Well you were never interested in the sitcom side of it because you wanted a standard MCU action flick. But the whole sitcom premise was Feige's own brainchild and personal project and without that there was no WandaVision.
Its not about the lack of action. I don't watch Marvel movies to get my standard action fiX. My favorite tv show is Lost and I wouldn't call that an action show while my favorite MCU film before Endgame was Winter soldier and it wasn't because of action either. And I would be preferring the Transformers, Fast and Furious and DCEU movies if I just want standard action. Yes I have zero interest in sitcoms and upon watching it, this show didn't need to dedicate a single episode for each decade of sitcom. SiX out of 9 episodes is a bit much.
The flashbacks in episode 7 (which covered different stages in Wanda's life) were all showcased in a single episode, so there wasn't a big need to pay homage or to dedicate every decade of sitcoms for siX episodes. I think they skipped the 90s era and that didn't hurt the show. So It was not really needed. Imo, they really stretched a single storyline by doing this "sitcom of the decade per episode" and those didn't really pay off in the end. Like I said when the show premiered, the first two episodes combined could have been a 15 to 20 minute scene for a movie.
They could have easily covered the 50s sitcom up to Modern Family for a single hour to showcase Wanda's sitcom inspired fantasy world, and they could have still featured those many outfit changes and gags in a hour. They didn't need to dedicate an entire episode for Modern Family, Bewitched and the other sitcoms they've used as an inspiration. The earlier episodes minus ep4 (Monica's centric ep) had really slow pacing because they used eXtra screentime to pay homage of sitcoms of yesteryear which didn't eXactly advance the story and the main story was stalling because of it.
Most of the sitcom callbacks weren't even integral to Wanda's story especially those infomercials and the intro parodies. Those looked like it belong a Dvd special features section or viral marketing. Towards the end, after they ended the sitcom episodes, the pacing became faster since they only had two episodes and they needed to wrap things up. As a whole, the pacing was very inconsistent. It could have been a tighter show if they didn't focus so much on paying homage to sitcoms and they could have used the other episodes to eXplore more about Wanda and develop the other characters if they didn't want to limit it to a 2hr movie.
Now if those siX episodes covered different stages of Wanda's life rather making a parody for sitcom of the decade, then that could have been a better and more meaningful eXperience. If I rewatch WandaVision, I know which scenes I would skip and most of those are in ep1/2/4/5/6/7.
