Capcom Marvel vs. Capcom 3

I hope it's not true. Do we really need X-23 when we have Wolverine?
Not really but hoinestly, considering she's one of my favorite characters, I cant say Im upset. Wolverine's attacks would mostly be slashes with his fist but she'd be a combination of fist and kick moves. They'd make her more agile and give her kcik moves that he wouldnt be able to do. They'd play very differently despite their similarities

I hope to see a good couple of villains in the mix too and not be too heavy on heroes. I think Magneto and Dr. Doom are pretty safe bets. But I'd also love to see villains such as Green Goblin, Dormammu, Dr. Octopus, Mephisto, Mandarin, Ultron, Loki and a couple more.

Cant believe this game is finally coming. So bad ass. Hope they dont differ too much from what made MvC2 fantastic. Can. not. wait.

I'm absolutely horrible at fighting games, but I will probably wind up getting this if they finally--FINALLY--include Thor as more than just a goddamn assist character. Nova would be awesome, too.

I just hope it will be a little less hectic than MvC2. I hated it how every 2 seconds the tag partner came out and kicked me in the face.

Agree on both! Being too hectic kinda takes away the epic feeling to me. And yes, Thor should definitely be in the main roster, especially when he will have his own movie soon. And I can't wait to play Nova if he's in there.

All 4 main Avengers need to be in this. We've got Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America. Now bring on Thor! :argh:

I can't believe it's finally happening! It's a definite preorder. This is without a doubt my most highly anticipated game. There has to be at least one cut scene with Dante and Deadpool trading verbal jabs.:awesome:

No news yet. I'm sure it will be a good amount each side. I'm thinking 15 minimum.

And please, no more than 5 X-Men. PLEASE.

Any idea as to how many characters we will get on each side?

I think maybe around the same number that Tatsunoko Vs Capcom had. I think that had like 27-28 characters, which is a lot for a fighting game done from scratch. I'd be really happy with 14 characters per side. And hopefully the set the game up so they can later add DLC characters.

I really hope so. Didn't they say SFIV was getting DLC characters? Now it's getting a Disc release because they supposedly couldn't fit it into a DLC or because SFIV suddenly wasn't made for it.

I dont ever recall SFIV ever being announced or DLC characters. Costumes yes, but not characters. They went the disc route bc they went and did alot more than just simply add new characters. I really dont mind if this game doesnt get DLC characters. What I really hope is that they dont have exclusive characters per system (unless its 1st party stuff) or preorder exclusives (which I fear the most)

I know they talked about T. Hawk and Dee Jay as possible DLC characters when asked by fans.

And I wouldn't mind 1st party exclusives. Sony could add either Kratos, Nathan Drake or Cole MacGrath. For Microsoft, either Master Chief or the guy from Gears of War. What other exclusives does Microsoft have?

I defiently thought of Kratos. He worked really well in Soul Calibur for the PSP. I think he'd fit in the most out of the characters you listed, but Cole from Infamous would also be really fun. Im really not so sure about MS's end outside of those two. They are probably the most popular. Maybe someone from Crackdown?

dude it's capcom, it's a good damn guarantee

so have we heard what systems it will be, they're last one was a wii exclusive wasn't it
I think its a safe bet that this is a PS3/360 title. Whether the Wii gets one is up in the air

Kotaku is saying that Superskrull is one of the new characters.

I know a character I'm playing. :D

Superskrull!!!!!!!! :awesome:

If he is in Nova has GOTTA be in.

And Thanos anyone? Ohhh that would be immense.

Well, the Ryu at the end looked like a almsot like a higher detailed version from Tatsunoko vs Capcom. So the Wii could probably get it too.

Just saw the Kotaku news too. Guess I'll post it here.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's Bombastic Trailer Reveals 16 Characters

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is official, with at least 30 characters and a 2011 release date for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, Capcom confirmed last week.

While only six of the game's characters are shown in this short, almost entirely gameplay-free trailer, many others are hinted at.

