Really depressing to think about in the long run. It's also infuriates me even more when I realize that all of this was done so that Disney could prop up Rey as the alpha and omega of the Star Wars universe as the unbeatable and infallible (fake) Jedi.
So I just heard that one of the reasons why Colin was replaced for Episode 9 was because he wanted Luke to survive post TLJ but Rian and Kathleen were against it.
Wow, if that is truly the case then those two are bigger idiots that I took them for.
Whatever Kathleen and Rian had in mind for the Last Jedi, it backfired because the reactions were between mixed to negative and rightfully so.
Originally they wanted Leia to have a bigger role in Episode 9, but that's no longer the case since Carrie Fisher passed away. It should have been Luke. I still don't understand why they would want him killed off in Last Jedi when they just re-introduced him at the end of Force Awakens.
I agree 110%, but at this point it doesent matter.. Im honestly done with this franchise. For me Star Wars ended with Return of the Jedi! It was the perfect ending, and still is. People take liberties with the franchise and the characters ( Luke would never think or act the way he did in last Jedi )but for me that doesent matter. It was about the rise , fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker.
Bad enough? In what sense? For me it ended with RotJ too, but only because they've screwed up these prequels so badly. The sequels were atrocities that I just ignored, the new ones now are bad enough I'm just going to ignore them too. Rogue one is the only one other than the original trilogy I'll ever watch again.

I am a life long Luke Skywalker fan. He is my favorite character in anything. I don't know if I ever loved him more then TLJ.
That sounds amazing danoyse. Seeing Hamill and Oz in the same place. So cool.I saw Mark Hamill be interviewed by Frank Oz at the 92Y in NYC on Friday night. It was really great. Frank Oz was the interviewer, and he was determined to keep the focus on Mark, although Mark was fanboying over him as much as the audience was (he said he'd like to do another event where he got to ask Frank all of the questions), and a question about the Muppets did sneak its way in.
But it was a lot of fun. Mark's a great storyteller, and he's so funny. They talked a lot about his NY theater days, and those stories were so good it was almost a bummer when they switched gears over to the Star Wars talk.
But the SW stuff was fun too. He did the Harrison Ford impression a bunch of times, which was hilarious. There were a few Carrie stories too - my favorite was how she gave him a hard time because he barely mentioned SW in his Playbill bio when he was doing theater. She told him "I am Princess Leia, you are Luke Skywalker. GET USED TO IT!" And when he pointed out that he'd gotten a Drama Desk nomination, she said "Oh you were nominated, you didn't even win."
There was some TLJ talk as well - and no, he didn't go into any of the stuff about his initial misgivings about the direction they took Luke in. Honestly, he looked relieved to not have to answer that one again. He said the only thing he was genuinely sad about was that he didn't get to have any scenes with Harrison. He also had some very nice words about Rian Johnson - about how he worked one-on-one with everyone on the set, and how when he was directing, he could picture him doing all this with his SW action figures as a kid.
It was so cool to see Frank Oz too. Mark said that he brought his kids to the Sesame Street set when they were little, and even though they could see Frank and the other puppeteers were right there operating them, his kids were just glued to the characters. It was really sweet.
For me it would be Luke, Rey, Kylo, Leia, Holdo Snoke and Hux in terms of the love. I am not hot on how he wrote Poe and Finn, especially Poe.Him and Rey are the only ones I loved from Last Jedi.

That Empire story is just glorious. And good to see Mark is as big a Muppets fan as we all are.It was so cool. Frank Oz was trying so much to keep the focus on Mark, but wow...you really can hear so many of the Muppets when just when he's speaking. I need to check out the new Muppet Guys Talking documentary that's out now.
They were talking about filming the Yoda scenes in Empire, and how Mark would sometimes pick up radio stations on the earpiece he had to wear and Irvin Kershner got mad at him because he cracked up laughing during a shot because Yoda was interrupted by a Rolling Stones song.
Frank also said that Mark really made those scenes work because he really sold that Yoda was real. And they talked about the time Mark was on the Muppet Show, and he was so geeked out over it. "It wasn't, 'they want me to do the Muppet Show', it was "THEY WANT ME TO DO THE MUPPET SHOW!!!"![]()

Growing up, those Yoda/Luke scenes became instant favorites for me. I watched them so many times, they are probably etched in my skull. And even knowing Yoda is a puppet, he just feels so real. Both men created such magic together.
And thanks for mentioning Muppet Guys Talking. I am going to to need to check that out too.![]()

That is officially the single coolest lunchbox in history.I had a Pigs in Space lunchbox in first grade.
The Luke/Yoda scene in TLJ is turning into the moment that leaves me all verklempt when I watch it. I had no idea Yoda was going to be in the movie before I saw it, and seeing Luke brought so low, then for Yoda to appear and literally smack some sense back into him. Still the teacher and the student, after all these years. The two of them were so great in that scene, it's one of my favorite parts of the movie.
