I wouldn't say the free part guarantees it's fake. Unlikely? Sure. But it's not like devs literally never release DLC for free. Heck, even EA released Dead Space 2 DLC for free...even though it was only multiplayer content.
Not saying I believe it, either. Just sayin'.

What would a free "Truth" ending do anyway other than inform the public that they(Bioware) were wrong? I'm sorry I don't see any creative personality going back on their work because whiney gamers feel they should. I see it being more along the lines of, 'fine, you want a new ending we'll give ya one, but you're going to have to pay for it'.
No way in hell is any "true" ending going to be free.

Good Lord, man...why is it so hard to comprehend that Bioware might've planned something like this all along? In which case, it wouldn't be "informing the public that they were wrong" whatsoever.

Mass Effect 3 Director Didn’t Want You To Forget The Game’s EndingYesss, ignore the truth! Which is what the now-rumoured DLC is titled.

And I'm assuming 1000 more since you pointed that out.![]()

Cool. I'll take it.. Or buy it.. But I'm also not complaining about the current ending either.
I expected post ending DLC. That's actually my preference DLC. See Dragon Age and F3.
they will release a DLC that will reveal that the entire ME story is nothing but a hallucination..........of the Grey Warden from Dragon Age: Origins!!
That DLC better be free. Because they released a half assed incomplete game
You're taking it to extremes. The game isn't half ass.. And clocking in at 40+ hours isn't incomplete.
Just because the endings get you all riled up doesn't mean it's "incomplete".
Go play that recently X-Men game... Then come back and talk about things being incomplete.
Who the hell DELIBERATELY holds out the true information? This isn't a weapons pack or something, this is the ending to the series. You whine about the bad endings but you dont have a problem with them withholding the "true" ending to release as DLC later? Im sorry, thats just stupid.
I mean maybe you are right, this was planned from the start, but like Soapy stated, thats beyond scummy and is setting a dangerous precedent moving forward.

This is what matters most to me and I'm glad you included it...I'm not bothered by people's opinions whatsoever, if you like the end or don't like the end that's fine; if you think Bioware would be stupid for faking the ending or if you think it's a great idea, that's fine. But until Bioware releases a statement, none of us know for sure. That's all I'm saying, and that it seems overly dismissive to just say "Well they wouldn't do THAT because it'd be dumb!"
Also not saying I completely agree with it. Like you and Soapy, I think it could either come off as a dastardly move and a new low in gaming OR a brilliant achievement in immersive storytelling. It's a fine line between the two, and depending on how Bioware approaches it (if it ends up being true) it could go either way IMO.
Like many, I'd just like some kind of answer. Even if it's "This is it, guys." At least then people could just get over it and move on.
It sounds like, if this "Truth" DLC is real, Bioware was upset over the leak in November, and when they changed the ending, they realized that they didn't have enough time to finish it by March. Rather than delay it again, they finished what they could, knowing they could/would release the next part of the ending via DLC (possibly free). I don't have a major problem with this, taking into account that it is well known that they changed the entire ending after the leak.
I figured out how the "War Asset System" works and why you and everyone that is mad about not getting to see all you options in a cut scene need to get over it!
The War Asset System and what cut scenes (not talking about the main thre...e cut scenes) you get goes by what ME2 option you picked when it came to either saving the Collector Base or destroying it. Now for all options you pick and do in ME3 goes into a set of numbers which helps your "War Asset" and which cut scenes you get before the final three option cut scenes. For me my War Asset number was 6000+; but all you need was 5000+... and the reason Bioware add that extra 1000+ was for people that didn't play ME 2 cause those ppl wouldn't have the DLC and characters from ME 2 that I saved and did which would add to my war asset numbers!
But here is as follows how the number system and cut scenes added up:
Collectors Base Saved:
Readiness Rating < 1750 Earth is destroyed regardless of whatever decisions you made.
Readiness Rating 1750 Choose to Save the Reapers and the Earth will be saved.
Readiness Rating 2050 Choose to become a Reap...er and the Earth will be saved.
Readiness Rating 2350 Choose to destroy the Reapers and Earth is destroyed.
Readiness Rating 2650 Choose to destroy the Repears and the Earth will be somewhat destroyed
Readiness Rating 2800 Earth and the Galaxy will be saved once youre able to create synergy
Readiness Rating 4000 Choose to destroy the Reapers and Save Anderson to see Shepard lives.
Readiness Rating 5000 Choose to destroy the reapers and not Save Anderson to see Shepard lives.
Collectors Base Destroyed in ME2
Readiness Rating < 1750 Earth is destroyed regardless of whatever decisions you made.
Readiness Rating 1750 Choose to become a Reaper and the Earth will be destroyed.
Readiness Rating 1900 Choose to ...destroy the Repears and the Earth will be somewhat -destroyed
Readiness Rating 2350 Choose to become a Reaper and the Earth will be saved.
Readiness Rating 2650 Choose to destroy the Reapers and Earth will be saved.
The programmers may very well been able to give you a cut scene to every option you did in ME3 but lets be real here, the mathematical equations would have been nuts!
So stop being mad about this part just because you found something on a planet you scanned and it didn't show up in a cut scene.
