Mass Effect 3 - - - - - Part 14

Very sad news indeed. No one else can voice him :(

Here's a really great tribute to the series, I just found.

So they should be unveiling the last of the DLC this week or the next if they keep to their Mid-Feb time frame.

Also I recently got the N7 Destroyer, slapped the Typhoon on him and activated both offensive modes.

Bearded Greg Zeschuk on The Beer Diaries

BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk recently quit the video game industry, and Miri caught up with him to learn about his new labor of love, a web series known as The Beer Diaries.

I kind of wanted to get the Metal Gear Risk game, even though I've never played Risk and no one I know is into board games.

I would definitely buy a Mario risk game if anyone wants to make one of those. Just sayin'.

I want to unbox that and see what they've done with it.

I think next week's gonna be a good news week! :woot:

I finished ME2 the other day with my 'ruthless' character, tear assing through each game and avoiding as much side stuff as possible. This Shepard is totally mission focused, achieve the goal at any cost. Two things:

1. On my first playthrough with a (much) more heroic Shepard I didn't lose a single person on the final mission. This time around I lost about half the team, and it seemed like a much more 'real' ending to me. The 'everyone survives' ending is satisfying in the same way everything works out at the end of a Disney movie, but losing the crew, Jack, Kasumi, Tali, etc, it held it's own gritty satisfaction. Much more 'war' than 'sci adventure'.

2. On completing the final mission I still had Jacob's personal mission to do. At the end of the mission, while talking to him aboard the Normandy, Miranda wanders in as part of the cut-scene. The problem was, Miranda had previously died on the suicide mission. Ghost Miranda!

So now I'm on to ME3 and I'm enjoying it, although it's nowhere near as good as 1 and 2. The lack of dialogue options is stupidly noticeable, especially considering how much of a key feature it was to it's predecessors. The combat is fine, though not really any better than ME2. I've download the free extended ending thing this time around, so I'm keen to see that.

I just hope that whatever they do for the next Mass Effect series, they don't totally lose their nerve come the final game.

That actually happens throughout the suicide mission as well, so even if you rig it where Miranda is one of the first to die, she'll pop back in later for her dialogue. Quite funny. :hehe:

Yeah I think my 1st playthrough where I lost a couple of guys feels like 'what really happened' and then we go back in time to 'fix' the situation Disney style lol. Whoever died in that 1st run is who really died to me and I kind of would like the game to force me to use that playthrough instead. :woot:

On the last point I think they might have taken enough stick by now to get the point!

I picked up the trilogy and have played through the first game and started on Mass Effect 2. I gotta say I can't believe I decided to let this series go by me when each individual game was being released. I now know why it is so popular and has all the awards. Hope that movie happens someday cause if any game could support one it's a game with a universe as rich as this one. Tali is my favorite character and she is definity going to be my romance. :D

On my first playthrough of ME1 Wrex died on me and for ME2 it was Mordin.

... I had rough first playthroughs. :csad:

Same here, I didn't play the trilogy till after Mass Effect 3 was out. It's now my joint favourite game series!

[BLACKOUT]Some character's ME3 deaths were too good to have them wasted on ME2. What happens if Mordin is already dead at the time of his ME3 death?[/BLACKOUT]

The Salarian STG guy Padok Wiks takes his place on the mission. I've been told he's actually a pretty interesting character.

The more important Mordin-related variable is if you saved Maleon's genophage cure or not.

[BLACKOUT]Thanks, probably good also but I doubt it could match Mordin's ME3 death on top of the history of having had him around as a regular squad mate through ME2. Anyone who didn't experience this ending or Thane's in ME3 needs to do a new playthrough![/BLACKOUT]

I sure hope so. Only time will tell. Still, they deserve all the flack they get for that rubbish ending :D

This is probably the nastiest death that most people haven't seen:

This is the death I'm dreading when I eventually get around to my Renegade run though.

Oddly enough
I do think Thane's death should be seen, and is important. On my first run I got it. On my second playthrough I saved Kirahhe, and he took Thane's place. However Thane still ended up dead on the wall of names, and I missed out on a kick ass fight scene, and an emotional father, son, and Shep moment. Kirahhe didn't survive my Renegade run though, so I'll get to see it again.

Ironically I had gotten so many of my team killed on my Renegade/Worst Outcomes Possible playthrough that by the time I got to 3 it wasn't nearly as gut wrenching as Mordin/Wrex and Tali were already dead.
