Ah. One run through everyone but Jack was loyal, and I didn't let her lead anything. Second time everyone was loyal. Both times I used squad mates that made sense...besides Miranda. Never really liked her. If it wasn't for the close up ass shots she'd be equal with Jacob as my least fave ME 2 character.

Miranda is like the best new character introduced in ME2. 3 is inferior by default bc it featured less Miranda

I can't understand you, please type in english. This is just a bunch of giberish. Miranda....best, those words together make no sense. Did you mean to type Mordin, Thane, Kasumi, Jack, or Grunt is one of the best?

Legion was, no doubt, the best new character in ME2. He made you totally change what you thought about the Geth, who were previously just cannon fodder for you to mow down.

All y'all not liking Miranda, them's fighting words. I may be biased since I'm infatuated with Yvonne but even I admit Miranda's far from the best female character or introduced character in ME2 but there's something about her that strike a chord with me, on the surface she seems like a Mary Sue but seeing my Shepard as he gradually help her step out from her cold shell, opening up to trust and respect was enjoyable, given the barrier of distrust she and Shepard had in the beginning. She could've been given more but the little amount she had wasn't bad for me and it's enough to escape from being label as a sex object despite being clearly envisioned as one. My two cents [BLACKOUT]which you all better accept!![/BLACKOUT].

I dunno. His cool factor wore off quickly for me. Maybe if he was introduced earlier. Plus, his stunt of uploading an allies ppl's weakness to the Geth, and his my way or a bullet in your brain attitude in 3 didn't make the Geth any better in my eyes. It just made the Quarians look worse. If they gave the Quarians their home back, and quit teaming up with more powerful tech to kill organics, I'd be happy to live, and let live.

As for Miranda, all joking aside, she put me to sleep. I wanted to like her. ME2 was my introduction to the series, and early on I was convinced she'd be my char's love interest. However her voice, constant talk about perfection (for and against), and her father just bored me. Only Jacob was more void of a solid personality. You don't have to be colorful to be entertaining, Zaeed showed that. It's just that every other crew member felt more...alive, and interesting. Miranda was just...there.

If you're referring to the ending, that's certainly part of it, but it's not specifically what I'm talking about. Mass Effect 3 has major problems in both story and gameplay that run deep throughout the entirety of the game.

Eh, not for me. It was my GotY.

Nope, most definetly Miranda by far

She may seem cold, hard and very stoic at first but thats all a front. She gradually sheds her layers and lets you in as the game goes on and her loyalty mission does alot to humanize her and shed light on why she is the way she is. She got some great character development over the course of the game and one of the most layered squadmate to be found in a more subtle, not so obvious way. I dig her story and her abilities made for a fantastic person to have around. Her biotic powers made her useful in a wide variety of situations and taking her on missions was a safe bet. All around, I didnt find anything wrong with her and overal thought she made for an amazing new addition

You know they were just defending themselves from the Quarians, right? There were rogue Geth that wanted to destroy organics but the Geth on Rannoch were fighting because they didn't want to die.

Jack's character arc is similar. I don't think subtlety is the right word for either of them though lol, it's very blatant that they're guarded because of how life has treated them, and that Shepard is able to break down those walls they've built.

Interesting article that I came across tonight which sums up why ME2 is my favorite of the franchise:

It is a great read. Helped me put my finger on a lot of feelings toward ME2 that I could not explain before.

Cool read, I agree that the pacing is great but the first game is still my favourite because of the overall story. The reveal that leads into the finale is one of the most memorable gaming moments I've ever had.

they take a subtle approach to portraying her personality. On the surface she seems very one dimensional. She isnt full of personality and expression like lets say Mordin. However she has tons of layers that you have to chip away at as they arent overtly apparent

Great read. I loved ME2 and I loved the pacing of the game. Collecting your teammates was one of the best part of the game, which they didnt really do in ME1 and 3. The tale seemed alot more personal especially since you developed real relationships with each of them during their loyalty missions and all the conversations between missions. The relationship between Shep and the squad just seemed to be handled better in that game. I liked that you had to seek them out and build up your team instead of merely just stumbling across them

WHAT! Its ironic bc those were my least favorites. The rest were all pretty solid. Kasumi, Miranda, Zaeed, Mordin, Jacob, Jack....I especially loved the first 3.

Agreed with everyone else, good read. It makes me hope that the next Mass Effect doesn't involve Reapers. I feel the same as the author that I liked the lack or urgency, and feeling of everyday life in the ME universe. It's an interesting setting, and mythos, and I like to explore in my RPG's.

If it wasn't for ME's choices altering the future system, I'd love a game where you play one of the first human's to step foot amongst the other races. When humans know little about everyone else, and everyone else treats humans like a child. Maybe being sent out to protect, and expand humanities interest, while balancing an early delicate galactic diplomacy. Rather than saving the universe. It'd be fun to see the early days of things like Batarians starting angst towards humans.

Vice versa, I'd equally like a far jump into the future. With no ME drives, humans stuck off world, and so many other races stuck on Earth. It could be like starting fresh. Seperated for so long, races are finally reintroduced. You could play a human who grew up off world making his way back to Earth to find out it's fate after the war.

The only ones I didn't really care about, not hate, just whatever, were Miranda, Ashley, Jacob and Zaeed. Everyone else had those quirks I just found interesting.

My good guy run almost always featured Garrus, and Tali. I'd pepper in Mordin, and Kasumi for dialogue variety. My Renegade run was Jack, and either Zaeed, Mordin, or Grunt. In 3 I'd occasionally put Liara in both groups. I kind of liked the theme of my characters girl, and best friend being by his side. My Renegade run changing best friend for guard dog.

I always switched up my squad. I rarely just stuck with the same characters from mission to mission. I liked a bit of variety

I tried to switch it up, but it was hard for me not to stick with Tali and Garrus.

Tali and Garrus were always my end game squad.

I did try and switch it up to who I thought would reflect the mission the best. Mordin for science or Genophage related things, Grunt/Vega for military engagements, EDI/Tali for tech orientated missions, Miranda for Cerberus focused missions, Garrus tended to come on the major plot heavy missions - that sort of thing.

I would have loved to have different squad members for every mission to fully take advantage of the versatility and variety but for ME2 Insanity especially I needed Miranda in my squad. The ME1 ally achievements really restricted choosing squadmates on the fly, which is probably the opposite of the what they actually wanted.

I still have to get that Liara achievement in 1, it is literally the last achievement I don't have unlocked for the entire ME series. I keep telling myself I'll do it but I keep putting it off.

It's actually almost a bit stressful when you get towards the end of the game and running out of sidequests and it's still not unlocking. I had a lot of trouble with Wrex for some reason.

Just played a bit of 1. It takes some getting used to, the aiming feels off. Also realising how off I was on the timeline. Starting from 2, I just always figured humanity had been mingling with other races for a few hundred years. I didn't realize Shepard was alive (as a baby) during the first contact war. So I take back my talk of a ME game set when humans first make contact as that's just 30 years or so before ME 1.
