Mass Effect 3 - - - - - Part 14

I just read that if you want the ME2 characters to show up in the DLC that you need to do all of their main game content first: the example they gave was Jack - doing her side quest and then doing her conversation in Purgatory.

They also said that some content will unlock as you go. I am guessing this means to use Jack again, if you did the DLC before talking to her in Purgatory she wouldn't show up in the "main quest" of the DLC but if you talked to her afterwards she'd be available for interaction if you were to go back to the DLC hub.

So in order to get Miranda, I have to be ready to assault Chronos Station? I mean, that makes a certain amount of sense for the characters, but right as you're about to end the game is the worst place to put this "hang out with old friends" segment.

Yeah that's odd. Like you said I get why. I mean its just Miranda who wraps up very late game... But I really want the whole gang to be there.

Hmmm, I was planning to slot this right before Leviathan and Thessia. I'll just have to "headcanon" that Hackett is readying the fleet and is ordering Shepard to stand down in the mean time and hope that fits with everything more or less. Its not a perfect solution but it'll have to do for the time being.

They added a FAQ in one of the announcement threads that covered pretty much what I posted.

Here:

When Can I Play the Citadel DLC?
You can play the Citadel DLC any time after stopping the Cerberus coup attempt on the Citadel and before beginning your attack on Cronos Station. (Note, I had previously said London, but was mistaken).

Will (CHARACTER NAME) be present in the DLC?
We would prefer not to spoil which characters will be present, or in what context, beyond what we’ve said: the DLC offers a chance to adventure with your ME3 squad, along with Urdnot Wrex, and to connect with old friends, including romances.

Will (CHARACTER NAME) be present only after a certain mission?
After completing the adventure portion of the Citadel DLC, you will have the chance to reconnect with old friends. Your friends will only appear once you have completed their content from the main game. For example, you will only be able to meet up with Jack after both completing Grissom Academy and talking to Jack in the bar at Purgatory.

Should I Have Everything Else in the Game Done Before Playing Citadel?
There is no right or wrong time to play the Citadel DLC, once it’s unlocked. If you play the Citadel DLC with everything else unlocked (just before attacking Cronos Station), the new DLC content will all be unlocked. If you play the Citadel DLC right after stopping the Cerberus coup attempt, the DLC content will unlock naturally over the course of the main game.

Will Wrex be a permanent squadmate or just for that mission?

Just beat Arrival and Lair of the Shadow Broker. The chase scene in Shadow Broker had me saying Attack of the Clones the whole time. :D

Anyone feel the dlc with Liara was aimed at people that romanced her? I mean she brought up my relationship with Tali and it's almost like Bioware was wanting you to feel guilty for not falling for her. They hit you with the sad like music and then Shepard says to himself ''I hope you come back soon'' or something like that. I realize they are friends but the whole scene made me feel like Bioware was trying to make it seem Liara is the one for Shepard. But I have heard before that people think Liara is Bioware's favorite LI.

Anyway I think I will start Mass Effect 3 soon. I would like to be up and ready for this Citadel dlc which sounds like it will be the best you are going to get as to actually dating your LI.

The whole damn series is aimed at Liara as a love interest. Even though Bioware denies it, she clearly is the canon love interest. Which sucks.

Prior to Shadowbroker the Liara fans had been *****ing for the better part of a year about how Bioware hated them and Liara so I suspect there was some over compensation there.

Its not that bad in 3 honestly. They walk the friendship line a lot better.

Except that in ME3 almost every other romance sucks except Liara. I agree that they clearly intended her to be the canon LI and it shows.

But, I also loved just her friendship aspect. My Shep romanced her in ME1 but didn't reconcile in ME2, so I found their relationship in ME3 to really be something special and layered, personally.

But I'd still better get some extended chat time with Miranda with this new DLC!

I thought Ashley/Kaidan was the canon romance when I was 1st playing through it.

I id too, until the Virmire Survivor got back to the Normandy in ME3--and had next to no conversational cutscenes. I didn't have a problem with Liara flagging down covert messages from Asari high command and checking up on me at first, but it felt awkward after you've reconnected with your LI and T'soni keeps knocking on the door.

Eh, whatever. Liara didn't ruin the game by any means, and we'll see how this DLC addresses LOI stuff.

Having actually done the Liara romance I think a lot of people are making guesses as to what it actually entails or how much it actually comes up in comparison to the other primary romances. Its nowhere near as all encompassing as people are making it sound. Especially, in regards to the Tali romance which he's doing.

A lot of the door knockings in the first half of the game to use Navigator's example are not romance opportunities even when she is your LI, its just that the game knows she is alive so it ends up giving her expository dialogue and the like. I don't think she even visits again after the [blackout] Coup [/blackout].

I find Shepard's friendship with Liara to be far more satisfying than a romance. Romance cheapens their bond. It breaks it down to the most base denominator. It, IMO, undermines Liara as a character and breaks her down to someone who is just driven by her need for her man. I prefer the two as friends and find it far more rewarding that way. When they are friends, their dialogue is just as rewarding and it shows a bond stronger than romantic love.

^ I feel the same.

She visits your room, which is more than can be said for Miranda. Dammit I just hate that Miranda was short changed lol.

That's a totally fair point.

The Miranda, Jack and Jacob people definitely deserved more than they got.

I do wish there was more Jack in Mass Effect 3, but I really enjoyed the little bit they put in the game.

The way the Mass Effect 2 characters got shortchanged (among other things) makes it feel like the game was rushed. I think the next generation hardware would have really benefited Mass Effect 3 significantly. Oh well.

they made clear that their out look/ focus was more on the war. Though they could have treated the involvement of those characters doing their parts to help fight in it better.

The ME2 characters getting shortchanged was Bioware trying to pander to anyone who had characters die in ME2. I think they should have been more harsh and punished anyone who was a bad Commander by having ME2 characters as squadmates. Hell, Kirahe should have been a squad member so that even the tiniest decisions would have counted

this was just put up

PSA: Mass Effect 3 Reckoning DLC out today, here's what it entails

Mass Effect 3'sReckoning multiplayer DLC pack is live today, bringing six new characters, seven new weapons, two weapons mods and four fresh accessories, all for free.

BioWare showed off Reckoning in a livestream yesterday and a NeoGAF user collected the details: The new characters are a Geth Juggernaut, a female biotic Turian, an Alliance Infiltration Unit, Krogan Warlord Sentinel, a human mercenary with a tech bow and a Collector Adept. Weapons include a venom shotgun, a high-powered Blood Pack Executioner Pistol and a Blood Pack Punisher SMG, and the mods are pistol and SMG power amplifiers.

Reckoning is the final Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC pack. Citadel, the final round of singleplayer DLC, hits on March 5 ($15/1200 MSP) and will give players the "opportunity to reconnect with some of their favorite characters from all three of the Mass Effect games."

also there's a live feed happening on the top right called "New DLC day" in that twitch link which high lite "live stream". sorry nothing on single player part yet and it's likely better that way for those that don't want to be spoiled . well not too much anyway.

If anything I'm holding out hope for a Jack/Miranda reunion in Citadel and I expect it to be expletive laden and to be glorious.

I saw the Geth Juggernaut in play and it looks amazing. The melee stuns enemies and then drains their shields to replenish your own.

I think they've done a really great job with the MP classes and experimenting with some mechanics. I hope when ME4 rolls around they stray away from our current 6 classes and take what they've learned from the MP classes and flesh that out: stuff like melee classes, consumable abilities, support abilities and the like were very welcome addition.