What we know for sure is that Wolverine, the Hulk, Iron Man, Street Fighter's Ryu, Darkstalker's Morrigan and Resident Evil's Chris Redfield will be in the game.

Judging by the art used to unveil the game and this video, here's who else we think will be in the game:

Captain America, Super Skrull, Chun-Li, Deadpool, Felicia, Dante, Frank West, Mephisto, Black Widow and Doctor Doom all appear to show up as silhouettes in the promotional material.

Did you catch any others?

I'd also love to hear your thoughts on settings for the fights and, more interesting perhaps, what sort of fiction the two teams will be weaving to explain the battle royale that kicks the game off.
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Will Be a "Living Comic" With A Deep Story

It's been ten years since the characters of Marvel's comics and Capcom's video games faced off in a fighting title, so 2011's Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds can't come soon enough.

The title, which will likely feature more than 30 characters to choose from and feature 3-on-3 tag team fighting, hits the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in spring 2011. There currently are no plans for an arcade, computer or Wii version of the title, Capcom tells Kotaku.

"I'm really excited to be here so that I can share this information with you today," Ryota Niitsuma, the game's producer, told a room of journalists gathered last week in Hawaii for the game's unveiling.

Like Capcom's popular Street Fighter IV, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will feature 3D characters fighting on a 2D plane, he said. The game won't, however, use the same sort of graphics found in Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. Instead Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will run on an "advanced version" of MT Framework, the same engine that powers the graphics of Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5.

"Each version of MT Framework gets better than the previous version," Niitsuma said. "A lot of key staff are involved with this game and they wanted to use the engine they are more comfortable with."

Chris Baker, the manager of licensed games at Marvel Studios, said he was astounded to see the concept art for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and said that in action it's just as amazing, calling the title a "beautiful, beautiful game."

Baker pointed out that Wolverine's look in the game hearkens back to the classic look of the beloved character. Iron Man, on the other hand, fits his contemporary look and The Hulk has a new visual style.

The shaders used on each character, Capcom's Seth Killian said, are what really make all of the characters so visually distinct in motion. Even Capcom's Ryu, he pointed out, is brought out in a new way with the help of the shaders.

"You could see him sitting in a comic book frame," Killian said, "and maybe one day you will."

The game will also have an eclectic and robust mix of music, with at least 100 pieces including remixes of favorites from previous Marvel Vs. Capcom games as well as some new music.

"It's all about having a lot of content and things to go with this game," Niitsuma said. "We also want to make sure the music suits the type of game this is."

And the music needs to suit the characters as well, Baker added.

While news of a new version of Marvel Vs. Capcom was highly anticipated leading up to Capcom's annual event last week (Baker said it was one of the questions most often asked of him and the hardest secret he's had to keep since working at the comic company), the presentation was light on details about which characters would make the cut for the game.

The gameplay-free trailer shows that Wolverine, the Hulk, Iron Man, Street Fighter's Ryu, Darkstalker's Morrigan and Resident Evil's Chris Redfield will be in the game. It also hints at the appearance of Captain America, Super Skrull, Chun-Li, Deadpool, Felicia, Dante or Nero, Spencer or Wesker, Mephisto, Rad Spencer and Doctor Doom. The inclusion of Redfield in the game is indicative of the direction the game's developers are headed in terms of Capcom character selection, Killian said.

While the game could certainly support any number of characters, Niitsuma said that time constraints led the team to shoot for a bit more than 30 characters in the game.

While downloadable content for the game, most likely new characters, is certainly possible, no DLC plans have yet been locked in, said Capcom's Seth Killian.

"There are a couple of different directions they're thinking about," he said.

And unlike previous Marvel Vs. Capcom games, this latest iteration will have a strong storyline.

"It's important that game's have strong stories for Marvel," Baker said. "With fighting games it's not as essential as an action game or role playing game but we are very much insisting there be some cohesive kind of story for this game.

"We actually have a subtitle for the game that means something this time. In the coming months we will be giving you more information about it."
