Capcom Marvel vs. Capcom 3

I'm really not all that concerned with how skill based they make, to be totally honest. I play stuff like Street Fight for the real deal, stuff like Smash Bros and MVC I play more for the fun and frantic feel of them.

Though, that being said, I will be kind of disappointed if it ends up being button mash-fest, but I really doubt it will be

Well, you like Tron Bonne too. :o

What can I say, I enjoy good characters :oldrazz:

Yay, I got beat two rounds in a row, basically just by assists. What a delight.

:wall:

Yes you can play MvC2 by button mashing but that doesnt mean you can win. Anyone who dismisses that game as a button masher needs to play it online. There are some really skilled players out there. I used to consider myself decent but find myself intimidated online bc I get killed nearly every time. I found SFIV more accessible as far as playing online. At least in that I could hold my own but I think a large part was bc it was overall balanced and there werent as many exploits and cheap tactics like MvC2 had

Yea i don't mind a few obscure characters. Superskrull is reeeeally obscure, but he'd have an awesome power set.

Same with Nova. It pains me to say it, but he is obscure too. But it's undeniable that he would be sick to play as.

Hey atleast, they're big players in the Cosmic comics. They're way more well known than Marrow & Shoma Gorath.

I'm bored...here's my wishlist...

CAPCOM
Ryu
Chun-Li
M. Bison
Chris Redfield
Wesker
Morrigan
Felicia
Jon Talbain
Phoenix Wright
Okami
Dante
X
Sigma
A Monster Hunter Character
Zack & Wiki

MARVEL
Ehhh...whoever. The Capcom side is more fun!

You're lack of Frank West disappoints me.

If I had my way, it would be mandatory that these franchises be represented
1. SF
2. Darkstalkers
3. Rival Schools
4. Megaman
5. Captain Commando
6. Devil May Cry
7. Resident Evil
8. Plasma Sword
9. Powerstone
10. Onimusha

I'd rather have Jill back with an improved Zombie/Monster moveset. But speaking of Resident Evil, with Tyrant and even Nemesis confirmed not to be in the game because they were visually supposedly too disgusting, how good do you think are the chances for Wesker to be in?

Apparently they wanted to use a couple Resident Evil characters. Chris is already in, Tyrant and Nemesis weren't allowed.

I suck at button-mashing. MvC2 is proof of that. I need my 3 buttons for punches and 3 buttons for kicks.

I hope I'll have better luck in Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
O you will... its so much more simple.... do you have a classic controller?

P.s. work on unlocking Tekkaman Blade..... is is badass :awesome:

I have also ordered a classic pad. That might take longer to arrive though. Is it still playable with the wiimote?

The game needs to be skill based. You shouldn't be able to win by just mashing buttons. If you aren't good at fighting games, i say tough. Not every one is good at everything.

Totally agree. I actually felt a little taken aback seeing so many people in this thread wanting the game dumbed down. Granted, the first MvC games never required a ton of skill or precision in the first place, but if you're unsatisfied with your own skill you should want to improve that, not wish the game be brought down to suit your own ineptitude.

Here's who I think should get the shaft that was in MVC 2

Amingo, Blackheart, Shuma-Gorath, Roll, Tron Bonne, Servbot, BB Hood, Anakaris, Dhalsim, SonSon, Zangief, Dan, Omega Red, Marrow, Rubyheart = All worthless. Sorry if you're fans of these guys.

War Machine, Charlie, Bone Claw Wolverine = Pointless when there's Guile(If he's in), Iron Man, and regular Wolverine.

Sabretooth = Too close to Wolverine.

Ken, Akuma, and Sakura = Unneeded. We have Ryu.

Venom = Spider-Man.

Jill = We got Chris now.

Hayato = Almost like a Strider clone.

Don't know about the rest.

He's already in TvC, and if we're only getting 15 Capcom characters, I'd rather see as many characters who haven't appeared in a VS. game as possible. Frank got his dues, so give me Zack & Wiki.

I hope the boss stage is cool... and not too easy to defeat

One of the silhouettes looks very much like Frank, so you may be out of luck on that.

And I think we'll be getting more than 15 characters per side. I heard that they want more characters than Super Street Fighter IV. That's around 36. So it could be 18 per side.

yea it is but if you can use a gamecube controller till you get the classic

Ken,Akuma and Sakura do not equal Ryu... especially Akuma..... they are all different in there own way.

