i dont even care. I have zero attachment to him as the director. His previous films were enjoyable to me but never sold me on him having the ability to make a transcendent Batman movie. He’s been on the scene for a while too so he’s had plenty of time to prove himself. I think he’s good, not great. Nolan is a modern great.Maybe Reeves is about to drop out.
Reeves isn't Nolan for sure. But he made a transcendent (for me, at least) giant monster movie. Probably with substantial involvement of JJA. Which remains one my top 10 flicks and theatrical experiences of all time even 10 years later. I wasn't enamored by any of his other films, because I didn't really like what they were about. I don't like apes and I don't like Let Me In misery. It's just too nihilistic and messed up even for me. About time he tries to do something with interesting subject matter.i dont even care. Did I say I’m not excited? You didn’t even read my post. I’m liking what I’m hearing, but I can take him or leave him. He’s no Nolan. I’m excited for this Batman movie because of Batman. Not Matt Reeves.Right, because everything Reeves has said about the film gives us no reason to be excited for his take.
Except here we have a director committed to giving us a noirish, POV-driven detective film. Something many of us having been screaming for for years. Were he to leave, who's to say the next director would share this same commitment?Did I say I’m not excited? You didn’t even read my post. I admit I am starting to grow concerned about that.It just has this vibe that they can't agree on something or keep retooling it every few months
I like what I’m hearing but I’m not sold on him being able to deliver what he’s promising. I sincerely hope he is the guy that gives us the Batman movie we’ve always wanted, but I don’t have 100% confidence in him, and would be fine if someone else replaced him. It’s not like it’s Reeves or nothing for me. His take sounds a lot better than Affleck’s though. Deathstroke as the villain was always a bad idea.Except here we have a director committed to giving us a noirish, POV-driven detective film. Something many of us having been screaming for for years. We have some idea what we are getting in Reeves' take. So in effect, if you're excited for Reeves' take, you're excited for Reeves.
In post B&R era we still got SS, BvS and JL, so... It doesn't mean much. WB either gets lucky with a director or not.
