Because he was pretty damn goofy. He punched an enormous boulder into a volcano. Kinda dumb. Chris Redfield will always be RE1/REmake Redfield to me.

Capcom has released the second official gameplay trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.
The trailer features Chun-Li, Hulk, Thor, Strider Hiryu, Hawkeye, Chris, Thor, and Ultron.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 19.

I'm playing RE5 with a buddy who's never played it before and his internet is down and we're about an hour before that scene. He has no clue what's going to happen and I seriously want to see his reaction.

new story and gameplay trailers look nice. but I want to see some more actual new characters, not just returning ones.

so far, the only true new characters are Captain Marvel, Ultron, Sigma, and Mega Man X if you can count him.

I dunno, getting Sigma and Mega Man X as playable characters is pretty cool. Ultron Sigma as the villain is also pretty neat.

We probably only know about half the characters now, so there are still more to announce.

Ehhh, its the same character. This isnt a Jill situation. Im sure they'll be a costume for RE1 Chris, just like the last game.

Unfortunately they didn't really change the model. He had his S.T.A.R.S. outfit in MvC3, but it was still roided out Chris. Only with slightly lighter skin and a shave.

Really wish that we'll get his RE:make design as an alternate.

I don't disagree with that.

but I see X as an alternate version of Mega Man.

Kind of like how if, instead of the classic 616 Wolverine, we got Ultimate Wolverine or Hugh Jackman movie Wolverine.

yeah, the Ultimate/movie Wolverine would technically be a new character, with a new look, new moves, and new play style vs the classic Wolverine. He would be different.

but to me, it's still Wolverine.

and from an excitement point of new, that wouldn't be as exciting as if they revealed a totally brand new character like Scarlet Witch or Magik.

I think a better comparison would be Mega Man is Spider-Man, and Mega Man X is Spider-Man 2099. They aren't simply alternate characters, but two distinctly different individuals, with similar but also different abilities.

Zero is probably too popular and too easy to bring over for them to not make him at least DLC.
