MCU Phase 3: Have it your way - Part 1

Dasher, what about Cap 4?

Derp, let me revise this. I'm guessing Marvel can do four films per year by Phase 4

2015
Ant Man

2016
Captain America 3 (Spring, Bloodstone Hunt as plot, Zemo, Songbird and Taskmaster as villains, Diamondback as new supporting cast member)
Doctor Strange (Summer, origin story, Dormammu as villain, Wong and Clea as supporting cast)
Thor 3 (Holiday, original story, Enchantress as villain)

2017
Hulk 2 (Spring, original story, Red Hulk and Leader as villains, She-Hulk and Rick Jones as new supporting characters)
Captain Marvel (Summer, Origin Story, Yon-Rogg as villain)
Black Panther (Holiday, Origin Story, Moses Magnum as villain)

2017 TV shows
Daredevil Season 2
Heroes for Hire (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist as an ensemble)
Moon Knight
Punisher

2018
Black Widow (Spring, Homecoming as plot, North Institute as villains, Hawkeye as supporting Character)
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (Summer, original plot, Magus as villain, Phylla-Vell and Adam Warlock as new supporting characters)
Avengers 3 (Holiday, preferably Thanksgiving weekend, Infinity + Infinity Gauntlet as plot, Thanos as villain. And at this point, Daredevil, She-Hulk, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Captain Marvel, Falcon, Winter Soldier and Black Panther join the Avengers but its okay since most of them are going to die anyway with only a few remaining characters by the beginning of the third act. Then they all come back to life anyway.)

Phase 4

2019
Iron Man 4 Spring (Spring, Armor Wars + 5 Nightmares as plot, Zeke Stane and Ghost as main villains with the REAL Mandarin working behind the scenes)
Doctor Strange 2 (Late Summer, Original story, Shuma Gorath as villain)
Thor 4 (Holiday, Thor Disassembled as Plot, Loki and Surtur as villains, Hela and Baldur appear in Hel post-credits. This is the last hurrah for Chris Hemsworth in the role)

TV series for 2019
Daredevil
Punisher
Heroes for Hire
Moon Knight
Hawkeye

2020
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (Spring, Kree-Skrull War as plot, Kree and Skrulls empires as antagonists but not exactly villains.)
Captain America 4 (Early Summer, Viper and the serpent Society as villains)
Captain Marvel 2 (Late Summer, War of the Marvels as plot, Moonstone as villain)
Blade Reboot (Autumn, preferably in time for Halloween, Xarus and Dracula as villains)

2021
Black Panther 2 (Spring, Enemy of the State as plot, Klaw as villain)
Hulk 3 (Early Summer, Planet Hulk as Storyline, Red King as villain)
Inhumans (Late Summer, Inhumanity as plot. Maximus as villain. Aftermath of Avengers 3 caused most of the Phase 4 films to deal with Inhumans popping up around the world.)
Avengers 4 (Holiday, World War Hulk as plot, Hulk as villain. Crystal joins the Avengers. Not all Avengers return as Thor is now dead, Black Panther is dealing with poor relations with the United States, the Guardians are all off in space, Black Widow is living in New York with Daredevil and tied up fighting crime, Hawkeye is away on SHIELD business, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are off running a private investigation firm, War Machine's gone rogue, Quicksilver is visiting the Inhuman royal family as an ambassador, Nick Fury is off doing paperwork and Winter Soldier is on trial. The roster this time is Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Vision, Scarlet Witch and Crystal. That's a big enough cast.)

New 2021 TV show
Runaways

1. Ant-Man (2015)
2. Captain America 3 (2016)
3. Doctor Strange (2016)
4. Thor 3 (2017)
5. Inhumans (2017)
6. Avengers 3

I would go with...

2015 - Ant Man
2016 - Cap 3
- Doctor Strange
2017 - Thor 3
- Nova (as Guardians 2)
2018 - Avengers 3

Is Marvel putting out 4 or 5 films for Phase 3?

What I'd like to happen:

2015 - Ant-Man
2016 - Cap 3, Dr. Strange
2017 - Black Panther, Thor 3
2018 - Captain Marvel, Avengers 3

What may just happen

2015 - Ant-Man
2016- Cap 3, Dr. Strange
2017 - Thor 3, Avengers 3

Avengers 3 could easily fill the second slot in 2017.

I hope they push Avengers to 2018, give us a hulk sequel if not a new IP.

Chris Evans said he'll probably be done by 2017. Does that simply mean done filming or will he still be promoting and stuff in 2018?

As for introducing new characters, that may be done very similar to how Black Widow was introduced in Iron Man 2. They could make Cap 3 a Cap-and-Black-Panther movie if they wanted, for instance. They could make GOTG2 a Captain Marvel movie.

On that note, I think that's the main reason why Avengers 3 will be in 2018, because GOTG2 doesn't need a 4 year break between films. Whether or not comics fans decide it needs a sequel based on how much they know about the original comics, Gunn + Marvel = success, and not doing a sequel for a successful film is a whole lot like throwing money in he trashbin.

So with that, Avengers 3 could very well be in 2018, and there still be no room for new properties, which isn't really a priority, money-wise, if they're already doing 2 new franchises (Ant-Man and Doc Strange). I mean, creating 3-4 new properties every phase is actually really bad idea, come to think of it.

If there is a GOTG2 for 2017, Marvel needs to work out Zoe Saldana's schedule.

If Evans reckons he's going to be done by 2017 I reckon we may well see the death of Captain America in his third film, particularly seeing as how Ed Brubaker's run has influenced the latest film.

I think H.A.M.M.E.R. is a possibility at some point too, with Strucker, Zemo, or someone else associated with HYDRA taking Norman Osborne's role in the story

Then what about the sixth film in Evans contract? I don't think Marvel is going to just leave that money on the table, or that Evans would feel he's done if his contract isn't up.

Evans is signed through Avengers 3. He's not going to get killed off in Cap 3 if that's before Avengers 3.

And it will be before Avengers 3. It'll be in 2016, iirc.

Yeah, there's no doubt he'll be done filming in 2017. Filming for Avengers 2 ends in August, almost 9 months before the release date. I just questioned whether or not he considered 'done filming' to be done, when there's still other little stuff he'd be doing to promote and what not.

He meant done filming by 2017, which is probably when they'll shoot Avengers 3. He'll be shooting Cap 3 sometime next year to make that May 2016 date.

There's either going to be five or six films in Phase 3.

Even with all the promotional stuff, he'll be done 'acting', so he'll probably be able to start working on directing right away after that.

What future Marvel films do we want Chris to direct?

Who says he'll want to be Directing Marvel films?

Yeah, I hadn't even thought of him doing that. But if he *did* it might be quite cool to see him direct Captain America, or a Black Widow movie. I bet he could do plenty directing on the Netflix series, if he's interested in such things.

He didn't stay gone in the comics ;)

... I didn't know he had another film in his contract, I was just trying to make sense of the quote.

I still think there's a H.A.M.M.E.R. type scenario coming though
