I too am excited for the meltdown phase. Is it hyperbolic? Sure, but it’s fun to rant and rave about stuff we love!

for sure, tho is even more funny if youre not the one having the meltdown :funny:

this situation kind of reminds of Spider-man’s film history:

Tobey Maguire/Christian Bale: nearly universally loved, regarded as the “classic” film version by most movie goers. Took liberties with the source material that people overlook.

Andrew Garfield/Ben Affleck: Divisive...could have been great but were saddled with bad movies/creative decisions, only starred in 2 movies.

Tom Holland/?????: generally more comics accurate, and basically as well regarded as the “classic.”

Spot on. Always thought the same thing too. Parallels are spooky similar.

Hope you’re right about what comes next!

If you think about it even more, the whole timing situation is kind of similar from Christian Bale to Ben affleck vs Tobey to Andrew Garfield. Maybe rushing into a reboot after a critically acclaimed/fan loved series ISN’T a good idea :funny:

Matt Reeves is definitely saying all the right things... I loved his Apes movies so if he’s still operating at that level I think we’re in for a treat.

Realistically speaking, we'll get casting and pre-production news this yearx but won't see anything from the actual movie before 2020, when filming starts.
Hope the Spider-Man won't pan out for this iteration. Not a fan of the MCU Spidey.

Well the latest we heard was that production was starting in the fall, so we could start seeing stuff as early as this year.

Figure we'll get casting no later than May.

If I would have to bet, I'd say that cameras won't roll until at least January.

Affleck is like Cavill. He's unable to save or elevate bad material, and perhaps both don't shine even in average stuff, but in good hands they can work well enough. I also believe Affleck had a good Batman in him. But it's not gonna happen.

There is a chance we might see something at SDCC, also when filming begins like the BOP.

Best we’ll get at SDCC is maybe a picture of the actor in the suit, but probably not even that.

I’m guessing SDCC this year will just focus on WW84 and BOP.

They won't even have a pic of him in suit by July.

WB's DC panel at Comic Con will be all Joker, Birds of Prey, and Wonder Woman.

Maybe they bring Reeves and the new Batman out on stage for a quick hello.

I know it ain't WB's style, but I would love for them to make cast reveals at SDCC instead of random variety articles that drop out of nowhere

That's risky business. Look at the reception Mark Ruffalo got.

All too true

Well I expect them to cast some kickass actors regardless. Like who wouldn't go nuts if they announced that Mads Mikkelsen was playing Freeze or Andy Serkis playing Cobblepot? The roof would blow off the place.

Sigh I see some people are still in denial because Ben hasnt said “I’m not playing Batman,” lol. I feel lime we need a casting announcement to finally put the nail in the coffin.

It's sad.

Nevermind the fact that he responded to a Hollywood Reporter article that flat-out says "Ben Affleck Passes the Torch" in the title, but why would he be excited to see Reeves' take if he was going to be a part of it?
