The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

I shouldn't have said he was different as a character. When he saw Peter was given powers because of the spider DNA combined with the OZ formula, Norman thought that perhaps if he took the spider and combined it with his own DNA, he would create a superior version of himself. Instead he became the Green Goblin. I know Peter's blood was in there somewhere. He took a blood sample from him in order to do some testing and all.

Interesting. I'd prefer the 616 take on him but I can see Sony heading this direction. However, I think they'll go the 616 route when it comes to looks of Green Goblin and have the formula make him stronger, regenerative etc. like in 616 and Raimi's SM1.

Yeah, and not only that, Webb & Co should be aware of the fact that many Spidey fans hate the Ultimate version of Gobby. Also, he would be too much like the Lizard (human taking a serum and becoming a green monster).

Oh I have no idea. Green Goblin is very likely for ASM2 but he might as well be saved for ASM3. Especially if Sony, as it seems, want more than 3 films. I can imagine the first three films be the Gwen Stacy trilogy then, and later movies to focus on Peter trying to move on and eventually getting together with MJ. If they go that route, Green Goblin and the Death of Gwen Stacy story would be very fitting for ASM3.

It took some time before we got promo arts for Lizard and even then pretty much everyone knew he was going to be the villain. I don't think we got concept art until just recently.

I don't think Sony's planning any further than the trilogy, even so, she'd die in the second act if anything (the second act is always the lowest point in the characters arc.)

Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach said as late as in this July that they want more films and "at least three".

Agreed.

What makes you say that? You do realize if they don't make any films after TASM, they will lose the film rights to the character. Spider-Man is the biggest franchise they have.

 Exactly.

Compared to Raimi's trilogy, they seem to plan ahead alot more this time (for the better and worse, mostly the better if you ask me). With Raimi's films, the only thing that showed intentions of planning ahead was the Harry arc. Now, as they plan ahead more from the beginning, they have a bigger chance at making a story that can cover more than 3 films.

Agree. Now once again I will say that the first Spider-Man movie was better than TASM as a solid film. If SM2 was bad, or was never made, it wouldn't have affected SM1 as much. TASM2 will make or break this reboot franchise.

TASM has given TASM2 so much potential to be a great movie. They are planning for the future really well, and I am excited to see where the movies go from here. I never understood why Doc Ock had to die in SM2, because it cancelled out any possibility of a Sinister Six movie.

While I love ASM alot more than SM1, I hear what you're saying. They could quit after SM1 and it wouldn't get hurt at all, while ASM really calls for a sequel to solve some unresolved mysteries.

 Exactly. SM1 had Harry swear he would get revenge for his father's death, but that's all. The movie concluded, Peter was Spider-Man and he learned his lesson about responsibility. The same goes for the 2003 Hulk, and Daredevil movies. They didn't get sequels, but they also didn't really need them. Amazing Spider-Man NEEDS a sequel. Badly.

If you look at my thread about unresolved stories, TASM has tons!

Yeah ASM definitely needs the sequel. Which is also why I have a feeling that many people will like ASM more once we get it.

If the sequel is really good, people will have more appreciation for TASM.

Because it's hard to predict whats going to happen in the future and how you're going to pay off plot points. Im not saying they're not going to make more, I'm just saying they're not thinking them through. Plus I see a third reboot coming after TAMS films are done. Eventually it falls apart when you lose the cast you know?

After this franchise, I see a reboot happening, but one that does not retell the origin. Just have Peter Parker be Spider-Man from the start.

So, let me ask this straight out right now:

Is Marc Webb returning or not?
I think he did a wonderful job with the first one, and I really want him to return.

We don't know yet. We will probably know within the next few months or so.

it will be soon probably becaue they got to be shoooting by jan.it depends if fox plays hardball and make him do there movie first.

Yeah. I'm so excited to see some set photos.

When did shooting begin for TASM? Principal photography started on December 6th, 2010.

Since TASM2 is coming out two months earlier in the year than TASM, I assume it would also start filming two months earlier then? So in October?

What do you guys think will the films titke be? It certainly wont be "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". I just dont see that. I think its going to be "Web of Spider-Man".

I'm thinking the Amazing Spider-Man 2. We have comics that are numbered this way, it makes sense, why not? Besides "The Web of Spider-Man" is a pretty bad title for a movie.

It's going to be ASM 2.
Sony had a hard enough time getting over the hump of a reboot without risking general audience confusing by retitling Amazing to something else.

You guys really think it's going to be called "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" ....

Superman - Man of Steel
Batman - The Dark Knight

Spidey doesn't really have another icon title;
Webhead
Web Slinger
Friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man

You could name the movies after the comic titles Spidey has had in the past;
Amazing - Done
Spectacular
Web of
Ultimate

but you risk the general audience thinking it's another reboot.