Venom does not Equal Spider man... you have got to be kidding me with that comparison.. if anything Venom is the most abstract of the comparisons Venom because he has NOTHING that's similar to Spider Man moveset.

Ken/Akuma/Sakura all have moves similar to Ryu. They all throw fireballs. They all do uppercuts. They do a tornado whirlwind kick. With the limited roster there should be no clone or clone like characters.

And maybe the Spider-man/Venom comparision was a bit too much. But didn't they both have a web throw attack and a web swing attack? Because I would prefer if each character had moves that aren't similar to another.

What constitutes them being 'worthless' exactly? Most of those are actually kind of decent (though it's hard to distinguish when the top tiers are such a jump up in the power range in MVC2), and even if they aren't some can be fun to play if you know how to (Roll, for example). Interesting because you seem so opposed to 'clones' and characters that 'have similar movesets', but a good few of those would be perfect for variety in that manner, I think.

Is it solely because they aren't the popular, fanboy-approved choices? Or is it simply you don't care for the characters yourself?

Jill = We got Chris now.
Wuh?

No kidding. I thought I was ok at MVC 2, but playing online on it was the biggest lesson in fighting game humility I've ever had. There were players so perfectly using their partners that if I stopped blocking I was dead. There was this guy using Blackheart....I have never been owned so hard in a fighting game before. MVC 2 is more button mashy, and not as deep as SF IV, but I find the pros on MVC 2 that know how to use their partners right to be much harder to even scratch than the toughest ppl I faced on SF IV.

The latter. I don't really care for them. I specifically said who I think should get the shaft. And also apologized if you liked them.

This makes no sense whatever.

I don't see how Jill can be much different(gameplay wise) than Chris. The only other Resident Evil character I could see making an appearance now is Wesker. (bc he could be way different)

I agree. I've seen some very good Tron Bonne and Omega Red players online, and even when I used to play this in arcade(tho the arcade scene is completely dead here now). I think part of MVC's charm was in it's use of zany lesser known characters. Would I rather have Thor than Amigo? Sure, but that doesn't make Amigo worthless. I think the game wouldn't have half the charm or straight up awesome combo gameplay if we only had Spiderman's, and Ryu's.

Plus, I liked SonSon, lol. Nothing like someone throwing a fireball and walking on the ceiling to avoid it, then eating them, and finishing it off with a dance heh.

Okay, well I think 'worthless' gives the wrong impression. Personally, I don't give a crap about half of the roster for SFIV for example, but characters like Sagat and Dhalaism are far from worthless when they can be played incredibly well. Plus, it kind of sounds contradictory whenever you advocate variety so much, but then eliminate any value to characters that would give just that.

If you used the RE5 version she does a lot of kung fu action, so there's that. Though that version kind of sucks, but it'd be better than that ****** RE5 Wesker. Unfortunately, that looks like the thing we'll get

Maybe I should have said "all worthless to me".

They were considering Tyrant and Nemesis(I think), but for reasons wouldn't use them. To me, if you're going to have a hero from a game series, then you might as well throw in a villiain. too. That's why I think Wesker has a bigger chance than Jill.

Yeah, I liked SonSon a lot, too. Great character, had a lot of fun playing with her.

I agree about that being part of MVC2's charm, too. The fact that it was such a mix and mesh of characters both popular and unknown was something special. Unfortunately, we probably won't see that with this. Probably going to be a glorified wank for popular characters since the roster will be reduced. Oh well, I suppose

Well, technically Jill was a villain in RE5 for 3/4 of the game, but you're probably right. If they're throwing in a villain, it'll probably be Wesker and it'll probably the RE5 version. Oh well, maybe it'll get the Matrix fans who wouldn't be interested otherwise to notice

Okay so what's everyone's thoughts on alt costumes? Yay or nay?

I'm not talking like how they did SF4 (with multiple costumes for each character). I'm just thinking maybe one or two different (non-palette swap) costume for each.

Spider-man: Black suit and Scarlett
Iron Man: War Machine
Wolverine: Jeans/T-Shirt and Ultimate
Hulk: Rulk

That type of thing.

Opinions?
