Or they're pulling a Batman Returns and he's got many pieces of the same outfit. To impress the whales.
Those whales aren't worthy, he's trying to woo that rock over there.

Does that early video mean this will be the first Star Wars movie to literally pick up from the end of the last one?
Just wondering how we should take it.
I think that would be interesting by the way. I'm fine if Rian Johnson and co. want to explore some new ideas and conventions this time.
It would be weird to change the clothes when we've barely seen him in his TFA robes. There must be a story reason for him to change, if he does.
For people in the galaxy who are old enough, they know what a Jedi looks like. Look wouldn't want to stand out as Jedi. He'd want to blend in so not everybody is like 'oh look it's that famous last Jedi Luke Skywalker over there'
So, I've always been adamant that the Big Three should remain with the original actors, and that any new stories that take place in their pasts should be done via books, comic books or animation rather than live-action Anthology films. But... With a new Han Solo on the way, it looks like we've got no choice but to accept it. Question is-- Would you guys take a post-RotJ Anthology movie about Luke, that explores his initial search for Force knowledge/other users/building of his Order... even though it's obviously wouldn't be Hamill performing him?
As I said-- I've always been firmly in the "no" camp... But hell, a lot of big characters have been recast to eventual acclaim, even if they're not perfect-- Fassbender/McKellan now share the Magneto role, as do McAvoy/Stewart with Professor X. Trek has successfully done new a new Kirk and Spock etc (this one feels the closest to the SW situation, since the characters originated from the actors, rather than a comic). And of course... McGregor/Guiness with Obi-Wan.
One of my bigger fears with it is that it just keeps going on forever-- recasting the role every ten or fifteen years, leading to "Oh, my favourite's always Hamill", "Nah, mine's *insert whoever*", "No way, *insert actor* is clearly going to be the best of all"... Like with Bond, Superman and Batman etc. I just feel like if not done right, it could dilute the thing, with everyone having different versions of him, y'know?
Where does everyone stand on that?
*NOTE: It was some pretty uncanny photoshop work of Sebastian Stan as Luke that got me thinking about this.

This is f***ing me up.
Ha, I saw that manip an hour ago and posted about it on the TF.N Hamill thread:
So you guys would be on board with it?
Luke's exile may have to do with his disillusionment with the order entirely. He probably blames himself more than anything but the fact that he chose to get as far away from everyone as possible could be due to him seeing himself, and perhaps the Jedi in general, as too powerful and dangerous and easily corruptible. I don't know where the ancient Jedi temples fit in with that motivation, but we'll have to see.
Long hair.
