For all we know, Matt Reeves' "The Batman" will be one of these Dark-Label, one-off DC movies, ala "Joker", that has nothing to do with anything else. And I would be all for it. It seems pretty clear to me that Gadot's Wonder Woman and Mamoa's Aquaman have been cast off into their own little universes, while Affleck's Batman, and Cavill's Superman (sigh) have reached the end of their respective lines.

That brings the door open for the Joaquin Joker cross over then though, =P

I know it could be Elseworld etc, but Marvel showed the way with a 10 year plan with team up and cross over films, DC can certainly go crazy with multiverse or Elseworld cross overs etc, it's their properties, they can make anything they want, as long as the contracts are in place.

IMHO Reeves movies will be ambiguous on whether it's a prequel or not, just it's own thing, you can take it both ways, but one day that Batman will team up with Gal and Jason, Zach down the line....with a new Sup, as well as GL, Harley, Batgirl/Supergirl etc....recasting didn't stop Marvel from continuing with their plan.

DC just need to stay creative and use their aces wisely, and have quality control.

I never understand this sort of wish fulfillment, or why anyone would want to see The Batman on screen with Shazam, let alone any other super-powered beings, to be honest. Batman works best alone, in his own universe. If you expect Reeves' Batman to team up with these characters, prepare for disappointment, because I'm pretty sure his negotiations to do the film hinged on him not having to adhere to any previously-established story-lines, or casting decisions. He wants to create his own Batman world.

Of course not. Lex Luthor is Superman's arch enemy, and the fact that a human can match himself up against a super-powered being is what makes that conflict interesting. I never said anything about Superman ... man.

I think that's also what makes batman being in the justice league great. Hes only human and he may be there to keep them honest as well.

If the film is good and successful, I hope Reeves continues with it wheather it's a prequel or elseworld's stand alone series. He's done a great trilogy before.

I don't mind a black label film like Joker but I do hope this is a prequel or just the result of a new timeline caused by Wonder Woman 2

Pre Affleck I wanted Jon Hamm as Batman and Willem Dafoe as Joker. It would've been the most comic accurate casting ever. Those two should've been the DCEU Batman and Joker.
