So Phase 2 we should have Ant Man, Cap 3 & Dr Strange with 2 spots open. Thor 3/Hulk 2/Ms Marvel/Black Panther. What are the other possible contenders?

Ant Man, Cap 3, Dr Strange, GotG2 are all confirmed for Phase 3. Thor 3 also has writers, and will probably get the May 2017 date.

So there's only 1 free slot, Nov 2017, before Avengers 3 (which I'm assuming is out May 2018)

Vin Diesel said the talks he was in with for Marvel was aimed at something happening in 2017, and the speculation is that it's Inhumans.

Exactly.

I think they might give Thor 3 the November 2017 date so it can lead in to Avengers 3. And Marvel knows it can work, since Thor 2 was released in Novbember and made a good amount of money.

Then Carol is a must. Kevin Feige is going to have a lot of explaining to do if Marvel completes their announced schedule and not a single film is led by a woman or a Person of color.

And if he explains that the intent is to stick both of them in early Phase 4? Once he announces a release date for them, I'd imagine complaints will settle down.

I think BP will get his own film in Phase 3, it would make sense to do an Earth-based movie in 2017 to contrast with GOTG 2 and Thor 3 IMO. It also would fill Feige's one new property a year rule. Also I've just seen more rumors about BP than Inhumans/Captain Marvel.

Actually, I think they'll give Thor 3 a better release date. I believe TDW would've made even more if released in the summer.

Thanks. I hope the next Thor film takes place mostly on Asgard and is as epic as a Thor film should be (even though I still enjoy the 1st 2).

I get the feeling Inhumans might be too much just before Avengers 3. I wouldn't want a bunch of new guys also piling into that film as well as the GotG guys and any new Avengers. And I'd rather the last film before A3 was linked and didn't branch off into something new and unrelated. Would make sense to happen soon after though. I'd like one of Ms Marvel & Black Panther to happen on that Nov date and one at the start of Phase 4 (along with Inhumans). MM probably makes more sense 1st and BP after.

Then the complaints will die down.

I don't see why they'd need Thor right before A3, after all, we just had GotG and that has nothing to do with Age of Ultron.

Also, that would be a full 4 years after TDW, I don't see them wanting to leave it that long. May 2017 is still 3.5 years after TDW, but it's the nearest available with the Doc taking July 2016.

That wouldn't have to happen though, as I said above, we won't be seeing the Guardians in Age of Ultron despite the former being the last film released before the latter.

I don't read the comics so I don't really know anything about the Inhumans (As much as I knew about GotG when that was announced). I know more about BP & Cpt Marvel because of hanging out here and the cartoons, so I might lean in their favour purely for that reason. Feige has talked more about Inhumans, although he has also recently said he keeps getting asked about BP & CM:

http://screenrant.com/black-panther-captain-marvel-demand/
"“They’re both characters that we like, that development work has been done on and continues to be done on and certainly the public… it’s a question I get asked more than anything else. More than Iron Man 4. More than The Avengers 3. And that’s sort of the fist time that’s really happened to us so I think that makes a difference. I think that’s something we have to pay attention to.”

“I’ve always said we have our plan and it served us very well and there hasn’t been anything that has made us deviate or change from that based on opinion because opinions online change and they alter, and they’re based on sort of limited information they have towards what’s going on behind-the-scenes. But in this particular case I think it is a groundswell. I think it does. I think it means something substantial.”"

G'day,

Just when is a "new property" an old property? The the two parter Avengers 3 rumour is correct they may very well introduce Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) in Part 1 then give her a solo movie in which she gets to recruit the GOTG for Part 2. Would that maker new or old property?

They also might be setting up the Inhumans on AOS. The stuff with Skye, Raina, and Skye's dad seems like it could be forshadowing. Also, the weird symbols that Coulson and Garrett wrote down.

