audience to know who they are in advance. It's not much of a leap if you ask me.

It's not the route I would have originally suggested, but DC is just too far behind in this race and with MOS not performing as expected... this feels like a good backup plan.

So, expect the next Superman movie to be similar in tone to IM 3 as it made billion.

It will also address the complaints about lack of fun, return of campy take on Superman, where's Otis ?

People expect fun in a Superman film. MOS was dark. The person I went with felt it depressing. My Dad was that person and he had seen heatres and told me all the fun and serious moments. How the audience cheered, laughed and shouted at various points in the film. The audience for MOS was basically quiet throughout. So it didn't seem to connect to them emotionally as had STM in the day with it's audiences.

STM had classic lines while there were really none in MOS. Cavill was forced to play a brooding/sad Superman and had none of the great comic moments Reeve did in STM. MOS was just too one-dimensional in that way.

There's so many ways MOS can go with a sequel... There's more ways than there was with STM and SR... Just because it isn't a masterpiece doesn't mean the sequel is going to not be any good... Have some faith folks... MOS 2 will happen and may be the masterpiece all of you wanted. I for one love MOS as is and glad to finally see a cool badass Superman on the big screen...

well i'm adding $8 tnite, another $8 on Fri .. then at least another $16 into next week .. that'll push it over 290m by the end of its run .. promise

Yeah, like how the Incredible Hulk choked the Abomination to death.

Point of order: the Hulk specifically did *not* choke the Abomination to death, though he definitely was considering it.

People expect STM made with today's CGI... That's what some people wanted. MOS is the perfect way to take Superman... Only thing that will happen is in the sequel you'll see more Clark/Superman, lois and Clark, and the fun everyone wants... MOS was to show us Superman is not all just a good boy with no flaws... it was to show us he is just like all of us and not perfect... That he makes mistake...

This is a sentiment I can always agree with.

MOS dealt with a man trying to find his place in the world. Now that he's stopped wandering the Globe and works at the Planet with Lois, I'm sure there'll be a lot of fun adventures.
