Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

I saw the scenes from the Avengers: Quantum Encounter cruise. It's not canon of course, but it's interesting to see a glimpse at some of those characters interacting and how we may see them going forward in phase 4. It's about Scott, Hope, Sam (as Cap), Kamala and Carol fighting a returned Ultron.

Also, it has a bit of Scott trying to explain why he didn't do the "Thanus" technique which I'm now picturing he has told on the podcast he apparently has in the MCU.

When exactly is SDCC? I know its in july but what date? Oh and I've been listening to Shang Chi music all day today to calm my excitement for this big event. I won't be there but my spirit will be. :)

Could this be what we'll end getting after all, with almost zero surprises? Or do you think Feige have some shock value planned?

Marvel Studios' Scarlet Witch
Marvel Studios' Nova
Marvel Studios' Wonder Man
Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Return of the Ten Rings

There's plenty in the works.

Thor L&T is at the top for you?! That’s good to hear! Heard mixed things about it but I did love Ragnarok. Interesting that Ms. Marvel is toward the bottom too.

I wanted to LOVE Ms. Marvel cause the family Wonder Years type show portion of it is legit great. But....it is a superhero show, and I felt the superhero elements kind of....sucked. The villains were bad, the power effects are bad, the action staging isn't great, and I couldn't ignore that while watching it. The superhero main plot felt intrusive to the family show that was happening at the same time, and I liked the show overall. But it ended up toward the bottom for me because of this.

With L&T, I felt the comedy was maybe dialed up a bit too much, but I really loved the main plots with Gorr and Jane, so the dramatic portion of the story far outweighed the occasional joke that didn't land.

I was waiting for Ms Marvel to finish its episodes so I can binge all at once. I’ll probably do that soon. I think these short 6 episode series benefit more from the binge model than an episode a week, IMO. Wish I had done that for Obi-Wan too.

It is best way to do it. Honestly, I do feel like most of the MCU shows should have been condensed to movies. They don't use the 6 episode format well. I only feel like Wandavision and Loki used their time well for the entire series. I think you said elsewhere that the Phase 4 movies largely have been better than the D+ shows, and I agree. But I do recognize Marvel is new to the shows game, so I am hoping this passes in the near future.

Aside from What If? - WandaVision, The Falcon and the winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvek would have been better as a 2 to 2hr 30 minutes feature film. I feel like they stretched a storyline good enough for a movie, to a siX to nine episode run (bcos D+ needs weekly new content) and watching them every week was tedious.

I seriously doubt this would change with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Echo, Armor Wars, Daredevil, Wonder Man, Nova, Iron Heart, Agatha: House of Harkness and Secret Invasion.

So I don't feel like rewatching any of the D+ Xeries, just because I didn't have fun watching the entire duration of those Xeries.

I find a lot of the movies and series have a lot going for them, but they're severely brought down by annoying side characters, boring visuals, or just a general feeling of being discardable.

As for the future, I'm most excited for X-Men, Fantastic Four, Blade, Cap 4, Armor Wars, Iron Heart (basically all the older franchises, come to think of it).

Hmm.. my rankings of what I've seen, because I've stopped watching the shows at this point:

Doctor Strange (7/10)
WandaVision (7/10)
Thor: Love & Thunder (6/10)
Spider-Man: No Way Home (6/10)
Shang Chi (6/10)
Loki (6/10)
Black Widow (6/10)
Falcon & The Winter Soldier (5/10)
The Eternals (4/10)

Haven't watched
What If?
Hawkeye
Moon Knight
Ms. Marvel

There's just too much for me at the moment, and the quality isn't there to keep me excited. With so many things coming out, there's less time to appreciate what you like, less time to anticipate anything, and the similar tones across everything begin to congeal into one big lump.

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm getting pretty sick of the post credit sequences too. They used to be a really fun novelty. I don't hang around to see them anymore, I'll just watch or read about them later on. They used to be effective, setting up the next movie and connecting the series. At some point the expansion has become unwieldy, and new ones just appear to dump in some new obscure character that I don't care about. I think Eternals was the nail in the coffin. It's gone from 'ooh Thor's hammer!' to 'ew ugly CG Patton Oswalt goblin and Harry Styles?'

tbf Eternals end credits also had the voiceover of Blade…which was awesome
Best Phase 4 credits scene imho

My rankings for what it's worth:

1) Spiderman: No Way Home
2) Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness
3) Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
4) WandaVision
5) Loki
6) Moon Knight
7) Black Widow
8) Ms Marvel
9) Hawkeye
10) Falcon and The Winter Soldier
11) Thor Love & Thunder
12) Eternals
13) What If...

In all honesty Phase 4 was sort of a dud.
Probably the worst MCU phase so far. A disjointed missed opportunity.

Upon its announcement there were a few things that interested me but for the most part it fell short of my expectations.

Phase 4 Ranking:

1. Spider-Man NWH
2. Thor: Love and Thunder
3. Doctor Strange: MOM
4. Black Widow
5. Shang-Chi
6. Eternals
— // —
1. Loki
2. Wandavision
3. What If

Haven’t seen:

Falcon & the Winter Soldier
Hawkeye
Moon Knight
Ms. Marvel

So do we still count What If? as that was eXcluded in phase 4 map in SDCC 22?

Glad Phase 4 is over, this year. As 7 Xeries and 7 shows is a lot for binge watching.

Phase IV was the second best phase after III, for my part. WandaVision, Shang-Chi, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness are all top tier MCU and nothing in phase iv came anywhere near being as bad as Iron Man 2, 3, Thor 2 or Ant-man 2.

I think Phase 2 was the worst Phase. Yes, it gave us TWS and GOTG. But Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World are 2 of the 3 worst MCU films IMO and while I enjoyed AoU, many found it to be a lesser film in the rankings, and even as one of its biggest defenders, I still have it somewhere in the middle. So pending WF, I would say Phase 4 is probably the 3rd best phase.

Phase 3
Phase 1
Phase 4
Phase 2

Phase 4 is definitely at the bottom for me so far. Even if BP2 is the best MCU film to ever exist and blows everything else out of the water, the phase overall has been pretty lackluster. My rankings

1. Phase 3
2. Phase 1
3. Phase 2
4. Phase 4
