This game needs to happen. It's a pain getting out my old xbox just to play MVC2 because it doesn't work right on the 360.
Yea a Marvel vs Capcom 3 using the Street Fighter IV engine would be soooo sick.
Yeah, but with a roster of like 50 characters, could you imagine how long it might take to develope it? Look how long it took to make Street Fighter II HD Remix, and that game only had 16 characters, all with fairly limited animation and move lists! If they were to try and re-make MVC2 in HD, unless they hired two Anime studios to do the animation or something, it could be years before it's finished. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who remembers all the delays that SF2 HD went through to reach our PS3s and Xbox 360s, but it was A LOT. I think the Capcom guy who implied that making an MVC2 Remix would be easier than making MVC3 said it out of naivete. Making MVC3 might be a bit more expensive, but it would actually be possible to get it out on time as long as the goal wasn't to re-create every character from MVC2 in HD. I say, start with about 25-30 fan favorites, and if there absolutely MUST be more, they can be added later as DLC.

Thor was on my list.I think he could have some great Hammer based and Lighting based attacks.t:
my guess is that its cheaper to make MvC 2 HD. It might cost them less to aquire the liscense from Marvel to release an updated version of an old game then to create an entirely new game. Also this game would most likely be a downloadable on XBL and PSN whereas MvC3 would be a store release. Downloadable tends to be cheaper as Capcom would bypass the costs attributed to creating physical copies including shipping, packaging, advertisements, etc... They'll be better capable of controlling sales as they wont have to deal with the used game market the way they would if it had a physical copy. I can definetly see why going back to MvC 2 would be more appealing to themMVC2 HD Remix would be pretty bad ass, but if Capcom has gotten the Marvel Vs. license back, why wouldn't they use it to make MVC3? Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was, and still is, one of the most popular fighters out there, and the demand for a sequel is pretty freaking high-- and with the sales of Street Fighter IV being as excellent as they are, there's definitely going to be a market for it within the next two years. I think most people would much rather have MVC3 than a rushed Street Fighter 5 or "Super Street Fighter IV: Second Turbo Impact Remix."
Also, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are Marvel really want MVC2 to happen. And given that Marvel is much more multimedia-savvy than they were when MVC2 came out, the release of MVC3 could be something of epic proportions.
With Activision making crappy Marvel games, I'm hoping Marvel will end their partnership with Activision and give their license to multiple developers, including Capcom, so we can finally see a MvC 3.
I kind of liked Cable and Marrow and I hope they stay in. Cable made playing through single player a breeze, but he is way too cheap for multi player.
Jill needs to stay in, she was an absolute blast to play in MvC2.
None of the Marvel characters have, but Capcom defeintly has half the work done with the Capcom fighter thanks to Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I think if we were to get a roster of 30, than that would be good enough. Im all for big rosters as are most people, but seriously its not like everyone uses them all. Most people tend to stick with a select 5 or so. Start off with a min of 30 for the game and then build up from there with DLC, expansion or a proper sequel.Geez, some of these lists are pretty ridiculous... I mean, I know for a fact that the game is not going to have a roster of 100 characters. The only reason MVC2 had a 50 character roster was because the vast majority of the characters were merely cut and paste from other games. With MVC2, Capcom is gonna have to work from the ground up for pretty much everyone but the Street Fighter characters, since no-one else has been adapted to the 3D engine before. A roster of about 30 characters max seems a lot more likely to me, with 15 characters on each side. There's no way we're going to have an MVC2 sized roster though, much less one even bigger.
