Capcom Marvel vs. Capcom 3

We don't know for sure, yet, but it's probably a good guess that it will be. Unless they decide to go with a control scheme like TVC, which was a little more basic and dumbed down from what I heard.
and it was dumbed down to accomadate the limitations of the Wii-mote. They will not go that route with this

Supposedly, when Capcom was making the deal with Activision to get Spidey aboard, they also asked for Green Goblin. Not 100% official, but I've heard it in multiple places.

If that's true, I REALLY hope they got him too!! :gg:

Can't find the article, to be honest I'm simply too lazy to look for it, but they said they simplified the controls to some degree. Like for example I think they'll only have one light, medium and strong attack. When you hit the enemy into the air, you can simply follow by immediately pressing up I think. Stuff like that. And they simplified the combos as well I think, so more people can pull them off.

oh thats simpifying the gameplay mechanics, not controls. TvC dumbed down the controls. No 6 buttons for various degrees of punch and kicks. Instead that only had 3 attack buttons for weak, medium and strong. You had to adjust how you played with characters as losing the distinction between punch/kick affected things. Combos were obviously lost as a result. It made for pulling special attacks off easier as there was less buttons to worry about, but still the controls were dumbed down in that. Thats why I said they will not go this route with MvC3. The control scheme will pretty much stay intact even if they do tweak some of the gameplay mechanics

Do the arcade stick peripherals really improve gameplay by a lot? I always find it's awkward to play these games with the controllers, which only have 4 face buttons, but I don't play them often enough to justify getting an arcade controller.

They do. And I would like to own a fightstick but I can't justify the purchase either. A good solution though is one of those fightpads that came out with SFIV. I bought one and it's definitely a lot better than a standard controller. I got noticeably better after I started using it.

I hate arcade sticks. I never got all the hoopla over them and find a controller much comfortable and easier to use

I haven't heard of this mythical "fightpad" beast. Must investigate...

It's more or less just a Saturn controller with six oversized face buttons and a nice d-pad.

It's the 6 face buttons for me. I just find it super-awkward to have 4 attacks on the face buttons and then 2 on the shoulder buttons. I'd much rather have all 6 of my attacks laid out right there next to the stick, just like in the arcade.

Oh, I'm not a fan of the d-pad. I would need a stick of some kind. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get a relatively cheap arcade stick and then try Street Fighter 4 and MvC 2 again to try and justify it for myself. Or maybe I'll just continue to skip fighting games altogether.

You play fighting games with a thumbstick? You cretin! :P

Oh ok, I can understand that. I honestly tend to primarily use the face button. For SSFIV for example, I had MP, MK, HP, HK mapped to the face buttons with R1 and R2 being PPP and KKK and L1 and L2 being Throw and Focus. Unfortunately, I tend to ignore LP and LK bc it isnt as intuitve to use the shoulder buttons for combos

Ya know, in regards to the Darkstalkers animation problems, they could just, I dunno, NOT have the DS transform during all their animations (they transform while walking, attacking, getting hit, standing idle) just for the sake of being in MvC3. I don't think anyone would honestly say "Jedah's wings don't morph as he jumps in the air in this game? WHY IS HE EVEN IN HERE, THEN?!!?"

Why can't Capcom just once show love to Gallon (Jon Talbain)? He'snever included in any crossover games (he couldn't even make it into Pocket Fighter!)!? I'm tired to death of Felicia's boring ass, and when Anakaris of ALL people gets a go in MvC2 over Demitri, Jedah, or Gallon, that really pisses me off!

Talbain doesn't even have any actual crazy-transforming-memoryhogging animations to his motions. There's no reason he can't make just ONE crossover appearance.

I would have preferred almost any darkstalker over Felicia.

Didn't someone say that supposedly Spidey won't be confirmed until sometime after Shattered Dimensions upon Activision's request or some reason?
