Mass Effect 3

I just Booted up my me3 and was met with an patch, hopefully they fixed some of the bugs/glitches

Yeah, hopefully. There have been some weird glitches in the game. Just stuff I haven't experienced in ME1 or ME2. Like, for example, after the Citadel stuff...was the first time that I was notified of my Map being updated, and of the Spectre Terminal being updated. Possible targets of side-fetch quests are also highlighted from a farther distance.

Those all would have been pretty helpful for the first 15 or 20 hours. I'm guessing those were glitches? That and Shepard walking through solid objects. Like tables.

Weird stuff that is a first for me with a Mass Effect game. I wonder if them putting focus on multiplayer had anything to do with it?

For YOU it's not ambiguous, but being that there are massive debates going on in Mass Effect forums throughout the 'net, I'm going to have to go ahead and say yeah, the ending remains completely debatable.

And yes, when you spend 3 games telling the stories of these characters, people want to know what happens. "Ah well they landed on some planet somewhere and, well, that was it." is not an ending. It's a "we don't have an ending, here's an escape route."

And lets be real - you only get the "Perfect" ending with an insane amount of time invested and nearly some very specific choices. And it cuts to a guy in wreckage suddenly coming back to life. IT'S SHEPARD.

What does it ultimately mean? Who knows. But there's no doubt it's the Commander. They wouldn't bury an easter egg about some completely nameless N7.

You're a walking contradiction. You claim how uncertain everything is, then state perhaps the most ambiguous part as absolute fact. :oldrazz:

Hmm....I can see why some would buy it. It's interesting. I don't buy into it...but I can see why one would.

I think it might seem like a bit of a cop-out at first, but IMO it's a much better solution than the muddled ending we have now. It would also fit perfectly with the Mass Effect storyline and it makes sense out of all the gaping plotholes Bioware has left.

Would it piss some people off? Probably. But I've never seen a fanbase so enraged about a beloved game before.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see what Bioware does as a result. I'm eager to hear from them one way or another.

But if that is the case, then there is effectively no ending to the game which is a far more egregious sin than anything on the disc.

I'd say that is the least ambiguous part of the ending.

Not really.

[blackout]If it is Shepard, then it means that none of what we saw really happened making it completely ambiguous. We literally had just seen Shepard get consumed by flames and explosion in the middle of space, only to wake up on Earth. Think of the implications.[/blackout]

We haven't heard much about the Mass Effect anime since it was announced last year, but now some new information is coming out of the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

Ha, and the fact that the [BLACKOUT]model used for the child is just a miniature version of the Stargazer himself? Just laziness all around on Bioware's part, especially since they had a model made for a child (the boy) already. [/BLACKOUT]
I've felt there were a couple places Bioware might be construed as lazy, that being one of them. Another major one is
the picture of Tali if you romanced her. People pointed out that it's a (very) slightly doctored stock photo from Getty pretty quickly. Which I'm actually fine with; my problem with the photo is that it makes Tali a very human-looking white woman. Really? She's arguably one of the most "alien" characters in the game, and it turns out she's actually just another attractive white lady under that helmet?

We're gonna get DLC that expands on the ending. I figured the ending ending like it did pretty much said that itself.

It's obvious that's the case to me anyway bens

yeah corp the fingers and toes on tali are miss leading. maybe the suit was designed that way but that must have been pain those digits for a while.

I didn't say that it mean Shepard was actually alive, I said that hey, it's Shepard. I honestly have no idea what it means or why it was written into one specific ending (Destruction) and given very specific requirements before playing.

And you're the one that's calling the ending not as ambiguous as folks are making it out to be... and then offer what you even admit is your own take.

I honestly still haven't decided my final stance on how the series has ended (for now?), but I do know I'm not happy with the fact that the ending was so muddled that there's a growing contingent of people that think Shepard was indoctrinated. And they actually have some legitimate arguing points. This is a blockbuster sci-fi action game, not Inception... :csad:

btw chief I'm fallowing your lead on my play through s I want my galactic readiness high so I can get the best out come I'm still gonna be holding back a bit on the ending just to see what comes in dlc wise. but I feel it's the best play for me, to do.

 I played this game like Pokemon when it came to War Assets. Mostly coz the music was so rewarding hahah.

[blackout]There would be people saying that kind of stuff no matter what the ending is. The ending could've been Shepard walking right onto the Citadel with no injuries, killing the Illusive Man, turning the Crucible into some Death Star-esque weapon, shooting every damn Reaper out of the sky, returning to Earth in tact and safe, going to his quarters on the Normandy and banging the **** out of Ashley and people would be coming up with a hundred and one theories regarding the end. Such is just the nature of a franchise like this.[/blackout]

I finally understood why people hated James when I actually played the game. Guy's annoying as hell, plus there's like no connection between him and Shepard whatsoever. He just sort of ends up on the Normandy. I was looking forward to some kind of backstory being revealed where the disgraced Shep sort of became James' mentor/cautionary tale during his grounding, but no, it turns out James was just some guy who showed up to bring Shep to that meeting at the beginning. That was a bit disappointing.

But now that I know he'll be featured in the anime, I'm hopeful that they'll flesh his character out. It'd feel kind of wrong to feature Shepard in the anime without a means for us to control him, too. (Although I would've totally taken a Jack or Garrus anime before a James one, but that's neither here nor there.)

The patch I'm referring to just went live, I've had the game since launch so this is a new patch

Wow I really need to play the ME series. This ending seems to have really sent the gaming world into a freaking spiral of theories that puts almost any other series of any other genre to shame.

Usually if an ending causes this much discussion it must have done something right.

The Getty Image fiasco is the least of my concerns. Its a stock photo. That is what its used for. I just see that situation as Bioware wasn't going to put Tali into the game, but pressure from the top forced them to at the last minute, so they grabbed a stock photo. I'm not upset with that, actually.

Not really.

Is that any more ambiguous than an ending that shows troops on Earth cheering for the Reapers destruction, all while the Citadel explodes (which, according to Arrival, means that the Local Cluster should explode as well)? If Shepard lived at the end of ME3, I can only take that as him waking up from his indoctrination, right before the beam.

Either way, it could even be used for an "alternate ending", like films have. Just have Shepard save the day and live. It doesn't need to be canon, just a separate take.

Yet there are tons of endings, written by FANS, that tons of people find way more acceptable. Such as this one posted earlier:

I got chills just reading it.

I disagree about James. I was upset with Bioware for putting a new character in the game, let alone one that seemed so cliche. That said, when I started to get further into his character? Man, he isn't that bad. The N7 subplot with him is pretty great.

I'm not upset about the stock photo part either. I just wish they'd given her scales or made her purple or something. The game's got enough attractive white ladies as it is, especially if you count EDI (whose body was initially an attractive white lady).

No Vega hate here, I feel he was fleshed out if you take the time to talk to him, dude has some funny jokes too, he's not boring like Kaiden

Vega was recruited by Anderson to escort Shepard, that's how they know each other hahah. I think there's a comic coming out to flesh out his back story too.
