Capcom Marvel vs. Capcom 3

This game needs to happen. It's a pain getting out my old xbox just to play MVC2 because it doesn't work right on the 360.

So uh, off topic, but at the top of the last page people were wondering why no one does split-screen anymore. The reason for this is that the game is having to be rendered however many times the screen is being "split". It's aready a big challenge for developer's to make games that are fun to play, look good, sound good, and run smoothly on one screen. It should go without saying that trying to do all of that four times over on the same screen would be a huge challenge. Not to mention folks who demand split-screen gameplay are a very niche market and developers just can't devote the resources to cater to such a small group.

Like most gamers, I look back fondly on the days of you and three of your buddies hudled around a screen playing Goldeneye. Squinting to see the action, reveling in every kill, talking about the match afterwards, etc... But as much as I enjoyed those days, those times are over and in truth I don't miss them that much. I probably have more fun playing online with my friends now, than I ever did with split-screen back then.

I honestly would be disappointed if Capcom used the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom engine, because it' just too freaking "noob friendly." It only has 3 attack buttons, which is absolutely atrocious IMO. The game sounds like it's still fun, but it's not for the hardcore fighting fan. If Capcom wants to do MVC3 the right way, I think they should base it on the Street Fighter 4 engine and use 6 buttons. Since the roster will be smaller than in MVC2, they'll probably only have teams of 2 characters, and as a result they won't need to have dedicated assist buttons like in MVC2. The controls could be a bit more like the original Marvel vs. Capcom, but with the gameplay refinements from MVC2. I really don't want it to play like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom though. TVS is a fine game for Wii since Wii is a system aimed at casual players, but for MVC3, I want a hardcore experience with a proper 6-button layout.

Yea a Marvel vs Capcom 3 using the Street Fighter IV engine would be soooo sick.

Capcom is saying that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 isn't very likely. However, chances are high for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 HD Remix.

MVC2 HD Remix would be pretty bad ass, but if Capcom has gotten the Marvel Vs. license back, why wouldn't they use it to make MVC3? Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was, and still is, one of the most popular fighters out there, and the demand for a sequel is pretty freaking high-- and with the sales of Street Fighter IV being as excellent as they are, there's definitely going to be a market for it within the next two years. I think most people would much rather have MVC3 than a rushed Street Fighter 5 or "Super Street Fighter IV: Second Turbo Impact Remix."

Also, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are Marvel really want MVC2 to happen. And given that Marvel is much more multimedia-savvy than they were when MVC2 came out, the release of MVC3 could be something of epic proportions.

Yeah, but with a roster of like 50 characters, could you imagine how long it might take to develope it? Look how long it took to make Street Fighter II HD Remix, and that game only had 16 characters, all with fairly limited animation and move lists! If they were to try and re-make MVC2 in HD, unless they hired two Anime studios to do the animation or something, it could be years before it's finished. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who remembers all the delays that SF2 HD went through to reach our PS3s and Xbox 360s, but it was A LOT. I think the Capcom guy who implied that making an MVC2 Remix would be easier than making MVC3 said it out of naivete. Making MVC3 might be a bit more expensive, but it would actually be possible to get it out on time as long as the goal wasn't to re-create every character from MVC2 in HD. I say, start with about 25-30 fan favorites, and if there absolutely MUST be more, they can be added later as DLC.

yeah, true. sf2 hd remix took a really long while.

mvc3 would be a better route; not only would it take about as long, but it'd definitely sell way more and probably end up turning more profit.

What I'm still suprised by is none of the Fantastic Four or Thor making the cut in the other ones.

Thor was on my list.I think he could have some great Hammer based and Lighting based attacks.:woot:

my guess is that its cheaper to make MvC 2 HD. It might cost them less to aquire the liscense from Marvel to release an updated version of an old game then to create an entirely new game. Also this game would most likely be a downloadable on XBL and PSN whereas MvC3 would be a store release. Downloadable tends to be cheaper as Capcom would bypass the costs attributed to creating physical copies including shipping, packaging, advertisements, etc... They'll be better capable of controlling sales as they wont have to deal with the used game market the way they would if it had a physical copy. I can definetly see why going back to MvC 2 would be more appealing to them

all the previous characters from the first two:

new characters:

for Marvel:
Carnage (not a color-swapped Venom)
Black Cat
Morbious
Cloak & Dagger
Dr. Strange
Punisher
Jean Grey/Phoenix
Beast

for Capcom:
Chris and Claire Redfield
Tyrant
Nemesis
Leon Kennedy
Regina (From Dino Crisis)
Dante

With Activision making crappy Marvel games, I'm hoping Marvel will end their partnership with Activision and give their license to multiple developers, including Capcom, so we can finally see a MvC 3.

I think Marvel's deal with Activision is done for the most part. They lost the licenses for Fantastic Four, Blade, and Iron Man. The only licenses Activision has now are Spider-Man, X-Men, and the ability to use characters for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Marvel now goes to Sega for games with the Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America licenses. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sega to eventually take up other licenses like Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Ant-Man, and whatnot when films in those properties start back up.

I'm fine with MVC3 as long as get rid of that Assist ****. I want my medium buttons back!

I beleive the main reason that was done was to make the game very user-friendly for the Dreamcast controller. The game was built on Sega's Naomi board which was why the console version was near arcade perfect and the best of the home releases. That controller was perfect for the game and I didnt mind the controls. Made things easier to keep track of especially with the added playable character and things getting chaotic

I hate Marrow because of that voice of hers.

"towering spine!" Nails on a chalkboard.

Considering the ridiculous demand that Capcom has been able to generate for Madcatz' 6-button fightpads and arcade sticks, I have a feeling that making games standard gamepad-friendly is going to be less of a concern for them this time around. If anything, I think that they'd be keen on the idea of keeping the demand for arcade sticks going, since it's generating a lot of good business for all the parties involved.

I don't know any Capcom characters besides Megaman so here's my Marvel list:
Spider-Man
Venom
Carnage
Wolverine
Deadpool
Cable
Gambit
Cyclops
Jean Grey
Beast
Iron Man
War Machine
Thor
Captain America
Hulk
Rogue
Green Goblin
Daredevil
Bullseye
Punisher
Ghost Rider
Juggernaut
Mr. Fantastic
Invisible Woman
Human Torch
The Thing
Ms. Marvel
Nightcrawler
Iceman

Geez, some of these lists are pretty ridiculous... I mean, I know for a fact that the game is not going to have a roster of 100 characters. The only reason MVC2 had a 50 character roster was because the vast majority of the characters were merely cut and paste from other games. With MVC2, Capcom is gonna have to work from the ground up for pretty much everyone but the Street Fighter characters, since no-one else has been adapted to the 3D engine before. A roster of about 30 characters max seems a lot more likely to me, with 15 characters on each side. There's no way we're going to have an MVC2 sized roster though, much less one even bigger.

None of the Marvel characters have, but Capcom defeintly has half the work done with the Capcom fighter thanks to Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I think if we were to get a roster of 30, than that would be good enough. Im all for big rosters as are most people, but seriously its not like everyone uses them all. Most people tend to stick with a select 5 or so. Start off with a min of 30 for the game and then build up from there with DLC, expansion or a proper sequel.
