The first week of May is a prime BO spot so SOny aren't moving it, if Webb doesn't return then they'll get someone else. My choice, Brad Bird.

That is true. SM1 and SM3 were both released in July.

What has Brad Bird done?

Iron Giant.
Incredibles.
Ratatouille.
MI:4.

And I loved every single one of those movies, the down side is there is little romantic tention in any of those movies so it's difficult to know if he could handle the dynamic of Gwen and Peter with the panache that Webb did, that said we'd be trading up with regards to action.

Just because Webb doesn't come back doesn't mean it will fall apart. Since this movie was the first of a trilogy, and just a setup film, Webb hasn't really put a stamp on the franchise, labeling it to be his. As long as they get a good director who understands what the franchise is going for, it will be fine.
what if a new director comes in and doesnt like webbs tone or the new script?he will want to change things to his view and they are up against that release date.it was easy for raimi to do the sequel in 2 yrs because he already had things set up he was already working on it when spidey 1 came out.im just worried it could be in trouble by being rushed with a new director i dont know why they didnt wait 3 yrs between sequels

I'd rather be in competition with X:FC 2 (2014) and GotG (2014) than Avengers 2 (2015) and JL (2015)

If I know Sony well enough, they wouldn't allow for a new director to make so many changes. They like to interfere a lot, and have a huge say in the movie's direction. And honestly, as much as I liked how Webb handled TASM, it wouldn't be such a huge loss if the sequel was different.

That being said, if A2 comes out in May (2015) with Spidey playing a part in the movie then Spidey coming out a couple of months later could be major with people hungry for more.

No...just no.

What's GotG?

And I find X-Men: First Class 10 times better than The Avengers.

Guardians of the Galaxy.

And when it comes to financially, it would be better to be up against the sequel to First Class.

Before Spider-Man ever shows up, I want to see Ant-Man, Wasp, Vision, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel.

Honestly, I don't care for Spidey in the Avengers...
Spider-Man doesn't have to be in the Avengers. I just want him to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So if there was a secret wars movie, or civil war title, he could play a role in it.

The thing that everyone has to realize is that there is more to the MCU than just solo movies leading up to the Avengers. There are so many possibilities for this universe to do many crossover films beyond the Avengers.

I don't want Marvel to make Spidey movies but I definately want to see Spidey in the Avengers.

Spidey trading quips with Tony
Spidey facing cosmic entities
Spidey feeling out of his depth with universe ending threats

bring it on!

Once again Spider-Man doesn't even have to be in the Avengers. He could easily team up with Iron Man in one of his movies, Captain America, etc. To me, the ultimate comic book movie would be a really well done Secret Wars film.

The Solo movies are about fleshing out the individual heroes.

There was a lot of screen time for all the heroes in Avengers but Hawkeye got screen time as a villian and that wouldn't be the case (him being a villian) in the sequel. Spidey would have to take screen time from a hero or risk adding another mouth to an already padded cast. I would have no problem whatsoever so taking away screen time from Hawkeye.

they didnt know those movies were set for 2015 when they set spidey2 for2014.justice league is still not a lock for 2015 they only said that after avengers came out.wb still doesnt know how to include batman in justice league yet or what version of batman.going by your logic why wasnt sony afraid of avengers or dark knight rises?i dont think a studio cares about competion if they think they got a good movie people will come.avengers made over 600mill batman will make over 400mill.

Studio's always consider competition. It's a business not a work of art to them, it's about making profit. Look at Thor, that movie was supposed to come out late May 2011, in order to avoid competition with Spider-Man 4 scheduled to open the first week, but they pushed it forward after it was cancelled. Sony didn't care too much because Spider-Man is a heavy weight franchise, that can take on Avengers and Batman. The only thing was it was a reboot and a controversial one at that so it suffered but still came out well, especially compared to previous reboots.

Anyway Justice League will NOT happen in 2015. Avengers was set for 2010 or 11 when Iron Man AND Incredible Hulk were released back in 08. We only had 2 new franchises introduced 3 years later granted, but still. Man of Steel isn't coming till 2014, there's no progress on a new Batman flick (AMS had a script right when the decision was made) so I can't see it coming out before 2016, Flash is in developmental hell, Green Lantern tanked in 2011, and Wonder Woman only has directors who have "expressed interest".

DC and WB can't expect to release a film to the audience introducing all of these characters to us. This isn't a cartoon. People may know who Superman and Batman are pretty well, but theres going to be people confused if its connected to Chris Nolan's series with no reboot. Not to mention even if people generally know the characters Wonder Woman, Flash, GL, and Martian Manhunter, most people aren't familiar with their backgrounds or alter egos. It's not like Hawkeye and Black Widow we don't know much about, because as far as we know they're just normal people. It's much harder to introduce people with a variety of strange superpowers, without background.

Anyway that being said I can't see Justice League coming until 2017-18 realistically.

That being said with the reception and success of Amazing 1, if the marketing is done right Amazing 2 could easily reach the success we had with TDK in 08, regardless of competition. First Class 2 isn't going to be a heavy hitter being a period piece unless they DO go with Days of the Future Past and we see the two cast's together. THAT would be huge! GotG isn't going to be too big I don't think, honestly no one know who they are, it's more of an experiment I think than anything else. Finally I don't see Avengers 2 coming out until 2016.

Yes, Warner Bros. can release a Justice League film, people know these characters much better than they do The Avengers characters. You don't need to introduce all of them in separate films.

That is true, but that's irrelevant. The fact is the Avengers don't have the duel identity problem, the Justice League has. Agent Romanoff (Black Widow) is Agent Romanoff, Agent Barton (Hawkeye) is Agent Barton, Loki is Loki, Thor is Thor, Captain Rogers is just nicknamed Captain America, Tony Stark just has the Iron Man armor, and Dr.Banner turns into a Rage monster.

If you show a random person a picture of Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne, they'll probably be able to guess that, but not Hal Jordan, Barry Alen, or Diana. Do you realize how many people I know who called the Green Lantern movie "racist" because he's "the black dude in the comics right?".

Not to mention Pre MCU Marvel's most iconic superheroes were Spider-Man, The Hulk, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four to a lesser extent. These are DCs big flag iconic characters.

Finally the Avengers was two and half hours, with two of it's teammates (Hawkeye and Black Widow) in the background the whole movie, and getting right into the action in the very begging. If people were confused they had previous films to reference, that wouldn't be the case here. Even before the Avengers DC planned to launch Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, Flash, and Wonder Woman films that were unrelated to get them into the public subconscious before taking a crack at the Avengers.

I don't know why you insist on starting arguments with everyone on this board!

Legend, Man of Steel is a June 2013 release.

Yeah my bad that was a type-o. Was thinking ahead of myself and got my thoughts jumbled, thanks for the correction though!

Trust me, you're over thinking this. People will instantly accept all the characters of the Justice League, simply because they are far more well known. Through hit cartoons, TV shows, etc., they're house-hold names, no one will question how they came to be, unless the movie itself is weak. I see The Justice League showing Marvel how it's really done, by not making the movie for kids, 80% action and every other scene made for sh--s and giggles.

Who's actually involved with this film, is Nolan a producer of Justice League?

Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and the Flash are far more well known?

Wonder Woman and Flash are hugely known characters, but not Martian Manhunter. But he too will be accepted because he'll be amongst popular comic book characters.