I would say a new property is a unique franchise, something with a new and separate title that can be marketed as it's own thing just like Iron Man, Captain America, ect. I don't remember personally reading the precise interview Feige gave when he made this claim, though, and I have seen people word it as if he said "introduce a new character" as oppose to "a new property" which would make a big difference. In that case I guess the chances of, say, doing a Nova-based movie under the GotG brand would 'count'. However, I think even if Feige was going for 'new character' he would have meant that what they were looking for is a new, marketable hero and so far the most marketable have all been characters who starred in their own title.

My take on it is that even AoU is still just an Avengers event while the Thanos thing will be the end of the 3 phase 1st stage of Marvel's project. I think everyone introduced to date will be aware and possibly involved in that film. Inhumans to me would be a great way to begin the next phase as it would start off new concepts while the film that leads into A3 could continue to build the momentum for the biggest event of the MCU.

I'm liking the two part mega crossover storyline idea. The Infinity Gauntlet needs to be just the most epic thing ever caught on film. They have to get Thanos right in the MCU!

Perhaps they go with: Cap missing and presumed dead after Cap 3, Thor as king of Asgard after Thor 3, Hulk jettisoned to space after AOU, and Tony left to assemble whoever is left to fight Thanos for part one. Who's left? Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision...and maybe Captain Marvel...maybe Bucky Cap...and maybe...just maybe Spider-Man! Then they have the option of having Tony die at the end of this one and really darkening the tone, raising the stakes, and ending the character in a truly heroic way. Which from the looks of AoU he will need some heroic redemption from. Or they can pay RDJ $300,000,000 and bring him back for part two.

Part Two would feature the Guardians bringing back Hulk, Thor arriving after Asgard is destroyed by Thanos, and Captain America returning from the "dead" (although I'm getting sick of that already in the MCU)...or Bucky brought in as new Cap. And then you have the New Avengers, the original Avengers, and the Guardians of the Galaxy vs. Thanos and his minions. Epic! So freaking epic!

I'd save the television shows for the street level battles against Thanos' minions and leave the main event characters for the major battle.

So confirmed:
Iron Man
Hulk
Thor
Captain America
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Quicksilver
Scarlet Witch
Vision
Drax
Star-Lord
Rocket
Gamora
Groot
Ant-Man
Dr. Strange

Possible:
Captain Marvel
Winter Soldier
Adam Warlock
Spider-Man

Tell me that's not nuts!

With something so big where would The Defenders, Deathlok, AoS and Iron Patriot be??

I've always wanted a film with everyone in, even if some characters are only shown in brief street level cameos. Unfortunately we can't have certain guys but I'd love Marvel to use absolutely everyone they have available. As for RDJ that might be the time if he wants to hang up his boots. And of course it would take ridiculous money to get RDJ back once his contract ends..but at the same time RDJ can't make that kind of crazy money for relatively little work where he doesnt have to lead a film all by himself anywhere else.

So, i've read (like most of you) the news about Sony considering (or at least talking a little) about allowing Marvel to use Spider-Man in the MCU.

Even if there is a chance I'm not sure I would want it...it depends on how much control Marvel has over the character or if they will be forced to use the current version of the film Spider-Man. If that's the case than forget it. It's all Marvel or nothing for me.

^When would Spidey take place? I assume post Avengers (since no one heard about him in the MCU) but where were the Avengers when New York was under attack by the Lizard, Electro, Rhino, and the others? I agree that Spidey'll be better off either staying separate or being rewritten from scratch in the MCU.

You're assuming they would combine continuities.

I think Marvel will only go forward if they think the version of Spidey they get to use would improve the MCU. I trust their judgement on that.

The end of my statement involves the rewrite, though would Sony offer an additional Spidey to compete with their own?

I think the easiest thing would be to not think about it too much. It's a shame they couldn't keep it secret because the best way to do it would be to just have Spider-Man show up out of the blue and join the fight. The audience would go crazy if that happened.

What would that be? Maybe loosely connected continuity would be the best way to describe it. The Amazing Spider-Man movies won't be officially part of the same continuity, but they also won't be explicitly excluded either.

Well that depends on the actor who plays Spiderman.

Add IM4 as a possible Phase 3 film. If so, my early predictions would be correct. :D

So RDJ says the schedule will be revealed soon. Hopefully by soon he means NYCC.
