Mass Effect 3

Am I alone in thinking the ME2 character romance were kinda lame? It seems like you get really great scenes if you romance anyone from ME1, but anyone from ME2 and you get almost nothing.

I kept up my relationship with Miranda and I thought it was such a letdown.

Really? I was quite pleased with my Tali romance. The time on the [BLACKOUT]Geth destroyer[/BLACKOUT] flirting back and forth; the heart to heart on [BLACKOUT]Rannoch[/BLACKOUT], the last levels. All was done quite well to justify my choice in her as a romantic interest.

I feel bad for whoever chose [BLACKOUT]Jacob.[/BLACKOUT] Kinda ripped out from under you with that one.

Sorry, I meant any character that was exclusive to ME2 (ie: Jack, Thane, Jacob, Miranda). If you romanced any of those and chose to keep that romance, you're pretty much left in the dust for most of ME3. It kinda sucks.

Ah. I could see that. But I think it adds to the bittersweet feeling of the game.

Plus, [BLACKOUT]Thane went out like a boss![/BLACKOUT]

But yeah, I could agree the there is a bit of a disparity between the allotted screen time the various characters receive.

About the ending

One of the things that really bugs me is that we spent all this time gathering forces, just to see...well, nothing really. I want to see the Krogan riding in on the cloned dinosaurs I got for the Salarians. I want to see STG and Asari Commandos back to back, gunning anything coming to them. I want to see my squad members rallying the Rachni into place. Why don't we get this?

This guy on the BSN has a great idea for another choice at the end, which does in fact utilize how much recruiting you have actually done. While the beginning is alright, this is where he got me

*The battle that follows is the epic conclusion, as Shepard watches, broken and bleeding, as everything he has put into this unified force throws itself at the Reapers. This is where all those decisions come to fruition. We want to see those War Assets fighting. The Destiny Ascension obliterating a Reaper with it's main gun before being swarmed over by Destroyers, the Geth armada pulling along side to save her. The Salarian STG calling in a biotic artillery strike on cluster of Reaper troops. Wrex and Garrus, on the front sharing a stern moment in cover, before nodding to each other, brothers in arms, before charging over the barricade. Back to back, they face down hordes of husks, Wrex shouting defiantly, "You think you can take our future!? You think YOU CAN TAKE MY CHILDREN?!"
We want to see the Quarian flotilla scrambling, all guns blazing, trying desperately to form a battleline, as one of the admirals quietly turns to their crew, signalling his ship all ahead full. "For the homeworld. Keela..." their words cut off as the live-ship rams a Reaper, exploding spectacularly and damaging two others. We want to see the Normandy frantically weaving through the wreckage, Joker and EDI yelling warnings to one another as the fleets explode around them. We want Tali leading a charge of Geth Primes against a Cannibal gun line. Rachni drones swarming over a Reaper Destroyer by the thousands, pulling it apart from the inside. We want to see Grunt wrestle a brute to the ground and unload his shotgun into his head.

Happy or sad, we just want to see those decisions play out. We want to see that what we did mattered. And as the battle unfolds, you are left with the Choice. Do you think you have enough? As Shepard bleeds out, watching all he/she loved go up in flames, do you take the risk? Provided you have enough manpower, can you break the back of the Reaper fleet, though at horrendous cost?

That part in bold? Oh man, how insane.

Sorry, but that just makes the hair on my arms stick up. It would be an amazing sight to see. Thanks Bioware, for giving us a great game, but it could have been alot better.

you know what would be some bad ass multiplayer DLC... regardless of what happened in your playthrough... but have MP missions, or just as it is, and get to use people from sheps squad. no shepard at all. would be pretty badass to have you and your friends playing as Wrex, Javik, Mordin, whoever. if it was mission based, you could have convos with eachother just like the cutscenes in SP where you can choose renegade, have disagreements etc.

Well, it was kinda like that with your romance from ME1 to ME2.

Since they pretty much took away most of our romance partners from 2...makes sense.

Don't know how it is for FemShep's though.

Agreed on all counts.
Bioware definitely should've included cutscenes like the final battle in ME2 where you actually see your squad and what they're doing while you're off battling the Collectors.

For them to not give ANY insight as to what your squad is doing during the final battle is a joke in itself. It just seems so rushed and unfinished. Any and all of those ideas you posted would've been a welcome addition.

Yeah, and it was lame in ME2 as well lol. Not saying I don't understand why it happened, but that doesn't mean they could've not made the game that way. There's not even an emotional goodbye if you romanced people from ME2...just some video conference. I just thought it was a letdown after investing in those relationships.

But what about Conrad Verner, the most loyal and courageous crew member of your whole squad?

As long as my man Garrus is with me till the end, I'll be all right. All the other characters are expendable.

Ha, same here. I romanced Liara in 1, Tali in 2 and 3, but my bromance with Garrus? Best thing from the series.

Of the ME2 romances:

The Tali/Garrus romances were perfect.

The Thane/Jack ones looked okay and the rest seemed weaker.

I haven't had much time with Jack. The only time she's been in the game so far was the Grissom Academy mission (I certainly hope that's not Jack's only appearance...), but I think Bioware did a lot with a little there. It wasn't a very long mission, but between the shooting there was some good dialogue between Jack and Shepard, she smooched him pretty hard a couple of times (met with cheers from her students), and she revealed she got an N7 tattooed on her ass. I don't know about the other ME2 squaddies, but so far I'm pleased with the Jack romance in Mass Effect 3, but I'll take that back if that was it for the entire game.

Ha, I totally forgot about Conrad Verner. When will he appear in the game?

Seriously, Garrus is the only real option when it comes to the much-needed "bro" in the Mass Effect universe.

You'll see her again.

He's on the refugee level of the Citadel. I believe he shows up after completing the
Cerberus invasion of the Citadel

Oh god...[BLACKOUT]Mordin[/BLACKOUT].

I know it had to be you, buddy. :[

All of this would have been good.

See...

ME3 has almost no consequences for NOT doing your War Asset recruiting. As long as you hit the "minimum" bar, you get the same three outcomes as everyone else.

I killed the Rachni queen in ME1 and it legitimately never affected my story. I just got to see a big ugly black bug instead.

And yeah, the Squadmates legit just disappearing on you (and apparently winding up back on the Normandy even after they were part of the death charge at the Citadel beam) was pretty weak. All we needed was a cutscene.

From what I heard if you spare the Reaper Rachni Queen she actually betrays you and lowers your war assets. Which kind of amuses me.

Not quite. If you freed her in ME1 and side with her in ME3, she is trustworthy. If you let her die in ME1, a new queen comes in ME3, and if you side with her in ME3, she will betray you.

I really didn't mind the ending.
